A study has proved 27 per cent of British people don't check if all windows and doors are locked before they leave the house.

Research conducted by CompareTheMarket.com on Monday (28.11.16) has shown 23 million people rely on technology to keep their homes secured, yet just over a quarter of the population fail to check if their home is safely bolted up before leaving.
The study has also revealed men are in favour of using gadgets such as CCTV cameras and alarms for higher security measures, whilst women prefer to rely on traditional methods like leaving a light on to make it look as though someone was at home.
Further research from the study also showed Yorkshire and the Humber is the region which is most likely to have CCTV with motion sensors and alarms.
Gemma Schwarz, Head of Home at Compare the Market said: ''Technology is advancing at an astonishing rate these days, so perhaps it is unsurprising that people want to call on this to protect their most precious place - their home. There is a lot to be said for traditional methods like double locking doors and leaving on lights, but it's clear to see that in this day and age people want to turn to more advanced home security measures.''
