Karly Ashworth : ‘What’s Your Virginity Worth?!’

Hello everyone, I hope you’re all loving the sunshine in the UK and looking forward to a great summer!

After hearing a very surprising story this week, I was glad to see that it was thumbs down and legs crossed for the Women of Melbourne when asked about a local documentary-makers idea: Two women’s virginity for money.

Yup, you heard right, it’s like modern-day prostitution wrapped up in a little television-friendly pink bow! I couldn’t believe my ears!! A bloke called Justin Sisely is after making his name in telly at the expense of two virgins – by giving them  $20,000 to be sold at auction in the US before spending the night with the lucky winning bidder.

Shocking as it may seem, the fact that Justin is going to take the ladies to the US for the live in camera auction means that he can escape the potential prostitution prosecution offences here in Victoria, Australia! How on Earth can this be deemed good TV viewing? To me, this guy just sounds like a pimp with his ‘documentary maker’ mask on who thinks he can make what is essentially just selling sex, look like a viable research project. I sit here and wonder what his cut is going to be in all this?!

Not only is the whole concept wrong from the start… I am furious that it all seems a bit prejudiced towards women – why is it that only women’s virginity is for sale? Is it worth more than a mans? I just don’t get it! Now don’t get me wrong, I am totally against selling your body for a price but it‘s not my decision is it? I suppose if the ladies are willing to and were going to loose their virginity in a much less exciting fashion, then we cant call it “prostitution” can we?

The only concern I have is, how many women are still virgins? Okay I know there are bound to be a few out there, but the number of ‘entrants’ for this documentary are likely to be younger girls who think of the money and not the repercussions of their actions. They will be seen on TV giving away their innocence for a wad of cash – what about when they go for a job at 25? That ‘tag’ will stay with them for the rest of their lives, whether we like to admit to it or not.

Whilst I think the idea of this TV show see’s us exploring a very taboo subject, I’m known for my honest brutality and you know what, as much as we like to think it’s so wrong for these ladies to do this, 90% of our first times were probably 100 times worse than this guys idea! At least if you were selling it for $20,000 you would be too busy thinking about what you were going to spend that fat cheque on rather than how terrible the sex is, and if it was really that bad, you could cry away in your brand new Range Rover…

Tell me ladies (and men) what do you think of it? Will it ever be right to sell your body for a lump sum, do circumstances define whether it’s right or wrong

very valid point! and thank you so much to bringing this to our attention…i fully agree that this show is un-ethical and sends out the um-moralistic message to young girls the world over, but if they must do this show then there should be an equal representation of both men and women to be auctioned….i think its despicable that they should sell someone’s virginity live on television but should they choose to ammend the show and invite a fella on it to make it fair then contact me ;) i might not have my full virginity but ill settle for a small discount in price on account of this lol all joke’s aside its still pretty shocking to see the lengths that individuals will go to these days to draw television viewers/fame and money! what has the world come too….. stay tuned!!! coming in july…..new reality show of man who is cloned with a giraffe and auctioned off on ebay to the highest bidder! what next? send all idea’s to my inbox! lol

you tell’em karly karls! kick sum ass!

IN MODERN TIMES EVERY THING IS HAVING MARKET VALUE WHETHER IT IS THING OR LIVING
    PHYSICAL STRUCTURE.IT MAY FETCH 200$ OR 2 MILLION $

  3. Since the economy has gotten scary; jobs scarce, prices are much higher, etc. I see middle age people in college trying to get more education for a better job. Then there are advertisements on t.v. selling stripper poles to young women as ‘exercise’ equipment. This isn’t the first buying and selling virginity story I’ve heard of. But it does seem geared more to get women into thinking of ways of using their bodies. And maybe inadvertantly showing men how to use women to make make money.
