Is Susan Boyle Just Playing The Media?

Susan Boyle has been in more newspapers than Lindsay Lohan recently, and I know it’s harsh, but I’m starting to wonder if all this acting up is just for attention?

Now I’ve heard that she’s got some mental issues after she was taken to hospital under the Mental Health Act, but at the same time, some of her behaviour screams childish, and rather than being a bit barmy, I wonder if all this is a cry for help?

After pulling out of yet another Britain’s Got Talent live show last night following a very public meltdown in her Liverpool hotel, which saw her have a screaming fit on an eight floor balcony bawling ‘where’s my cat?’

The Scottish singing sensation was obviously screaming for her pet Moggy pebbles, and had to be lead from the hotel via the fire exit whilst constantly wailing;  “I want my cat! I need my cat!”

Onlookers clearly felt sorry for the woman who has been dubbed ‘The Hairy Angel’ by US media, but it’s only the latest debacle we’ve seen from her as there have been endless claims about Su-Bo’s state of mind.

Although most people associate her odd acting as a result of her treatment at a London rehab centre following her dramatic loss to dance troop Diversity in the show’s TV final, I am starting to question the authenticity of it all…

I could be made to eat my words, but part of me thinks we should either let Su-Bo go back to her old life where she could live in peace, or we need to find out the truth and stop encouraging this bizarre behaviour.

About Ruth

Word up! I am the music editor at FemaleFirst.co.uk. My favourite bands are Nightwish, Biffy Clyro and A Day To Remember. I do have rather biglove for the Now Thats What I Call Music CD's though. Katie Price annoys me but I love how she's made a name for herself by being annoying. That takes some work.

No the media have been horrible to her. I’ve stopped bying papers anymore they are run by bullies and you can not belive a word in them. People are jealous of her world wide success and of coarse what the media do in this country when that happens they try and destroy them . I doubt they will Leave her alone.

where the hell do you get this information????????? It is people like you that make life difficult for Susan. Make sure you get your facts straight before you publish something eh! She can sing and be famous, the difficult part is dealing with all the lies you guys publish. GEt a life!

First of all, the odious epithet “Hairy Angel” emanated NOT from the US media, but from the cesspool that Brits are apparently happy to refer to as their press. Second, the “endless claims” about Ms. Boyle’s state of mind come from ONE source: King of the Fishmongers, the Daily Mirror.

In the US, we have similar (weekly/monthly) tabloids, but no one quotes them or gives them any credence, with the exception of some of our less educated citizens. There just aren’t enough of them to support a daily — oh, wait, I forgot about the NY Post, which was brought to ruin by Rupert Murdoch, after he killed the news industry in Britain and Australia.

Seriously, why is it that none of you folks is raising a fit when other members of this BGT tour (it’s NOT a Boyle concert tour) take a day off? So far, that includes both the little kid singers and 2 Grand. Diversity probably won’t take a day off, but then they are the purported stars of the show, and the only ones getting any money for this.

Show a little kindness and sympathy, if you have it in you. The kind of peevish envy you display here is not becoming.

    Hello to the British people,

If Susan Boyle needs help, please give it to her. She cannot be thrown away. She has the most gorgeous voice of our times. This kind of talent comes directly from God.

We are waiting for her CDs, DVD, to appear. Until then we are turning into utube and listening over and over to her gorgeous performance.

We wish Susan luck in everything,

Now that is just plain unkind.

Mmm, knew it wouldn’t be long until some media type decided to morph into a psychiatrist. You have no idea what her mental state is, so stop trying to diagnose it. I take it you are avidly reading about what you term her ‘bizarre behaviour’ in the media. Who knows what is really happening, who knows what she is going through, and while we might be interested in whether she is well enough to perform and where her career will take her, maybe it’s time to stop judging her mental health and thriving on these stories of how she is reacting to extreme stress.

Tess who taught you to spell and write?

    As to the tour:

The agreement Susan Boyle made with Simon Cowell and BGT tour was that she would be there on the days she felt up to it, and skip on the days she did not feel up to it. Really, her publicist should just publish a few dates when she will be singing and then everyone will know what is what. The PR people are handling it badly, as fans are spending time and money to go hear Susan and then are disappointed. The underlying problem is probably that, as Susan has said, she does not want to disappoint her fans, and so gives more than she really can at this time. The woman was just hospitalized for exhaustion. It was never a good idea to send her out on this insane road tour the week after.

    As to the cat:
Where is her publicist to set the story straight? The main thing I want to know is, Where is Pebbles? If she was supposed to be in the hotel room and went missing, I would be freaked out too. I don’t know why the media keep holding Susan Boyle to a standard they cannot uphold themselves. They have never been upset? I am waiting to hear any named sources or see any pictures –coming down a fire escape for 8 floors ought to produce a picture or two even if you are not the most famous woman in the world. I suspect there are none because this is another totally contrived story by uncaring people.

I don’t think Susan Boyle has the coping skills to fake anything. I see no duplicity in her at all, no sophistication, none of the defense mechanisms most of us learn growing up. I believe what we’re seeing/reading about are full-blown panic attacks, probably not the first in her life, but possibly the worst and certainly the most public. What makes the media treatment so despicable is that she’s obviously in pain, and they don’t get it or care. This brave lady who makes us weep and cheer and long for the sound of her voice is just plain scared to death.

  10. Personal says:

You have to remember Susans background including the fact that she hadn’t been kissed, no boyfriend, living alone with a cat, no job and so on. Then bang………..an overnight sensation. Could it have all been too much for her to accept in such a small span of time. Of course it was. she should have been allowed to get back on her feet before continuing her stardom but again, the media, neighbors, townsfolk were banging on her door. I feel for her and I hope she eventually can settle without being hounded from every direction. She has a voice on her that no words can describe…if her parents were alive they would be so so proud of her. I hope she goes a long long way and lives in a HUGE beautiful cottage with pepples and gets kissed a million times over. She deserves it, you see……..goodness comes to those that wait and least expect it.
