More The Lovely Bones Images

The Lovely Bones is another movie that is already causing a bit of an Oscar stir.

The adaptation of Alice Sebold’s popular novel sees Peter Jackson returns to the director’s chair for the first time since King Kong in 2005.

However he has been very busy with producing the likes of District 9 and Tintin.

The movie focuses on a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family – and her killer – from heaven.

She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.

It’s great to see Jackson move away from the big budget blockbuster and The Lovely Bones looks set to be one of the early must see movies of 2010.

Is Alanis Morissette Actually Glamorising Marijuana?

Alanis Morissette might have been one of my favourite singers back when I was a kid, but after hearing her talking quite openly about her love of marijuana, I’m a bit shocked.

Now, I know it’s not some big scandal these days when a celebrity is spotted smoking a bit of the whacky backy, I mean, it’s a common occurrence outside my local rock club on a Friday night, but still shouldn’t famous people be setting some kind of example?!

Apparently Alanis reckons the drug helps in her songwriting process… but even if it does, can she really think it’s a good idea to start sounding off about it? Especially when kids look up to her?

What’s more, in her interview with High Times magazine – she’s not only talking about her love for Cannabis, but also poses for lots of lovely pictures in a marijuana garden in California. Brilliant.

She tells the publication, “I’m all about moderation – as best I can be. As an artist, there’s a sweet jump-starting quality to it (marijuana) for me. I’ve often felt telepathic and receptive to inexplicable messages my whole life. I can stave those off when I’m not high. When I’m high – well, they come in and there’s less of a veil, so to speak. So if ever I need some clarity… or a quantum leap in terms of writing something, it’s a quick way for me to get to it.

“I have a lot of friends who have wanted to specifically quit smoking marijuana because they felt that it was having a negative effect on their lives, and I absolutely supported them doing so. Then I have other friends who I’ve coerced into smoking because I thought it would be great for them.”

Morissette credits boyfriend Tom Ballanco, a medical marijuana advocate, with showing her the drug’s benefits, adding, “I’ve always resonated with people who are on the front lines. I’ve always felt that way about Tom and about the community around him – Woody Harrelson, Alicia Silverstone. I have a lot of friends around me who are very courageous and willing to ‘come out’ – and Tom is definitely beyond the front lines. Any fears that I had about cannabis were quickly assuaged. Now I feel like a professional!”

Hmm, maybe if Alanis saw some of the kids failing school because they were too busy getting high to do any studying, she wouldn’t be blaze about it all?

Exclusive Youth In Revolt Trailer

November has already been the month of moustaches as a result of Movember, the charity challenge which has seen men worldwide grow a “mo”.

When we first spotted this image we thought one of our favourite stars Michael Cera (of Juno fame) had taken the Movember challenge- but it turns out it’s part of his look for his upcoming film.

Based on the acclaimed novel by C.D. Payne, Youth in Revolt is the story of Nick Twisp a unique, but affable teen with a taste for the finer things in life like Sinatra and Fellini who falls hopelessly in love with the beautiful, free-spirited Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday) while on a family vacation.

But family, geography and jealous ex-lovers conspire to keep these two apart. With Sheenis encouragement, Nick abandons his dull, predictable life and develops a rebellious alter ego: Francois.

With his ascot, his moustache and his cigarette, Francois will stop at nothing to be with Sheeni, and leads Nick Twisp on a path of destruction with unpredictable and uproarious consequences.

Youth in Revolt is in cinemas from 5th February 2010.

First Iron Man 2 Poster

Ok it’s fair to say that Iron Man 2 is already the movie that I’m looking forward to most next year.

Set to be released in May the film sees Robert Downey Jr return to the role as Tony Stark aka Iron Man.

Also returning to the franchise is Gwyneth Paltrow with some new faces inthe form of Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell and Don Cheadle.

So for those who are super excited about the latest Marvel release take a look at the first poster for the film.

First Voyage of the Dawn Treader Images

2009 hasn’t come to an end yet and we are already looking forward to some of the big movies of 2010.

And one of those films comes in the from of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

The third film in the franchise sees Michael Apted take over directing duties as Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley return to their roles of Caspian, Edmund and Lucy.

Lucy and Edmund Pevensie return to Narnia with their cousin Eustace where they meet up with Prince Caspian for a trip across the sea aboard the royal ship The Dawn Treader.

Along the way they encounter dragons, dwarves, merfolk, and a band of lost warriors before reaching the edge of the world.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is due to hit UK cinemas next December.

Up In The Air Trailer

The very lovely George Clooney is back on the big screen in the new year with his latest movie Up In The Air.

He’s been a busy boy of late with The Men Who Stare At Goats and Fanatastic Mr Fox under his belt but Up In The Air is the movie getting all the attention.

It’s already surrounded in Oscar whispers so could George be the road to another Oscar?

The movie is directed by Jason Reitman, the man behind Juno, and is definitely one to keep an eye on during the awards season.

Ryan Bingham is a corporate downsizing expert whose cherished life on the road is threatened just as he is on the cusp of reaching ten million frequent flyer miles and just after he’s met the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams.

Take a look at the trailer for the movie:

Katie Price Might Be Getting Back With Alex Reid (Yawn!)

Okay, so sorry if I’ve angered you by using a purely speculative headline here, but keeping up with Katie Price’s love life is almost as difficult as threading the string though all of these baubles which I’m planning to hang on the FemaleFirst tree.

So, she shocked us all when she announced that was dumping Alex Reid on live television, but to be honest, we all saw it coming, especially since she’d been whining on about Pete during her week-long jungle stay.

But now it seems like she might be crawling back with her tail between her legs (is that because Peter still doesn’t want her back?) and has told Hello! magazine that she may take the cage fighter back; “I was really falling for the guy and I can’t just switch off feelings like that.

“I’m not entirely ruling out anything between us. At the moment I’m absolutely livid about the whole situation. Alex insists he didn’t give the proposal story to a newspaper, but I think he has been very naive. If things get sorted out, then fabulous. If not, I’ll be on my own”

The only problem I have with that statement is, Katie, you make your living from selling stories to the papers, so how can she condemn Alex for taking after his missus?

Personally, if I was Alex and my bird had said to a major magazine; “Peter was always on my mind – not that I want to get back with him, but I was hoping he was watching and thinking, ‘That’s the girl I married. She’s still the same’.”  I’d tell her to hop it.
