Jesus Snubbed My Models April 30, 2009
Posted by Laura in : Fashion , add a commentWow, there’s a headline I never thought I’d write, but yes it is true. Jesus Luz, Madonna’s toyboy to me and you, has been snubbed by his fellow male models because of his new found fame.
His relationship with Queen Madge has propelled the Brazilian model into International fame, with designers left, right and centre hoping to snap him up for their campaigns.
Anyway it’s this success and apparent arrogance which has upset his fellow male models, with many refusing to speak to him on a recent catwalk show.
They reckon he’s nicked their jobs, which they have worked oh-so hard for and we’re inclined to agree, as before Madge got her paws on him, who the hell had heard of Jesus Luz?
Sure, he’s pretty, but so are a lot of male models and to hear that Marc Jacobs is personally supporting his campaign to stay and work in the country is a bit laughable.
First he went and landed the Dolce & Gabbana menswear campaign and now he’s got Marc on side? Something there does not add up, and with Madonna denying she used her connections to get him the gigs, the question is- how did he get so famous so fast?
With other reports suggesting he’s now trying to charge ludicrous amounts for personal appearances, we reckon he should enjoy this 15 minutes of fame while it lasts, because you know that when Madonna bails on him again, his star aint going to be shining nearly as bright.

Looks like Susan Boyle has let the pound signs get the better of her… she wants to quit the show and start earning the big bucks now before her 15 minutes of fame come to an end. What do you think? Should Susan grab the bull by the horns or risk it all to see if she wins the show?
We were surprised when we heard Sarah Jessica Parker and her hubby Matthew Broderick were expecting twin girls but even more surprised when we found out they are expecting through a surrogate pregnancy. Maybe this will put those rumours of a split to rest hey?
So Madonna has been confirmed for a second season at Louis Vuitton. How shocking! Yes, the queen of pop will once again be seducing the camera with her sultry glances and legs akimbo poses, only this time round she may have her toyboy, Jesus Luz on board to keep her company. What a privileged life she does lead…
It seems that Hugh Jackman has a bit of a shy streak after the actor revealed that he has a secret stash of naked photos of himself… it’s a shame he didn’t want to share those with the rest of us!

Lily Allen is well known for stumbling out of clubs after a few too many, but it seems that the booze could have got the better of her; after she proposed to a member of the Kings of Leon after a boozy night out. Don’t worry Lily, we’ve all done it, usually to that bloke from the kebab shop, but still, we sympathies with you.
Kelly Osbourne is never one to shy away from what she really thinks but she’s bound to have upset half of Hollywood with her latest comments. The TV presenter has claimed she’s not going to follow the rest of Hollywood and use cocaine to stay slim. We wonder who she could be talking about!?
My heart really goes out to poor Kelly Brook. I mean honestly, she’s beautiful, womanly and every man’s dream date, so to hear that she’s now gone on a crash diet because she thinks she’s too fat, really makes me feel for her. And yes, that was sarcasm…
Ever fancied getting your face on the cover of a sell-out album? Of course you have, well guess what, me and my celeb best mates, Will And The People , thought it’s about time we let the ‘normal’ people get a slice of pop fame! Got involved kids!

Cheryl Cole Scared of GaGa Style April 28, 2009
Posted by jess in : Fashion , add a comment

Cheryl Cole has revealed that she isn’t brave enough to experiment with fashion in the way that Lady GaGa does and can we just say how glad we are.
While we know we have many celeb style icons we need them for different things and while GaGa lets us explore the wild side of fashion Cheryl is the play-it-safe girl. There’s no denying she looks great and she isn’t as boring as some people we could mention (Angelina Jolie) but Cheryl wears the stuff we would wear if we had the money.
A leotard wearing, pants showing, real hair bow-ed Cheryl? We don’t think we could handle that. We’re pretty sure GaGa couldn’t either.
GaGa is all about unique-ness so we’re sure she’d be more than a bit annoyed if Cheryl started tottering around in 3D dresses like her. Cheryl, don’t worry about trying Lady GaGa’s style, we like you just the way you are.

Ever since Cheryl Cole broke out on her own, we knew that a Girls Aloud split wouldn’t be far away… but we didn’t think it would come today! Our lives just won’t be the same without them…
We thought no-one could top Britain’s Got Talent’s global sensation Susan Boyle, that was until little Hollie Steel pranced her way onto the show this weekend, and threatened to steal Susan’s YouTube crown! Could she knock Susan Boyle off the top spot?
We always knew we liked Sophie Dahl and now even more so as the curvy model has laid into skinny celebrities and told the truth about faddy diets, adding “Starving is not sexy.”
I’d hate to be in Marc Jacobs shoes at the MET fashion gala this year, as he’s rumoured to be bringing two dates that hate each other! Yep, on one arm he’ll have Madonna and on the other he’ll be showing off Courteny Love. Oh to be a fly on the wall at that event…
Usually when a celeb get’s hitched, the press are the first to know (usually OK! Or Hello magazine; naturally) but it looks like Lee Mead and Denise Van Outen didn’t choose to sell out to the papers, and wed in secret. Congratulations!

