Thieves steal 100 pigs

Thieves have stolen 100 piglets from a farm.

Witnesses reported hearing squealing as the burglars snatched the pigs from their pen, in Cavenham, Suffolk, in the middle of the night and drove off with them in a green trailer pulled by a 4x4 vehicle, reports The Mirror newspaper.

It is believed the robbery stems from the growing price of pork and that the piglets will be slaughtered and then sold on the black market.

The incident is just the latest in a series of pig thefts.

Last year a farm in Suffolk reportedly lost 287 animals equating around £30,000 in just a few months.
