Police's festive gifts

Godley Police Department of Texas have decided to issue parking tickets asking motorists to bring gifts into the station for less fortunate children instead of paying the fees from their motoring offences.

Police chief Jason Jordan reportedly came up with the generous gesture and wants to make the good deed an annual tradition.

And the officers have collected dozens of toys for the children of all ages.

Speaking about the deed to Mashable, Jason said: ''We've probably handed out a couple hundred.

''We will stop handing [the notes] out in the next few days.

''I am also looking at getting something started for the next school year to help with clothing and supplies.''