Finally proving that real rock music can take it’s place on the Radio One airwaves, I’m pleased to say that Madina Lake have made it to our song of the week this week; on the very day their single is released… coincidence? I think not
As you and I still don’t know each other overly well, i thought it was about time we bonded over a song or two, so i’ve penned the Five Albums That Changed My Life and I’d love it if you’d tell me yours…
This could be the most exciting news ever. Alicia Silverstone is rumoured to be in talks to make a comeback with a Clueless sequel! We’re crossing our fingers and toes this one’s true.
Here’s a piece of shocking news- former supermodel becomes designer. I know, it’s truly a unique venture for Yasmin Le Bon, who is apparently lending her creative skills to Wallis for a new clothing collection. Kate for Topshop, Beth for Evans and now Yasmin for Wallis, anyone else a bit bored?
Terrance Howard is once again moaning about his dismissal from the Iron man franchise. Look pal just accept that Don Cheadle has got the gig now get over it it’s getting boring!

Ruths Sundays Celeb Slice April 26, 2009

As Lewis Hamilton will be spending a couple of hours driving his little car around a track and I settle down for a day in front of the TV, i caught up with him last week to find out how he was preparing for today’s Grand Prix.
We wouldn’t have thought that Miley Cyrus’s Hollywood crush would be George Clooney but even stranger than that her dad also has a thing for Gorgeous George. Billy Ray Cyrus said: “Hey, even I like George Clooney!” Weird.
Another day, another drama for Lindsay Lohan. This time it’s all about her plummeting weight thanks to her split with lesbian lover, Sam Ronson. I’m so over Li-Lo these days, and quite frankly if the only way she can grab headlines is by appearing skeletal, it seems that everyone else’s love affair with the actress is over too.
Why does everything have to be remade? The naff classic that is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be getting a twenty first century makeover to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the crime fighting foursome. The pretty rubbish acting and storyline is what makes this movie so brilliant we don’t want a big budget blockbuster laden with special effects leave it well alone!

Now, we know there are rumours of bands splitting all the time, but the latest rumour of > The Pussycat Dolls break up, could have some truth to it since their latest single has been labelled as “Pussycat Dolls featuring Nicole Scherzinger.” Which is weird, since Nicole Scherzinger is actually meant to be in The Pussycat Dolls
Having a chunk of hair ripped out is not nice at the best of times but imagine it happening as your suspended upside down like poor > Britney Spears. Well you don’t have to imagine, you can see the hair yanking in it’s own glory now.
My God those French are picky! Apparently posters for the new > Chanel biopic have been banned in Paris, because Audrey Tautou is smoking on them. We kid you not, despite Coco herself getting through 50 a day, it appears the health conscious French don’t want to promote smoking to the masses. What?!
It doesn’t seem five minutes since we were heaping praise on The Class at last year’s >Cannes Film Festival and here we are again. The In Competition movies have been announced and Tarantino, Lee and Loach are all going head to head.

Five Albums That Shaped My Life April 24, 2009
Posted by Ruth in : Music, Ruth's Ramblings , 2commentsSince Green Day have made their triumphant comeback with their new single, I realised how much they shaped me as I battled my angst teenage years. But aside from that, there have been a couple of bands who have provided a soundtrack to my 21 years on Earth (maybe not all 21 of them, obviously) So I thought as we’re still getting to know each other, it was time to share them with you…
Pink Floyd – The Divison Bell

As a child, my parents used to play all manner of ‘embarrassing’ music whenever they had the chance, and pink Floyd’s The Division Bell, was their favourite to sing along to… Cringe!
But as I’ve grown up and my parents grew apart, I have begun to realise what an epic offering the final Pink Floyd album is, and really have to thank my parents for giving me such a sound grounding in music, and ultimately leading to where I am today.
It’s weird though, because every time I’m down, or want to cry, this is the album I put on, to have a good weep and then, surprisingly feel better and ready to get on with my life with a renewed energy.
Nightwish – Century Child

