Beginners charmed critics and film fans when it was released in cinemas earlier this year – and now the DVD is just around the corner.

The movie sees Mike Mills return to the director’s chair and he has assembled an impressive cast that includes Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer, Melanie Laurent and Goran Visnjic.

Beginners imaginatively explores the hilarity, confusion, and surprises of love through the evolving consciousness of Oliver (McGregor).

Oliver meets the irreverent and unpredictable Anna (Laurent) only months after his father Hal (Plummer) has passed away.

Throughout the film Oliver shares his woes with Arthur, the Jack Russell terrier he inherited from his dad with the dog’s contributions to their ‘dialogue’ appearing as subtitles.

The new love Oliver finds with Anna floods him with memories of his father who, following 44 years of marriage, came out of the closet at age 75 to live a full, energized, and wonderfully tumultuous gay life.

The upheavals of Hal’s new honesty brought father and son closer than they ever had been and ever imagined possible.

Now Oliver endeavours to love Anna with all the bravery, humour, and hope that his father taught him.

Beginners is released on DVD & Blu-Ray next month.
