A third of Britons live in haunted houses

One in three Britons believe their house is haunted.

According to a survey by Confused.com, a third of homeowners feel like there is a spirit lurking in their home with some even insisting they have seen a ghost walking in their property.

A quarter of people who believed their home was haunted also claimed that their belongings had been moved by a poltergeist.

Head of Confused.com's home insurance, Gareth Lane said: ''Ghosts, ghouls and things that go bump in the night are usually seen in films and TV programmes.

''But for some homeowners, they are a very real concern with three in 10 Britons saying they thought their home was haunted.
