Lucie Jones Out Whilst John & Edward Saved… WTF? November 9, 2009
Posted by Ruth in : Music, Ruth's Ramblings, TV , trackbackJohn and Edward might have been growing on me last week, but after seeing Lucie Jones miss out on another week on the show to that the pair of loons could live for another week has just left me gob smacked.
Lets be honest, I never really liked Rachel Adedeji and was glad to see the back of her last week, regardless of whether or not she had a ‘big voice’, Stacey Solomon impression on the 24th October was the final nail in her X Factor coffin for me.
But to see another huge vocalist go out of the competition last night when in the ‘sing off’ against Jedward has really left me furious this morning, but it’s not because they got the most public votes that has left me downing the Kenco this morning, but the fact that Simon Cowell didn’t get rid of them.
If you missed the show last night, you would have seen that after each act had sung, Louis voted to keep Jedward, whilst Cheryl and Danni voted to keep Lucie… and as Simon had made no attempt to hide his distaste towards John and Edward over the previous weeks, I felt certain we would finally be waving goodbye to the comedic pair.

But no! Simon decided to take it to deadlock because he didn’t believe “either of them could win the show,” so, rather than keeping the better singer (and the girl who I though had the most chance of winning) he decided to ‘let the public decide’ and inevitably it was Lucie who waved goodbye to her dream.
Lucie and Stacey are clearly the two biggest threats to Simon’s Over 25’s, because I think everyone is pretty certain that Danyl, Olly and Jamie probably have the most chance of winning should Danni lose her girls, and so it seems as though Simon was playing a very tactical game last night.
What’s more, what the hell was Danni doing? Couldn’t she remain dignified over the loss of her act? Whilst Lucie shed a few tears and said “they [the twins] deserve to be here, they work so hard” Danni turned into a mega-bitch and started moaning that we should get rid of all the good singers, and all start rapping next week. Oh come on Danni, grow up.
Either way, I think it’s appalling that the girl I wanted to see in the final three (alongside Olly and Jamie) has lost out on her dream to a pair of lads who can’t really sing, but at the same time, let’s not hate John and Edward, because they’re trying to achieve their dream too, and if more people voted for them than they did for Lucie then fair’s fair, but don’t whine if you didn’t pick up the phone and vote, because essentially that’s making you just as bad as Simon!
So, what are you all thinking? Did Simon know Lucie would be toast and get rid of her to preserve his own acts, and will the rest of the juidges crucify him the second on of his acts get in the final two? One thing’s for sure, it’s a good job it’s not Britain’s Got Talent, because it really doesn’t seem like this show is about talent anymore.
Ruth. x
I’m not upset at Jedward at all. They seem like sweet kids and they really did seem genuinely shocked that Lucie went while they stayed. I’m mad at Simon. He was being hypocritical saying he would judge based on the sing off when clearly he didn’t. Instead he takes it to a deadlock because it would’ve been a win win situation for him. Either the biggest threat to his Overs leaves or Jedward leaves. It’s all strategy with him because he only wants to win and it’s disgusting. I hope Jedward outlasts all of his Overs now because I’m a bitter person like that and am just so angry at Simon.
I have been watching the x factor since lucie’s first addition, what a moment!!! I have been waiting all week long simply to see lucie on a saturday night!!! What an outrage that those two pathetic losers put out the most promising x factor star!!! Those two idiots should never have been in the competition, it is supposed to be a singing contest not a clown show!!! Lucy Jones is a rare amazing talent, Good Luck in everything you do!!!
This is clearly not a show about singing anymore, even Louis knows that Jedward can’t sing, since his only defence for them is ‘they’re having fun’.
I think it was wrong for Lucie to go, personally I voted for everyone except those twins, it’s nothing against them, but they can’t sing and that’s what the show is meant to be about, or so we all thought. People are keeping those idiots in for comedy value alone. What about Olly? He can sing and entertain, the twins fail completely on the singing part.
Simon is a) saving his skin and preserving his own acts.
b) has been told by the producers to keep those clowns in to keep viewing numbers.
Either way, is that fair?
What a hypocrite Simon….he’s done nothing but moan about the twins and yet he won’t vote them off….what a sham…Lucie was one of the best contestants and I feel sorry for her. Shame on you Simon. Almost feel I don’t want to watch the show anymore…
JOHN & EDWARD are easily the most Talented musitions i have ever seen..both are extreamly Gifted ..they will win this easily and go on to perform in mega stadiums round the world..sell out gigs..millions of pounds made..films ..documentrys etc etc..they have the whole world in there hands..
Conspiracy Theory. I think John and Edward are related to an Irish Mafia family who initially put pressure on Louis to put them in the show and then had a quiet word with Simon during the break. It’s the only way I can explain the travesty that this year’s Xfactor has turned into.
i think the twins should have gone on sunday night here are rubbish slimon could not tell them to go.
Simon Cowell is 1) a hypocrite 2) a coward and 3) so totally obsessed with maing money that he rides roughshod over anybody that isn’t geared to this end. And Louis has now shown his true colours as well in the ignorant way that he shouted at Dermot. The X factor has become a complete farce and whoever has been engineered to win will do so, with or without the public vote. In any case we only have the information that Dermot’s been given regarding who the public voted for. No figures, no percentages just the names. This greedy, selfish, horrible show should be axed.
Well at least we can now be sure that it is a fix from start to finish, any doubt was removed on Sunday night.
X Factor Stars Lucie Jones and Laura White wowed audiences in Stockport last night at the Merseyway Shopping Centre Christmas Light celebrations. It was Lucie’s first live performance since her controversial exit from The X Factor this week.
