Its all over the news that Obama/The White House has snubbed Brown/ The U.K.
Gordon Brown was said to be desperate to meet with President Obama, but after being brushed aside managed (a wide-ranging chat after a UN dinner) without the spin a trot through the kitchens of a New York hotel to have a walk and talk.
Brown put in his place then, The out cries of what about the special relationship Obama has dumped it.
Why the snub because despite denials a snub it is.
Is it that as a self serving polotician Obama is looking to the Pacific Rim (which includes Japan and China, Australia, Canada, Mexico and Chile) these are more important to U.S.- which, in case someone hasn’t noticed, is itself a Pacific country.
Or maybe it’s because there is a geopolitical repositioning away from the west and the oil dollar towards the east as the new financial powerhouse, one point the US should take on board in this changing scenario America is also on the losing side, they just don’t realise it yet.with counties like Chile out performing its northern nieghbour
Could it be that Obama views Brown as Prime Minister with a limited time left in power and does not want to waste any time on discussions.Or maybe President Obama is starting to believe his own doubters who are starting to label him as a one term President and when looking at Gordon Brown sees a reflection of a man losing power.
But it is probablely nothing more than Gordon Brown wanting a photo opportunity with a President who has what he sees as more relevant issues to discuss with other people. All this is pure conjecture after all none of us are privvy to the thoughts of either man, but it keeps us amused.
