Man's penis amputated after Viagra overdose

''The patient showed bruising on the testicles and penis, was treated and is recovering well.''

A 66-year-old man had to have his penis amputated after overdosing on Viagra.

Gentil Ramírez Polanía took more than the recommended dose of the tablets, which cost him around 80p, in order to woo his girlfriend but his manhood stayed up for several days and started causing him pain.

When he went to the hospital in Neiva, Colombia, doctors told him the only thing they could do was amputate his member because inflammation and gangrene had started to develop and they were concerned it might spread to other parts of his body.

A doctor told local newspaper La Nacion: ''The patient showed bruising on the testicles and penis, was treated and is recovering well.''
