Stephen Gately : How Will You Remember Him?

Stephen Patrick David Gately (17 March 1976 – 10 October 2009)

Stephen Gately of Boyzone attends the UK Premiere of 'Up' on October 4, 2009 in London, England.

Stephen Gately’s death has shattered the pop music industry over the past few days, but as tributes flood in for the late star, we want to know how you will remember him?

As we await the finding’s of the stars autopsy, I have decided to share my own opinions of Stephen and how he shaped my life… it might not be your idea of a tribute, but it’s from the heart….

Growing up I loved Boyzone, they were plastered all over my bedroom walls, pencil case and school books, and every evening after school I would shut myself in the living room and spent the hours before The Bill came on ITV making up dance routines to their songs.

Whilst I never did get a job as their backing dancer (I was only 14 at the time) it was my love for the band which spawned my first celebrity crush, and that was on Stephen Gately himself!

I always remember when my friend Joanne told me he was gay, I was devastated (I was actually convinced we could fall in love and get married one day!!) we were on the bus to school and I refused to believe it was true, until I got into my I.T lesson and Googled it!

Either way, I still loved their music and soon found a replacement crush in the shape of Mark Feehily from Westlife, who as it happens, is also gay… I don’t half know how to pick ‘em do I?

Anyway, that’s something that always makes me smile when I think about how Stephen Gately impacted my life, so, please, share your thoughts with me.

Word up! I am the music editor at FemaleFirst.co.uk. My favourite bands are Nightwish, Biffy Clyro and A Day To Remember. I do have rather biglove for the Now Thats What I Call Music CD's though. Katie Price annoys me but I love how she's made a name for herself by being annoying. That takes some work.

doesn’t matter if he is gay, he would not pick us anyhow. they usually pick the dancer or the model since they have a good body. i do enjoy so much steo’s angel voice on ‘no matter what’ his voice is so matched with ronan.
i am so proud of him to have a lovely, handsome husband. andrew cowles. such a beautiful smile. so heart broken that andrew is gay!!! i do believe that steo was happy meeting andrew, he became alive since. it doesn’t matter what happen in the last hours of steo’s death, he will forgive andrewcause he did a lot a lot for steo. do hope andrew can find the second happyness.
does anybody know how’s andrew’s recently. i really care about him. he such a nice guy. his love is so real. not knowing steo for grand, it is a truth love. i wish he should forgive himself and live happyly forever.
