Joe McElderry might think that stating he’s never heard the Rage Against The Machine song that is currently whipping his ass in the charts might make him seem cool, but it’s probably only going to encourage fans to buy more copies of the single to ensure he doesn’t make the Christmas number one.
According to an article on The Sun Online, the Geordie manufactured popstar said that he’d be gutted if he didn’t get the Christmas number one and admitted he hadn’t even heard Rage Against The Machine’s song!
I mean come on mate, play the game, if you’re going to go up in a chart battle you could at least give the band some respect? I bet even my mum has heard the RATM track… and to start acting like you don’t know who they are is just adding fuel to the fire.

Okay, so I bet he’s a really lovely boy and when he appears on The Chris Moyles Show tomorrow he will appeal for people to help him get to number one and so on, but Joe, you have years to get to number one (providing you don’t end up in Butlins) so why not work hard and then feel the benefits rather than just expecting everything at once?
The fact that Joe said he would be gutted if he missed out on the number one spot just goes to show how highly these X Factor kids view themselves… is there no rehearsing in your parent’s garages any more? Sending your tapes off to record labels or handing our free CD’s after gigs? This is no longer about beating the X Factor reign, but about showing that you can’t enter a singing contest and expect to be number one overnight… well, if you want respect that is.
What do YOU think? Does Joe deserve to be number one because he sung a song once a week? Or should it be rage Against The Machine, who have waited for this moment since 1992?
I know which one I’m buying.
