Goodbye Michael Jackson September 4, 2009

I can’t believe it’s finally over, the end of Michael Jackson. Final. Finito. I just can’t believe it, the singer was finally laid to rest before a select group of family and friends this morning – two months after his death.

The private ceremony was attended by 200 mourners and although it was scheduled for sunrise, guests including Liz Taylor, Macaulay Culkin and Chris Tucker were forced to wait more than an hour and a half in the outdoor seating area before the service got underway.

What’s more, the camera’s which were hired by the Jackson family, refused to let the video focus on Jacko’s first wife, Lisa Marie Presley – and I can’t help but think that at a time like this, should we really be saying who we do and don’t want at the King Of Pop’s funeral? She is grieving just like everyone else.

According to The Sun, each guest was given a ‘programme’ for the ceremony; it opened with words taken from Jackson’s book Dancing The Dream: “If you enter the world knowing you are loved and leave the world knowing the same, then everything that happens in between can be dealt with.” And personally, I think never a more fitting word has been said about this legend.

Clips from the ceremony have been released to the press cemetery in video footage commissioned by the Jackson family, and from helicopter footage on Sky News, you could see brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Randy carrying the coffin as well as watch as his children Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and Blanket, seven, placed private notes inside their father’s coffin.

The most troubling thing for me though, is that it is thought that Jackson’s family has bought 12 plots within Forest Lawn’s sprawling memorial garden, so that his fans will have no idea where the singer is buried.

I totally understand that they don’t want some MJ fanatic coming along and digging up his remains, but whilst the family loved Michael, so did so many of his fans… and too be able to come and lay flowers at his final resting place would mean so much to many people, keeping Michael’s resting place a secret will only make fans more determined to descend of the cemetery to try and work out where their hero is.

It still seems so surreal to me, that this musical hero won’t be around any longer. He might have been accused of some terrible things in his life, and could have done things in other ways to please the critical public… but that was Michael, he was who he was, and the world won’t be the same without him.

Rest In Peace Michael: “We laughed at him because he was different. He laughed at us because we were all the same. We will never laugh the same again.”

Ruth. xx

Why are you posting tabloid junk? Did it ever occur to you that Lisa Marie didn’t want to be on camera and that is why she wasn’t shown? Lisa is a very private person and I don’t see any reason why she’d want to share her grief with the world. They certainly didn’t give her a break over the years. She was lampooned for marrying Michael and having the nerve to love him.

The move was not done in malice and surely had nothing to do with Elvis. If anything, Lisa Marie herself probably requested it. Why do you think she was sitting way in the back?
