Biutiful Trailer

Since his career defining turn in No Country For Old Men, Javier Bardem, who won an Oscar for his performance, has become one of Hollywood’s most sought after actors.

And he is back with new movie Biutiful, which sees him team up with critically acclaimed filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu.

The director has brought us movies such as Amores Perros, 21 Grams and Babel but Biutiful is his first film since To Each His Own Cinema back in 2007.

Biutiful is the story of Uxbal. Devoted father. Tormented lover. Mystified son. Underground businessman. Friend of the disposed. Ghost seeker. Spiritual sensitive. A survivor at the invisible margins in today’s Barcelona.

Uxbal, sensing the danger of death, tries to reconcile with love and save his children, as he tries to save himself.

Uxbal’s story is simple: just one of the complex realities that we all live in today.

Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale Trailer

On the eve of Christmas in northern Finland, an archeological dig unearths Santa Claus.

This particular Santa, however, isn’t the one you want coming to town. When most of the town’s children go missing, Pietari and his father, a local hunter named Rauno, come into possession of the mythological being.

Rauno’s clan of hunters attempt to cash in on the opportunity by selling Santa back to the misguided leader of the multinational corporation sponsoring the dig.

What ensues is nothing short of a wildly humorous nightmare – a fantastically bizzare polemic on modern day morality.

Filmclub at Burke and Hare Premiere

Burke & Hare is released this week and the movie sees Sion Pegg and Andy Serkis join forces to tell the tale of Scotland’s most notorious serial killers.

William Burke and William Hare are scratching out a living in 1830s Edinburgh. After yet another failed business venture, they return to Hare’s lodging house to find that their tenant has suddenly died on rent day.

As the boys decide how to dispose of the body over a drink, they discover that a corpse can fetch a hefty price.

Edinburgh is the centre of the medical universe and the city’s doctors are crying out for more cadavers for their educational lectures.

First they try the infamous Dr. Monro, but he’s not interested, so they sell the corpse to Dr. Knox, his vain and ambitious rival who urges them to bring any more ‘unfortunates’ they may stumble upon.

Entrepreneurial Hare is quick to realize they’ve hit on a great money making venture and despite the more sensitive Burke’s misgivings, they embark on a series of plans to secure more bodies.

They arrange a series of deadly ‘accidents’ for the local unfortunates and to celebrate their success, they go out on the town to celebrate. There, Burke meets GINNY, a beautiful and spirited aspiring actress.

In a series of hilarious comic misadventures Burke and Hare begin to secure a steady stream of bodies and the cash starts rolling in.

Ruth’s Thursday Thing

Now, we all love a bit of Jedward, but there’s a line with these twin you shouldn’t cross, and yelling at them to get their kit off is quite possibly a little TOO much.

Cher Lloyd has once again succeeded in making her fellow X Factor buddies see red after it emerged that super producer Labrinth wants to get his hands on her.

Could this be the end of Michelle Williams’ Strictly Come Dancing stint? She’s only gone and gotten herself an ankle injury.

Diana Vickers! Bloody hell. Her last album was okay (it wasn’t great, but it wasn’t rubbish) so what on EARTH is she doing now? When I saw her performing this on the X Factor I was transfixed. But not in a good way.

Ruth xx
