Marco Simoncelli

Marco Simoncelli the was the most exciting thing to happen to motorcycle racing since Valentino Rossi and eventual successor to his crown.

That sums up the guy, fearless on the track never intimidated by the reputation of others a born competitor and a born winner.

Yet here we are talking about the demise of a wonderful person and a talent lost to a sport that will be all the poorer for his absence.

It has taken me until today to really put these feelings and thoughts together my personal recollections about Marco Simoncelli.

I had the honour to meet Marco in the pit lane of Silverstone while on my way to talk to another MotoGP hero Nicky Hayden, and although my meeting was quick and fleeting you could not miss the aura the surrounded the man.

As he headed to his trailer followed by a crowd of ‘afro’ wig wearing fans it struck me as to how connected to his fans he was and the mutual appreciation between them..

His last moments of life were lap and a half of pure competitive racing, jousting with Alvaro Bautista, with skill panache, giving no quarter. Riding at the edge, the way he always did, relishing his one sporting passion that of adrenalin filled motorcycle racing.

Then that fateful tragedy on turn eleven when Marco lost control of his bike veering across and into Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi with the resulting collision ending the life of the Italian.

Long time friend and mentor Valentino Rossi could not bring himself to talk to the media, he later took to his Twitter account and simply said: “Sic for me was like a youngest brother. So strong on track and so sweet in the normal life. I will miss him a lot.”

Marco Simoncelli will return home to Coriano, were the funeral will take place Thursday, October 27 at 3:00pm in the church of Santa Maria di Coriano. The Italian will be buried in the cemetery of this town, near Riccione, where he was born 24 short years ago.

Breast Cancer Awareness month – help to raise money

Breast Cancer Awareness month is drawing to a close, but this doesn’t mean that we have to stop our support in helping to raise awareness and money for charity.

Curves, the ladies-only nationwide gym, are encouraging their members and the British public to donate their old bras to raise as much needed funds for Breast Cancer Care. All bras will be collected in specially provided pink bra bins in Curves clubs nationwide.

This one-of-a-kind initiative allows women across the UK to help both sufferers of breast cancer and women in third world countries where bras are seen as a luxury by the majority of women and increasingly hard to come by.

For every 1kg of bras women donate (1kg = approx 17 bras), £1 will be donated to Breast Cancer Care, which will go to help fund vital breast cancer research, support for sufferers and survivors.

Sweatshop are also running a similar initiative. They’ve teamed up with leaders in Breast Health, Portsmouth University to create a bespoke and unrivalled sports bra fitting service.

This fitting service is part of a wider campaign to educate women about the importance of wearing a well fitted sports bra to help prevent sag, as no matter how good your sports bra, if it doesn’t fit properly then it won’t offer the appropriate support. With so many different styles of bra on the market, Sweatshop understands how this can be very confusing so their experienced and expert staff are on hand to find the right sports bra for you.

No matter what your size, wearing a well fitted sports bra can eliminate sport-related breast pain; help prevent sag and droopy breasts; enhance running style and performance and eliminate the bounce, and embarrassment.

Sweatshop are asking customers to bring unwanted bras to their nearest store and deposit them into the ‘bra bin’ for recycling. In return customers will receive £5 off of a new sports bra and Sweatshop will donate £1 to the Microloan Foundation for every bra sold during the campaign.

Keira Knightley mixes monochrome with the 20′s…

Keira Knightley is an English Rose.

She’s appeared in some of the biggest blockbusters of our generation and lent her fresh-faced beauty to more than one cosmetic & fragrance campaign over the years.

Hitting yet another red carpet premiere for new film A Dangerous Method, Knightley wore an effortlessly chic and stylish monochrome Roksanda Ilinic dress, proving she’s an industry pro both on and off-screen.

Knightley wore the stylish above-the-ankle dress, with wrap around, cutaway top half with peep toe black shoes and her hair in a simple sleek up-do.

It seems the Keira could not have ticked anymore style boxes if she tried.

The only question is: Was it too much?

I often find the answer to this question in fashion is: If you have to think about the answer, then no. If the look instantly screams out to you that there is too much happening, then there more than likely is – but not this time.

Keira’s look maybe monochrome, androgynous and 1920s all wrapped up into one, but it looks effortless and blends together perfectly. She has also balanced the look well well her lack of jewellery and statement smokey eyes, going for the ‘less is more’ when accessorising.

For me, this is a thumbs up from the 26-year-old, whose sense of style is evolving beautifully.

What’s your verdict?

In The Land of Blood and Honey Trailer

A whole host of actors have recently turned their hand to directing and Oscar winner Angelina Jolie is set to make her mark as a filmmaker with In The Land of Blood and Honey.

The movie is set to be one of the most highly anticipated directorial debuts – she also penned the script – and, having just watched the trailer for myself, it looks se to be a very powerful war drama.

Zana Marjanovic & Goran Kostic who are lovers who are torn between each other and their countries.

Set during the Bosnian War Danijel and Ajla are on opposite sides of an ethnic conflict; Daniijel is fighting for the Serbs while Ajla is a Bosnian being held captive.

Despite knowing each other before the war their love is put on hold by war.

New The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Poster

The release of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is creeping ever closer and it is a movie that I really am looking forward.

I normally am not a fan of American remakes but this time around David Fincher looks to have delivered a very dark and interesting movie.

Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara have team up as Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander while Stellan Skarsgard, Robin Wright and Christopher Plummer are also on the cast list.

Journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Craig) is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing for forty years by Lisbeth Salander (Mara), a young computer hacker.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo looks set to be one of the must see movies this Christmas and will be different to everything else that graces the big screen this festive period.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is released 26th December.
