Tourists get lost in maze

A group of tourists phoned the police after getting lost in a maze.

''I think they are overwhelmed, you can get worked up when you can't get out of a place and everything looks the same.''

Holidaymakers visiting California's 'Cool Patch Pumpkins' corn maze got themselves into such a panic after getting lost that they called the emergency services to rescue them.

According to the Metro newspaper, a spokesman for the County Sheriff's department explained: ''I think they are overwhelmed, you can get worked up when you can't get out of a place and everything looks the same.''

The maze - which spans 63 acres - is the world's largest and it is not unusual for people to get lost.

Owner Matt Cooley said he ''understood'' the tourists fear but insisted he pays specially trained staff to track down lost visitors, so there was no need to call the police.