I first heard Nightwish back in 1998 when I was in Germany and my cousin played me Sleeping Sun, from the album Oceanborn. For me, it was love ot first listen, and as soon as I got back home I bought their CD’s and never looked back.
However, it was their 2002 album that really sticks in my memory; I mean, it’s just a beautiful as their other albums, but it contains lyrics that really strike a chord with, in particular, Bless The Child’s poignant lyrics “Think of me long enough to make a memory“ and “Why am I loved, only when I’m gone?”
Although none of my friends shared my love for the band, and many an ex boyfriend used to make fun of my taste in music, I always dreamt that one day I would be able to sing like Tarja Turunen (or now Anette Olzon) and front my own rock band… I suppose the only thing I’m lacking is Opera training… okay, and I can’t sing karaoke either!
But throughout my parents divorce, I found solace in Nightwish albums, and a few weeks ago, I finally got the chance to interview the band, which was a real dream come true.
Biffy Clyro – The Vertigo Of Bliss

One of my ex boyfriends introduced me to Biffy Clyro, mainly because every single time I went to his house, we’d listen to this album – much to my annoyance.
But I have to admit, that as I heard it more and more, I really started to fall in love with Simon Neil and his friends, and even went and bought Blackened Sky! They were my ‘secret love’ as I went to university, and Carl became an ex, and noone else knew who they were.
The Vertigo Of Bliss was one CD I could always put on when I missed home, and remember why I should be happy that I was doing something with my life and pursuing my dream of becoming a journalist.
Then, on my birthday in 2006, Biffy came and played at the gig venue I used to work in, and I almost died with excitement, even crying into people’s pints as they played my favourite track, All The Way Down, then I got to interview them, and ask all the questions I’d been dying to ask… it was amazing!
My love for Biffy helped me to form lifelong friendships with my two best friends, Helen and Nikki, and although everyone else in the world now loves these three gorgeous lads from Scotland… they’ll always mean that little bit more to those who ‘found them first.’
Blink – 182 – Enema Of The State

Many of my friends these days site Blink 182 as one of their all time favourite bands, and to be honest, picking my favourite album comes very tight, with Enema Of the State and Take Off Your Pants And Jacket both vying for the number one spot.
But as I can only choose one, I’d have to go with the earlier album as it was that one that really won me over. I remember watching the first ever Big Brother (before it was full of morons) and reading a letter that someone had written me, with the lyrics to Going Away To College; “I haven’t been this scared in a long time, And I’m so unprepared so here’s your valentine, Bouquet of clumsy words, a simple melody, This world’s an ugly place, but you’re so beautiful to me.”
I don’t know why, but these lyrics have continued to mean so much to me thought my life, and listening to this song, as well as There Is (by Box Car Racer) is what makes Blink 182 stand out about all the other copycat bands out there. Thank god they’re reforming!
Green Day – International Superhits

Now, I haven’t just put these because their new single is out, but back when I was in High School and my friends were listening to Westlife and the Spice Girls, I always tended to lean towards ‘alternative’ music, which often meant I was outcast from playground fun.
Okay, so in High School you tended to ‘hang out’ at lunchtime rather than play games, but the girls in my class never bothered talking to me and I was quite often left on my own a dinner times and picked on in class.
Bille Joe Armstrong and the rest of the Green Day lads were what kept me sane during these horrible five years, as I’d put my MP3 player on and repeat the compilation album International Superhits over and over; daydreaming that one day it would all be over and I’d be able to hang out with my idols.
So I’m not interviewing Green Day (yet) but with my celeb best mates that this job has brought me, I’m halfway there…. And those bullies? Well, a couple tried to add me on Facebook recently; funny how I’m the ‘cool’ one now isn’t it?
Now, what albums influenced you?

Now we all know it’s a tragedy that > Jade Goody has died – okay, maybe not that big a tragedy for OK! Magazine who have well and truly cashed in on it, but a musical based on her life…? Come on! Really?!
Could B > Britney Spears be pregnant again? Yes indeed if we believe Ryan Seacrest and his rumour-spreading ways…although it could just be all those doughnuts that have caused her to balloon over the past few months?
We had no idea that > Gavin Rossdale was into men before he shacked up with Gwen Stefani but it seems to be the case. The Bush singer apparently has a five year relationship with a friend of Boy George called Marilyn, that’s a male Marilyn. Well stranger things have happened we suppose.
Just when you think the fashion world couldn’t get any more crazy, along comes > Prada who decide to feature a horse in their latest campaign. We reckon that most models have a touch of horse about them anyway, so it was only a matter of time before someone merely took out the middle man, and just added a pony instead.
Before Angels & Demons has even hit cinema screens director >Ron Howard is already having to defend it. It seems that the church is already attacking the movie, calling it anti-Catholic. You know if movies don’t say that Catholicism is the path we all should tread they have a moan get a bloody grip it is just a movie!
