We Want Your Views On Jason Gardiner-Gate

The office has been buzzing with the latest developments in the Dancing On ice debacle this morning, as 2,200 people complained over judge Jason Gardiner’s vicious attack on Karen Barber.

In case you missed the show on Sunday night, we’ve included a video of the incident so that you can get the full picture, but basically what happens is Jason implies that Karen has been ‘demoted’ from judge to head coach and doesn’t have the right to an opinion.

So readers, what do you think of it all? Has Jason taken his ‘Mr Nasty’ quest too far this time, or was it just a case of two telly stars making absolute fools out of themselves in from of the nation?

Jason has said he’s understand if show bosses did sack him, saying: “They’re talking about it. I don’t know what they will do. I can’t do anything about it. If I’m honest, I’m always surprised I get invited back every year.”

Jason, who is The Sun’s TV Biz’s DoI columnist, added; “I felt I overstepped the mark. It was personal and I wasn’t proud of it. I thought, ‘Be a man and apologise’. I honestly wanted to apologise to Karen. I’ve known her for six years. Even though it’s been a tempestuous time, I don’t wish her any harm.”

    Comments like Jasons on Sunday night should not be tolerated. He doesnt think and often akes offensive and personal comments, this time he overstepped the mark and YES HE SHOULD BE AXED !!

    I cannot believe that that snivelling idiot jason gardiner was even allowed to continue on to the skate off part of the show. Decency is at an all time low when people can address anyone in this manner. Karen Barber is a talented skater and is better to give an informed opinion of someones skating than that self obsessed idiot. I will be insensed if he is not sacked.

      Jason is only there to provide the snide spiteful opinion that gets us worked up. He may know dance but his knowledge of his discipline is poor compared to Karen of hers. She’s competed and taught at the highest level, unfortunately viewers brought up on sensation want Jasons style of critique. Jason will stay, and Dancing on Ice will resort to more tacky ideas to make the programme unmissable (like the awful “icepick” ),It was genuinly moving to see faces we knew tackle a discipline that was extremely difficult, and overcome them. That was enough. It started when everyweek at least 4 contestants would have fallen hard and may not continue, or havn’t managed to pull off a maneouver in practice. Now its becoming just another car crash like X factor and Brits got Talent. Its what we want and we get what we deserve

    Jason should get on the ice himself and for all the contestants to judge his performance maybe he will get the message then that he is rude and quite often offensive, because after all the show is meant to entertain and not taken so serious

    I don’t think he should be sacked but slapped very hard, who the hell does he think he is?Karen was an olympic skater on ice he is just a dancer and a very rude man there is enough ex skaters around to jude so get rid of Emma Bunton and Jason he could always sweep the ice afterwards I suppose!!

    Jason Gardiner comments were spot on.

    All these no-hopers who are attacking him, for only saying what most normal people think, are just out to cause trouble.

    Personally – I’m sick and tired of these PC “I’m deeply offended brigade”. If I had my way I’d prevent these morons breeding. They’re a total waste of space.

      People arn’t offended about his comments about the contestant. They’re upset at his comment to Karen Barber that her opinion was worthless otherwise she’d still be on the panel. Ice dancing is difficult to judge for the layman as it is so exacting. Along with Robin, Karen is the only person you see on the show who is qualified to comment. Jason wouldnt know a Lemon from a teapot, let alone a Salchow from a Mohawk . I know some successful Football managers never played at the highest level but Jason and Emma’s ability to judge should be confined to the colour of the frocks !

    Jason Gardiner is a bully, is he also bullying Karen off screen. Maybe ITV should investigate and find out what’s going on. It came across as personal and was embarrassing to look at.

    Go back to the very beginning and ask why tv producers think they MUST have a Mr Nasty element to everything. Producers have all lost the ability (or the will) to give us as entertaining, family Sunday evening viewing. In championships professional skaters perform and are then judged by those qualified to do so. We should have expected no less when DOI was first commissioned. Jason IS unqualified and insufferable and he should be grovelling to Karen who is a competent, experienced skater. And WHY must he wear a hat indoors. Don’t give me this ‘fashion statement’ rubbish. It’s a hat. Take it off in the presence of ladies you ill-mannered moron. Phillip Schoffield should also take care nailing his colours to the mast the way he has and dismissing the ‘spat’ as inconsequential. Some viewers still have standards and are right to expect them in others.

    Jason should be fired. This is not the first time his vicious tongue has unleashed and caused great offence. Not the first time he’s been forced to give an unsincere apology after an OTT vicious remark. His nasty comments ruin what is a very enjoyable show. What seems to be forgotten also, this is a family show. What a lovely example to children JG is!!!
    Get rid of him and make the panel ice-skaters so they know what they are talking about and make DOI a real joy to watch.

    Jason did nothing wrong. Karen is such a cry baby. Steve Allen LBC 97.3 is defending Jason to the hilt and that should be good enough for all Jason’s critics!
