Nearly half of Japanese people are still virgins in their 30s, according to new research.

Some 43 per cent of people aged 18 to 34 from the country have admitted they have never popped their cherries and there has been a dramatic drop in birth rate - dropping to below one million - the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare reports.
Deaths have now outpaced births and other countries including the US, China, Denmark and Singapore also have low fertility rates.
Another study found nearly a quarter of Japanese men aged 50 weren't married and one in seven women were the same.
