Eight police officers in Pilar, Argentina have been taken to court after telling officials that the creatures had consumed a half-ton of the seized drug when it went missing from a police warehouse.

However, experts have shot down this theory and claimed rodents wouldn't mistake marijuana with food and would have died from the drug.

A spokesperson for the judge on the court case said: ''Buenos Aires University experts have explained that mice wouldn't mistake the drug for food, and that if a large group of mice had eaten it, a lot of corpses would have been found in the warehouse.''

According to The Guardian, 13,000 pounds of bud were supposed to be in storage, but a recent inspection revealed 1,000 pounds were missing.

All eight officers were dismissed from their jobs, and will testify in front of the judge on May 4.
