Prince of Persia Trailer November 3, 2009
Posted by Helen in : Movies , add a commentThe computer game movie tends not to fair very well at the box office, and there have been a few attempts in recent years.
But undeterred by the failings of other movies, how bad was Hitman?, the team that were behind Pirates of the Caribbean are bringing Prince of Persia to the big screen.
And no there are no second rate actors in this one as Jake Gyllenhall, Ben Kingsley and Gemma Arterton are all on the cast list for what should, hopefully, be one of the biggest movies of next summer.
Set in 9th century medieval Persia, a young adventurous prince uncovers a dangerous artifact in a remote mountain kingdom and with the help of an enemy princess, must stop a despot from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy all mankind.

Ruth’s Christmas Wish List November 3, 2009
Posted by Ruth in : Ruth's Ramblings , 1 comment so far
Fair enough I’ll be lucky if I get a piece of old bread out of anyone this Xmas but I’m hoping my mum / stepsister / housemate or Vivienne Westwood will take an interest in my life and have a peep at what I do for a living.
To be honest, my mum thinks the World Wide Web involves a huge spider like the one that wraps Frodo up in during the Lord Of The Rings – Return Of The King, so she’s out, but Antonia, you have no excuse….
The Music – Biffy Clyro – Only Revolutions

The Movie – PS I Love You

I used to live with the movies writer here so I had unrivalled access to her four massive cases of Check Disk’s that our faithful PR’s send out every week; but now that she’s gone, so have Gerard Butler and Harry Connick Jnr… as well as my hopes that not all the men on the planet will break my heart. Or die.
The Bling – Vivienne Westwood Orb Necklace

The Car – Citroen C3

Now, I’m not going to ask for a Porsche, Lotus or a Lamborghini (as I know my racing driver husband will buy me one of those when I find him), so I’m wanting a practical city car, and this is the car I passed my test in, so I’m thinking it’s a sign that I have to have one?
The Shoes – Christian Louboutin

Who else? I love shoes, I don’t know what it is with me… I hardly ever go out, so I have no need for 30 pairs of shoes in my bedroom, but I just can’t get enough of platforms… if I’m honest, with all the money I’ve spent on shoes which look identical over the years I probably could have afforded some of these. Saving never was my strong point…
I mean, I usually like men covered in tattoos and prancing around with a guitar, but he is just GORGEOUS, and he can drive. Okay, so I can drive, but he can really driiiiiive… I’ve even become a Marshal at Oulton Park in the hope of finding my own Vettel (Ahem, Victor Cox anyone….?) and obviously because I love motorsport! But just in case I don’t get to next years Grand Prix… call me!
Thanks Santa,
Ruth….xx
Lady GaGa WHAT Are You Wearing Now?! November 3, 2009
Posted by Ruth in : Music, Ruth's Ramblings , 1 comment so farLady GaGa has yet again unleashed her terrifying wardrobe choice on us, and at the same time has decided to celebrate Halloween a few days late….
Personally I think this rather odd ensemble she pranced around in at the Annual ACE Awards in New York – which looks rather like she’s got flour all over her after a failed baking session – just takes the *ahem* biscuit.
Okay, so maybe Lady GaGa was just making some cupcakes or a pizza before glancing at the clock and realising she had to be in NYC to pick up an award for accessories (they are giving awards for anything these days) but we’re not convinced.
I don’t think the whole lace helmet and bra-over-shit look is ever going to take off here in Wigan, but then again, I doubt any of GaGa’s fashion choices will…
What do you think? Halloween horror or Gaga-Tastic?

Invictus Trailer November 3, 2009
Posted by Helen in : Movies , add a commentWhen the Oscar nominations were released for te 2009 ceremony there were quite a few of us who were surprised to not see Clint Eastwood and his movie Grand Torino up for the major honours, let’s face it it’s one of the best movies of the year!
However Eastwood is back behind the camera with yet another movie in the form of Invictus, which reunites him with Morgan Freeman, and also stars Matt Damon.
Invictus is a biopic picture which looks at the life of Nelson Mandela after the fall of apartheid in South Africa during his first term as president when campaigned to host the 1995 Rugby World Cup event as an opportunity to unite his countrymen.
This movie has got Oscars written all over it, everyone knows that the Academy loves a biopic picture, and could see Freeman get his hands on the top prize.

Congratulations Coleen & Wayne Rooney!! November 3, 2009
Posted by Ruth in : Uncategorised , 3commentsColeen Rooney might just be my favourite celebrity mummy after giving birth to a baby boy named Kai in Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
Whilst the name could be a grower, Coleen definitely showed that her baby isn’t a status symbol by giving birth in a NHS hospital and reportedly refusing a £1 million deal for the first photos.
Wayne and Coleen have also agreed to try and keep their child out of the media spotlight as much as they can, which is something we’re huge supporters of here at FemaleFirst.
I know it can be hard to keep your child out of the press when you’re a huge megastar, but there’s a fine line between the odd pap shot when you’re in the park, and dragging them around with you, hoping for the perfect picture.
Now, it’s quite a deep issue I’m talking about here, I don’t have kids so I’ll probably get a load of mum’s disagreeing with me as well, but personally I think the likes of Angelina Jolie and Madonna are thrusting their kids into the media without the kids really having a say…. It’s true that the parents are responsible for their young children, but I know if my mother was famous, I’d like to make my own decision as to whether or not I followed in her footsteps.
On the other side of the coin though, Madge and Brangelina always have their kids with them and rarely leave them with a nanny or minder whilst they jet off to an exotic location with a their latest fling… and that’s where I’ve got to give Katie Price some credit…. I know people might not think she’s a great role model with her recent behaviour, but at least she pays a great deal of attention to her kids.
So, whilst I could ramble on about this forever, I’d quite like to you what you think… should the kids be left with a nanny and out of the media, or is it better to keep them with you but risk their faces being splashed across The Sun?
And is it ever a good idea to ‘sell’ you baby photos to a magazine, even if you’re claiming the money will go to their college fund? Surely if you’re that famous, you can afford to send your kids to college?

It seems as though Britney Spears has decided to adopt the mantra that ’sex sells’ and made her very own sex-fuelled video… have a sneaky peep….
Why is everyone making such a fuss over Rachel Adedeji being booted off The X Factor? I know she had a great voice, but after making a real spectacle of herself the week before with her Stacey impression, I’m glad to see the gback of her.
And speaking of The X factor, what the HELL was Cheryl Cole wearing on Saturday night? It looked like she’d leant over some dinner plates whilst covered in superglue… Lets face it Chezza, you’re never going to be Lady Gaga
Now I must admit I’m not one who blubs at every emotional movie that comes along but there are a handful that manage to get me sobbing into my hanky every time I sees them. So to celebrate the release of Bright Star this week we took a look at some of the most emotional tear-jerker movies of all time, The Green Mile gets me all the time!
After the great big fuss to-do and messing about last week for the premiere of This Is It it comes as no surprise to find that Michael Jackson’s behind the scenes movie has topped the American box office. Fans flocked to cinemas for one last chance to say goodbye to their hero and contemplate just how good those O2 shows might have been!
We are SO lucky this week to be having the gorgeous boys from The Blackout coming into our office, so make sure you send in your questions, but no marriage proposals please, I’m already asking for a diamond…
