Jules Knight’s Blake Blog

Hello everybody. My name is Jules and I’m in a group called Blake. And today we’re in the Offices of Female First with all of the lovely people who work here, and they’ve asked us to basically do their job for them, while they go down the pub.

So we’re here, drinking their tea, and eating their pies that they left us and stealing all the freebies that they get sent. We’ve already amassed quite a big haul, some of which we may sell in Cash Converters when we get back to London. We may keep the mascara though. For the weekends. There is also a new washing machine that has just been delivered from Comet, and we’re hoping to put it in the back of our tour bus and take it back to London (please don’t tell them because I really need it, because my one is broken and this one looks like quite a good one).

So as you may know, our new album, ‘Together’ comes out on Monday 12th October and basically its really good and you should buy it. We’re all really excited because we reckon it’s the best one yet, and we’re really chuffed because we’ve been asked to go and perform some songs with Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Estelle in New York next week. I haven’t been to New York since I was young and I’m not really sure where the best places to go are. However, I have been watching Gossip Girl and so that’s going to help me a lot. I’m very keen to meet Blake Lively too. So please facebook us, or Twitter @TheBandBlake, if you have any tips on what we should do when we are in New York. Or if you know where to find Blake Lively. That would be really helpful. Thanks.

We’ve just had some bad news actually because a friend of ours has been blown up in Afghanistan and he’s really not very well at all. So we decided we should try and do something to help, and have therefore set up some links on the homepage of our website www.blakeofficial.com. There are four charities we have decided to support with this album – Mind, Marie Curie Cancer care, Teenage Cancer Trust and Help for Heroes.

If you follow the Amazon links on our homepage, then we will donate £1 for every album purchased to one of these four charities. I can guarantee that apart from loving the album, if you buy it this way, then you will also receive a nice warm feeling inside for doing such a worthy deed, and so you really can’t lose. It’s like a win – win situation. Pretty cool really.

I’ve become massively obsessed with the Tudors recently, and seeing as I have been away, all I can say is thank God for Sky Plus. I watched the two previous series, downloading them on iTunes which cost me an arm and a leg. Incidentally, why on earth have iTunes put the price up from £1.79 to £2.49? Hello? I thought they were trying to encourage people to stop downloading illegally? Making legal downloads more expensive isn’t the best plan!

Anyway, the Tudors is awesome. It’s got a kind of glossy American quality to it, but without the cheesiness and the bad acting that you sometimes see. It’s a perfect mix of impressive American production values (cue the American voiceover-‘Previously on the Tudors’) and good old British intelligence, and the result is that the script is clever and subtle rather than obvious and crass, and the acting is generally brilliant.

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is amazing as Henry VIII, playing a slightly different King that you might expect. He’s a good looking, intense guy with a hot temper, rather than a fat bloater. Add model and actor Henry Cavill into the mix, and most of the female viewing public are in danger of fainting (lucky they are sitting on the sofa). So don’t be put off by the ‘historical’ vibe, it’s full of action and sex-its cracking viewing. My advice would be to order the first series pronto.

My final word is that I would be very grateful if you bought our album on Monday. We think you will really like it. Hope to meet you at a live gig soon. Check www.blakeofficial.com for more details.

Lots of Love, Jules. x

About Ruth

Word up! I am the music editor at FemaleFirst.co.uk. My favourite bands are Nightwish, Biffy Clyro and A Day To Remember. I do have rather biglove for the Now Thats What I Call Music CD's though. Katie Price annoys me but I love how she's made a name for herself by being annoying. That takes some work.
