Lemar – Greatest Hits. Yes Lemar Does Have SOME Hits.

I know that headline night be a bit mean, but come on Lemar and Greatest Hits are just three words which shouldn’t be in the same sentence!

Okay, I concede that he’s got an AMAZING voice, and he is quite hot, but I really don’t understand where his label have got this idea that he has enough ‘hits’ to warrant a whole album dedicated to his back catalogue.

Either way though, in a bid to promote the release of his new single, The Way Love Goes, on Valentine’s Day, the soul brother is going to be bringing out a collection of songs on March 1.

According to the Press Release I received, this will be Lemar’s fifth album since 2003 and he has “proved himself to be an enduring talent, one of Britain’s best loved voices, and a true pioneer of the UK Urban scene, paving the way for the current crop of artists who are ruling the charts and airwaves.’ Okay….

So, out of the track listing there are the ‘amazing tracks‘, or as we know them here at FemaleFirst, ‘the singles which were released,’ ‘Dance (With U)’, ‘50/50’, ‘If There’s Any Justice’, ‘It’s Not That Easy’ and ‘Time To Grow’.

We don’t mean to be horrible, as Lemar has a cracking voice… but a ‘greatest hits’ is just a bit ambitious don’t you think? Either way, will YOU be buying it?

About Ruth

Word up! I am the music editor at FemaleFirst.co.uk. My favourite bands are Nightwish, Biffy Clyro and A Day To Remember. I do have rather biglove for the Now Thats What I Call Music CD's though. Katie Price annoys me but I love how she's made a name for herself by being annoying. That takes some work.

Forgot he had so many amazing songs!! Good to have them all in one place :-)
Love the new one and cant wait to hear the other new ones.
JLS song sounds like it might be interesting!
Bring on album number 6 after this. But first…
Heres to hoping he tours again this year!!!!
    Fab

PS: I ‘WILL’ be buying :-)

You really are a bunch of wallies! The guy has sold over 2 million albums won two brit awards
and 3 mobo awards and had at least 8 top 20 hits. He is one of the UK’s most successful
solo artists. It’s not that he has not got the hits it’s that he has been completely
underrated. If he was American we’d all be saying how wonderful he is. Alot of his best material is
on the albums and it’s been surprising that the label has not released more of his tracks. But I challenge FF
to listen to heart rending tracks such as Mayday on the last Album The Reason and not come
to the conclusion that this guy is class. It’s you idiots who miss out by not buying his records
and coming up with stupid sarcasm. Just because he is an album rather than a singles artist
    doesn’t mean he isn’t brilliant.

an album artist rather than a singles artist? You mean none of his singles sell, what possible other reason is there to be an album artist? I doubt anyone chooses to be an album artist, at least not someone so young

      • Master Gee

Susan Boyle was the biggest selling album last year without a big hit single but artists like Paulo Nutini
Florence and the machines Little Boots Paloma Faith had big selling albums without major hit singles.
Hit albums are where the money is at after all. Taio Cruz may have a had a number one single
but the album has’t sold well. Lemar has at least built up a consistent back catalogue of hits and sold albums. Credit where credit its due

The original blog is clearly a subjective opinion. Lemar has had a string of top forty hits, secured 2 BRITS and a shelf full of MOBOs and other awards to boot. His tours also consistently sell-out. Longevity has been the key to Lemar’s success, unlike many other acts emerging from the reality genre. Because he’s a class act he’ll still be around in 5 years time. He writes and produces too, so a good all-rounder. And no, the headline isn’t mean but neither is it ironic, which I think was the intention.

    Ruth,
I think your abit if an arse!! Not to be rude!! Lemar is the only male soul singer in the country that can sell an album too the teens to the grannies!! He’s terribly underated and journists like you annoy me! Speak out about the talentless and not the talented as your views seem to be one sided.
I’m sure Lemar isn’t worried about you and your little blog but get the info right. The album is called “the hits” and his fans love his songs not the greatest hits or the greatest songs of all the time, “the hits”. If you have nothing nice to say shut up!!
