Surgeon carries out successful procedures on dead bodies

On Friday (17.11.17), it was revealed that scientists had performed a head transplant on human remains and have plans in place to do the same procedure on a living person.

Surgeon Sergio Canavero has proved it is possible to reconnect the spine, nerves and blood vessels to allow two bodies to merge together.

Valery Spiridinov, from Russia, is to become the first living person to have his head frozen and placed onto another body.

Speaking at a press conference in Vienna, Canavero said: ''The first human transplant on human cadavers has been done.

full head swap between brain dead organ donors is the next stage.

''And that is the final step for the formal head transplant for a medical condition which is imminent.''
