Well it’s been almost a year since David Archuleta wowed crowds with his OneRepublic duet on 2008’s American Idol and it seems that this duet is one of the most popular internet searches at the moment.
Now we know the public can’t get enough of this gorgeous little man, and it seems that even though he has a fantastic album out in the shops, there seems to be a lack of this super fantastic song on it… and now it’s my mission to get him to release it as a single.
Many people have said that they prefer David’s version to the original, which is a bit unfair really because Apologize is actually my alarm tone in a morning, and I quite like waking up to the voice of Ryan Tedder…
Either way though, we loved a bit of the ArchRepbublic pairing back in 2008, and so I have made it my goal to get Mr Archuleta to get back into the studio and to belt out his version of Apologize – or at least a B-Side, and make us all happy!

Ruth, I agree David ROX on this song. If you can’t get enough, check Youtube.. there’s a million different videos of David singing Apologize from the American Idol tour. He was AMAZING.
Awesome idea! Apologize is a big song and he sings it better then original. David is also releasing Zero gravity, 1000 miles and Touch My Hand video available on itunes June 9.

Yep! I agree with you wholeheartedly. I always thought after “that” Apologize performance that David was made for it. That song was the highlight of the whole finale night! And the audience LOVED it too.

Sounds like you didn’t get to see him on the American Idol tour last summer where he nailed this song night after night. David can sing just about anything; he even teamed up on stage this past weekend with REO Speedwagon and rocked out the ending to Roll with the Changes. Yes I agree David should record this, but I’m totally excited about the songs he is writing himself. I want to hear them too!

Yes! I love the David’s duet with One Republic, but he did an awesome job performing this song (solo version) during the American Idol tour last year. David can sing any song beautifully and make it his own; he is beyond amazing. I adore David Archuleta!

Oh My Gosh!! David’s version of Apologize is MUCH BETTER than the original!! It’s so good that One Republic did a charity performance last year and they tried desperately to duplicate the way David sang it on the American Idol Tour, but failed!!

Another song that ALL of his fans would love for him to record is “WHEN YOU SAY YOU LOVE ME”, another one on the American Idol Tour. He sings this song with so much passion and conviction that just makes you cry. Groban never did or will ever do that to me….. in fact NO other artist ever has.

I love David Archuleta’s voice singing anything! He wowed me with Apologize and I can’t wait to see what he will sing next. His voice has a special quality that gets to me every time.

David Archuleta pours so much soul and emotion into “Apologize,” and that’s one reason why many of us prefer his version. Even better than the duet you’ve posted from the American Idol finale are the many excellent videos from last summer’s A.I. tour. Here is one of my favorite tour performances, from Tacoma, Washington. I attended this particular concert, and David sizzled that night!

From the moment he walked out on that American Idol stage approaching One Republic I knew he would blow everyone away with Apologize. Every single concert of the American Tour I waited for that song as David put his name on it and he owns it now. Yes, Yes, Yes a single would be fantastic.
Ruth, I agree with those who prefer David’s version of Apologize. When I hear the original on the radio now, it just makes me miss David, so I whip out my ipod and listen to the live version from the AI tour. I’m not sure a recorded version could be anywhere near as good as the live performances. When he sings live, he sings with such passion. He just explodes on stage.
I would love to see David do an entire album of covers of his favorite songs. Then he should do one for his fans covering their favorites, but I guess that would take a zillion albums for David to sing all the songs we want to hear. My wish is to hear him sing “Fields of Gold”, I can actually hear him singing it in my head and it makes me melt.

Ruth, I do love this song; it was my fav when David did it on the PopTarts/Idol Tour, and I would love to see David release it as a single, However, I think we have learned a lesson about asserting ourselves with Jive.
The last thing I would ever want to do is harm David’s career. I think that we should let Jive do what they do. Everyone says they know what they’re doing so let’s let them do it. If David’s career becomes jeopardized it won’t be because we asserted ourselves as David’s label.
I think in one of David’s last blogs he said that there
were some creative differences with the overview of the next album, so I think we should stay out of this and allow David to work with Jive to iron out these creative differences.

David Archuleta has been a popular topic today… after I blogged about him yesterday, it would appear that I’m not alone in wanting to get him to record his own version of OneRepublic’s Apologize.
So, with you – the David Archuleta lover in mind, I decided it was time we got a petition together that we could – provided we get enough signatures – present to his record label and hopefully get Apologize whizzing around in our CD player sometime soon.

I’m with you on this. This year someone did Apologize on AI, (I think Kris), and not to detract from him…but I found myself longing for David’s version which was so much more vocally powerful and emotionally charged. But then…that’s David on EVERY song! In fact…I honestly like his version better of every song he covers, and I have a growing list of songs in my head that I’d love to hear him sing!
I also agree with other poster re: Zero Gravity…I hear they
(the writers, David included) are forced to “shop this around” to other artists, as the record company passed on this for David’s 1st, and now even his 2nd cd to be…THAT is criminal!! And another song that I hear is beautiful called “Fighting For You” they also passed on and are shopping around. (I see more petitions in our future!) These songs should be David’s! He is so capable of singing a variety of styles, and the record company seems to be limiting him to a “certain brand” of pop; that’s grossly selling him short!
David elevates everything he sings.
