The Lovely Bones Clips

Peter Jackson’s adaptation of Alice Sebold’s The Lovely Bones makes it onto the big screen today.

The movie brings together a great cast of Susan Sarandon, Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg and Stanely Tucci with Saoirse Ronan in the central role of Susie Salmon.

Susie Salmon, a young girl who has been murdered, watches over her family, and her killer, from heaven.

She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.

Take a look at a couple of clips from the movie:

Toy Story 3: Introducing Buttercup

If you are getting excited about the new Toy Story movie then we have another new character to introduce you to.

It’s hard to believe that the first Pixar movie hit the big screen back in 1995, yes 1995, but Toy Story 3 will be one of the big movies of the summer.

Saddle up for fun and let Buttercup lead your child away on a magical adventure! This cuddly unicorn features velvety-soft, snow-coloured fur with sparkly gold and pink accents.

He sports a signature mythical golden horn and a fun-to-comb mane and tail. Buttercup’s durable plastic eyes are both charming and scratch-resistant. Hypo-allergenic. Ages 3 and up.

Woody and Buzz had accepted that their owner Andy would grow up someday, but what happens when that day arrives?

In the third installment, Andy is preparing to depart for college, leaving his loyal toys troubled about their uncertain future.

Micmacs Trailer

Jean-Pierre Jeunet returns to the director’s chair next week with his latest movie Micmacs.

It’s his first picture since A Very Long Engagement, which starred Audrey Tautou, back in 2004.

Bazil (Dany Boon) doesn’t have much luck when it comes to weapons. When he was a child, his parents were killed by a bomb in the Moroccan desert.

Years later, as an adult, his life is seriously endangered when a freak accident leaves a stray bullet lodged in his brain.

Leaving hospital with the knowledge that he could die suddenly at any moment, Bazil is homeless and hopeless.

Luckily for him, he falls in with a motley crew of modern-day ragpickers – Remington, Calculator, Fracasso, Cupboard The Rubber Mome, Pierre Petit and Tambouille.

As eccentric as they are talented, these ‘Micmacs’ live their remarkable subterranean lives in a home that resembles Ali Baba’s cave of delights.

One day, while passing two imposing buildings, Bazil recognizes the initials of the two arms manufacturers that caused his misfortunes. Aided by his plucky gang of cranks, he decides to take revenge…

Elton John Reckons “Jesus Was A Gay Man”

Uh-Oh, it looks as though the Pope will be throwing away his Elton John collection after the piano-playing pop star has claimed in a new interview that Jesus was a gay man.

Now, I know the world is far less homophobic now, but there is still the odd person worshipping God who still can’t get their head around the whole man-love issue, and that’s fine, but let’s not anger them any more eh Elton?

The comments – which are pretty much guaranteed to cause outrage all over the world – were made as Elton discussed the state of the world in a recent magazine interview, with him saying; “I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving. I don’t know what makes people so cruel.”

Oh dear, this looks like it’s all going to kick off today, okay so I’m all for being open to what Jesus looked like, as we don’t have any snaps of him enjoying an iced tea in Jerusalem, but considering being gay is looked down upon by the largest Jesus-worshipping religion, it might not have been the wisest thing to say, especially since he was going out with Mary Magdalene anyway, and I’m sure he wasn’t cheating on her.

I reckon he’s been getting too many publicity stunt tips off his new celebrity best mate Lady GaGa… but are YOU offended?

Ruth’s Friday Frosting

Cheryl Cole ditched her wedding ring at the Brit awards, but yesterday she was snapped at Heathrow Airport yesterday wearing a ring on her wedding finger, so we all assumed she hadn’t given up on her marriage just yet. However, as usual in the world of celebrity, nothing is as simple as that, and it’s since emerged that the rock on her finger was actually a ’decoy’ ring, and not the actual wedding band given to her by Ashley. Blimey!

Kerry Katona and her husband Mark Croft are on and off more times than the heater in our office – that’s a lot by the way – and now it seems that the pair are ‘off’ once again after Mark accused her of having an affair.

Liam Gallagher has proven that his is actually a kn*bhead (Peter Kay’s words, not ours) by Twittering @ him, “Listen up fat f*ck, as a real northerner I was brought up 2 say shit 2 people’s faces not behind their back. Live forever LG.” Obviously LG stands for Liam Gallagher, and not the phone, but mouthing off on Twitter isn’t exactly saying it to ‘their faces’ now is it Liam?

It’s nice to see that the Oscar battle hasn’t turned nasty as James Cameron has admitted he will be cheering for Kathryn Bigelow at next month’s Oscars. She would become the first female to win Best Director… lets face it we would all love to see a little bit of history!

It’s almost the weekend, it keeps coming round quick, and if you haven’t planned what you are going to see at the cinema this weekend then let FemaleFirst give you a helping hand. Solomon Kane may not have had a huge advert campaign but it’s definitely worth a watch. We absolutely loved it!

Over lunch today the staff in the FemaleFirst office got chatting about the TV shows we use to love as a kid, I mean everything from the High School likes of the kids in Sweet Valley High and Saved By The Bell, to the super power stories of Sabrina The Teenage Witch, The Secret Life Of Alex Mac and Bernard’s Watch. We have decided to pay tribute to these shows, and we start with Sweet Valley High.
