Rachel Adedeji Not So Dignified In Defeat? November 2, 2009

Posted by Ruth in : Music, TV , trackback

Rachel Adedeji might have become the fourth person to be booted off The X Factor last night, but did anyone else find it quite so uncomfortable to watch as I did?

Last Saturday saw her acting waaaaay too much like her fellow ‘Girl’ contestant Stacey Solomon with her “Oh my God, Oh My God, I can’t believe it, thank you thank you” speech. But yesterday night’s behaviour actually made me want to turn my TV off.

As my housemate and I were praying for cutie Lloyd’s safe passage, the body language from Rachel actually made us scream at the TV, it was just all wrong! Talk about being ungracious in defeat, I mean, she wouldn‘t even wipe her own tears away, it was limp arms at dawn!

I’ve got to admit though, Rachel did have an amazing voice and it is sad to lose such a diva-esque contestant, but I think Simon did the right thing by “letting the public decide” because let’s face it, if they kept her and she went on to win, there’s going to be very few people buying her album.

Personally I think Rachel’s true personality might not have come through on the show, because watching her ‘best bit’s’ VT on The Xtra Factor made me fall in love with her a little bit, but what’s done is done, so as we reach the halfway part, who do you think deserves to win?

Now the best singer has gone I’ve gone past caring, and I’m just going to take this show as a joke like everyone else. John and Edward to win please.

  2. steve says:

    johnand edward are total tossers

  3. Paul says:

As I watched Simon prepare to vote off the himbo with little real talent, I could not believe at how, after repeatedly remindind Loui that this ‘is a singing contest’, he totally bottled it and hid behind the public vote, knowing full well that it was most likely to be Rachael. In future I will think of him as Simon Coward, not Cowell.

Like many thousands of others I will not now be watching the rest of this series.

I suggest the voting is changed to WHO YOU WANT OUT!that would be a true reflection of the nations feelings. And not just the whims of a lot of pre-teens who lives revolve around their mobile phones

  4. Brad says:

I think whoever keeps voting for John and Edward
need to wakeup and smell the coffee its a joke
    going to far

“my housemate and I were praying for cutie Lloyd’s safe passage”

You encapsulate why women struggle to compete fairly in the world, admitting that talent comes second to what you find sexy.

Simon can not do this to live on public vote. Ther is 3 judges, if Simon did not want to decide, the choice of the 3 judges is to be consider, because it was 2 – 1. To go to dead lock if both contestant tie but they did not. Rachel is the winner.

  7. Ricardo says:

The world is a very mad place. If stupid little girls would grow up just a little.and stop thinking that it’s FUNNY to vote for two of the most sick little prats on the planet, the X factor would be worth watching again.

This programme has become a joke! Rachel has a fabulous voice and given a chance could be very big. Lloyd is never going to make it as he is weak and has no personality and the Twins are just ghastly! I am taking X Factor off series link as I am completely disgusted after Simon didn’t vote Lloyd off – how pathetic is he. Granted Lloyd had no voice last night, but there wasn’t a noteable difference!

  9. Ricardo says:

Rachel should not have gone. This is madness!!!.
    C’mon Simon get head !!

  10. Sam says:

The show is a joke when you are losing real talent for the sake of keeping those two idiots who can not sing or dance and are just replusive, each week that goes by with them in the show gives no credibility to the show being a singing contest….. they should never have even made it to the judges house / finals; I am sure if Rachel has any guts she will make it anyway. Simon get some b**ls and take control of your show

  11. Mike says:

Next week it will be danyl lol then the 2 best and most versatile singers in the competition will be gone. How pointless this show has become. Rachel will get a recording contract regardless, she impressed all the celebrity singer mentors ; whitney, robbie, buble etc so she won’t be ignored. I hope she laughs it up when she sees the winner of this show sink into obsurity when she starts earning her millions.

I love X Factor but I am seriously considering my future viewing as it has become a joke and is indicative of everything that is wrong in society! How someone as talented as Rachel can lose to a nice but no-where-near as talented Lloyd can only be put down to the pathetic public vote. I don’t and won’t vote as already pay my license fee and have to endure adverts so I am not inclined to line Mr Cowells pockets anymore. However, I really would have thought that the little girls who do vote would have greater sense than what is self evident with the continuing success of John and Edward. I thought I was going to give up last week with the two best being the two up for elimination but this week has gone from bad to worse with the judges joining in on the act!

All Rachel has to do is make contact with the great American producers who will snap her up in a second. Other than that she should consider going for American Idol because the American public (even the 8s to 14s) REALLY DO understand true talent and would leave the likes of “Jedward” for the “talent” shows.
Rachel, I know you are never going to read this but for 18 you are utterly phenomenal. Come on Jay-Zee/ Pharell et. al. give that girl a contract!
As for me. Sorry I’ve lost interest in X-factor. I give it about 2 more years…

  14. Ema says:

Rachel is a very talented girl and did not deserve to leave. X-Factor in my opinion is no longer a talent show. The judges should be ashamed of themselves.

  15. Emma says:

Did any of you vote to keep Rachel in? If not, you’re being pretty hypocritical.

What Simon said about Rachel is true; that the public just haven’t warmed to her. If they don’t like her enough to keep her on the show, I doubt they would want to buy a single or album by her.

The public get what the public wants, and they obviously didn’t want Rachel to stay in. You can say whatever you want about John and Edward, but people are still voting to keep them in.

  16. Justin says:

Rachel should have stayed. Stop voting for people because they are ‘cute’.
Last years contestants seem to be doing well!
Laura white has also got a new song out!

Hey, just need to say this! When I read your “As my housemate and I were praying for cutie Lloyd’s safe passage, the…” I thought…here it is… the reason I don’t get into watching the X Factor anymore!! I always thought that this show was about talent and not about who is cute, or who looks the most ridiculous in a red spandex suit…?!?! If you can’t sing, you should go!! The stupit public who doesn’t get that and thinks that it’s fun to vote people off, because they think it’s all a laugh, really need to get there heads checked!!
This is a show on TV…yes I get that…but it’s also a way for a very talented person to make it into the music industry!

A bit of cop on people!!

  18. Andrew Bandango says:

A true talent lost to us all. The sooner the judges realise this is about the talent on the stage & not about them the better. The next change in their line-up should be to remove Simon.

  19. Andrew Bandango says:

I stopped watching this last year when Laura was wrongly kicked out; Sat / Sun was 1st time since & another talent was knocked back.
Vote for Laura & Rachel to be re-instated.
    3rd November 2009.
    Thank you

  20. CW says:

but jusr remember last year when Alexandra Burke won, she was embarrassing. she was incoherent she was crying so hard, all the way through. I thought Rachel wish upset but very dignified. The whole show is a joke
