Michael Jackson’s Got A Guinness World Record. Despite Being Dead.

Guinness World Records, the global authority on record breaking, today confirms that a poster erected to mark the release of Michael Jackson’s ‘Michael’ album (released 13th December) has set a new record as the world’s largest poster.

Guinness World Records confirmed that the poster of Michael Jackson’s ‘Michael’ measures 171ft by 170ft with a total surface area of 29,070 ft², smashing the previous record – held by the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver – by more than 110 ft².

To put it into perspective, the ‘Michael’ poster would take over three quarters of the pitch at Wembley stadium, is longer than the equivalent of six Routemaster buses end-to-end and if upright would be higher than Nelson’s column.

The poster, made of PVC and weighing one ton, took engineers three hours to install – and is less than 3,000 meters from one of Heathrow’s main runways, literally viewable by all planes arriving/ departing.

The poster will stay at what will be known as ‘Michael’s Field’ until 23rd December, after which, the poster will travel via sea container into continental Europe where it will be toured and displayed.

Michael Jackson’s Guinness World Records include:

  • World’s best-selling album for ‘Thriller’
  • Highest annual earnings for a pop star from 1989 and this record remains unbroken 21 years later
  • Most hit singles on UK singles chart in one year in 2006 when Michael had 19 singles in the UK Top 40

Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon Teaser Trailer

Now I think it’s fair to say that the second Transformers movie was not all that it could be – yes it was a solid movie but a little disappointing.

Well Michael Bay is back for a third crack at the Transformer franchise with Dark Side of the Moon, which from this teaser trailer does look epic.

Shia LaBeof is back as Sam but, as has been widely reported, Megan Fox will not be returning and she is replaced by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Josh Duhamel and John Turturro is back and he is joined on the cast list by John Malkovich and Patrick Dempsey.

So here is the first look at the movie, which will be in 3D when it hits the big screen next summer.

Ebony Road Trailer

Maia Krall Fry is very much a name that we should all be looking out for later this year when her new movie Ebony Road is released next year, it’s also a script that she penned.

Ebony Road is a drama and unique thriller full of twists set in a contemporary society and city. Two young sisters, Emmie and Isobel Spurrier, struggle to live homeless on the streets of London.

Themed heavily in a train station, the gritty film develops when Emmie gets involved in prostitution after her younger sister befriends a mysterious man named Keith.

Emmie soon realises that her and Isobel’s safety is in jeopardy. When the characters fall in grave danger, the pressure is on Emmie to change her critical view of life to bring everyone back together.

On her journey Emmie changes dramatically and she learns to appreciate what little she has, as well as befriending and finding trust in Keith.

Take a look at the first trailer for the movie:

Tron: Legacy Stars Talk To FilmClub

The long-awaited return to the grid is nearly over, as TRON: Legacy speeds into UK cinemas later on this month, and Filmclub, the education charity and experts in film for young people, sent two junior reporters to brave the cold to interview the stars and director of the film at the UK premiere in London’s Leicester Square.

Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years.

Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

Archie, 11, and Nathan, 11, who are both Young Ambassadors for the nationwide charity, interviewed the film’s stars – acting legend Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart, The Big Lebowski, Tron) and Olivia Wilde (House), and director Jospeh Kosinski about what it was like to return to the cyber world first introduced to the pubic in the original 1980’s sci-fi classic Tron in which Jeff Bridges also starred, and what film fans can expect from the new high-tech 3D adventure.
