BB cream review

I love new beauty products, I would gladly be a guinea pig and test out the latest stuff – they can be life changing. And I don’t mean that in some, overly-dramatic sense, but quite literally life changing.

I’m here now to review the latest craze, the BB cream. I know I’m a couple of weeks late to jump on the bandwagon, but I’ve only just been sent my freebies through the post.

I never normally apply for stuff over the internet, but when it comes to foundation/tinted moisturiser and now BB Cream, I am quite particular – in fact, I’ve used the same foundation since I was 18, I’m now 21 and I still to this day get compliments of how fresh and flawless my skin looks, thank you MAC Studio Sculpt.

So, whilst I would love to say that I can leave the house with little coverage, I am sadly not one of those girls but putting on make-up is never a chore for me, I actually love to do it. I was reluctant to buy a bottle of BB cream, because I’d convinced myself that I wouldn’t like it because it’s too sheer.

Well, I don’t think I could have been more wrong. This cream provides as much coverage as my foundation and has quickly made it’s way to the top of my must-buy list.

When I was sent them, they only had the light option available, again I was apprehensive that this wouldn’t be right for my skin, but to my surprise, it’s nearly the same colour as my foundation.

Ta ta for now MAC Studio Sculpt. Well at least during the week, I’m still using it at the weekends when I go out.

I apply the cream with my fingers, so it doesn’t just sit on top of my skin and it instantly look brighter, however, it does look a little greasy. I just apply MAC translucent powder to stop the shine on my T-Zone, it works like a charm.

I do use some concealer over the top, for those pesky little spots that like to creep up. Other than that, I will be sticking with BB cream, it feels so much lighter on my skin than foundation and is a fraction of the cost. It’s win, win really.

Have you tried it yet? What did you think?

Teenagers get the opportunity to work in Fashion…

In recent years, controversy has shrouded the image of teenagers working in fashion.

The idea of children as young as 12 and 13 working on high end fashion campaigns wearing pieces and often underwear meant for fully grown women, is not without it’s queries.

But while commentators, designers and the general public debate what terrible message this is sending to other ‘ordinary’ girls, with words including ‘sexualisation’ as their focal point, a ray of hope and reality is being beamed from an unlikely source.

George for ASDA has recently found four forward thinking fashionistas to help them design their newest tween collection for the supermarket chain.

Did I mention said fashionistas are only young teens themselves?

Personally, I think that this is a brilliant way to include younger generations in the dynamic, creative, not to mention competitive fashion industry. Not only does it go a long way to offer invaluable experience to the girls who won their ‘Style Scout’ contest, but the designing team learnt a thing or two about what their intended market and age demographic would like to see from fashion.

It would be unfair to suggest that ‘girls as young as 14 don’t know what they’re doing’ as I’ve read on numerous occasion since sparks flew over recent fashion campaigns seeing Hailee Steinfeld and Elle Fanning strike their pose in ‘mature’ outfits for Miu Miu and Marc Jacobs respectively, in which both look beautiful, professional and more importantly, their age.

And while you may not agree with the image that it portrays, ASDA have gone a long way to show that teenagers can also send out a positive and helpful message to their own age group.

One of the main differences between these examples is the clothes that the girls were modelling (the ASDA girls also helped model the range they had helped design).

But I have to ask, is it the clothing causing the hysteria or the pose in which it is being illustrated?

Because they are two entirely different issues…

Shame UK Trailer

Michael Fassbender is one of my fave actors at the moment and he has had a super successful year with the likes of Jane Eyre and X-Men: First Class already under his belt.

In the new year he is set to reunite with Steve McQueen for Shame – a movie that has already caused a stir on the festival circuit and is surrounded in Oscar talk.

Fassbender central performance saw him pick up the Best Actor award at the Venice Film Festival – could he be the name that were all talking about during the awards season?

Brandon (Fassbender) is a 30-something man living in New York who is unable to manage his sex life.

After his wayward younger sister (Mulligan) moves into his apartment, Brandon’s world spirals out of control.

Carey Mulligan and James Badge Dale join Fassbender on the cast list on what is set to be one of the early must see movies of 2012.

Shame is released 13th January. Take a look at the UK trailer for the movie:

Welcome to the world of Breakfast TV, with chirpy presenters who wake us up with their positive attitudes and happy dispositions – but something sinister is afoot – there is a killer on the loose, The Breakfast Cereal Killer and few are safe!

Cliff and Dawn are the early morning TV presenters on the nation’s favourite breakfast show – The Crack of Dawn. Danny Nichols is the hapless day dreaming studio runner who longs to be a presenter and sit alongside the woman of his dreams…Dawn.

Sadly Cliff is leaving and the new host is a safely guarded secret – that is until the short list slowly becomes the dead list. Keith Chegwin, Tony Blackburn, Joe Pasquale and Russell Grant are up for the dream job – but who will live long enough to accept it?

Working out his next deadly step, in a damp dark and bloodstained cellar is a mysterious stranger with a shrine to the TV presenters and a selection of torture toys awaiting them. The killer is on an evil crusade knocking off celebrities with a menagerie of macabre murders, always leaving a calling card stapled to the foreheads of his victims.
