Old flower pots sells for £668,000

A flower pot has sold at auction for £668,000.

Terry Nurrish from Fulstow, Lincolnshire was left stunned after his old flower pot - which is a rare jardiniere - sold at auction for over half a million pounds.

The 68-year-old retired farmer was unaware that his ornament was of any value, after he inherited it from his father, who had purchsed it at a house clearance sale in 1946.

In 1991 he took the pot to an episode of BBC One's 'Antiques Roadshow' where an expert valued it at £10,000. He then held on to it for over two decades before deciding to sell it at the auction house Christie's in 2012.
