New Image From The Hobbit

Now I am going to stick my neck out on the line here and predict that The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be the biggest grossing movie of 2012 – LOL!!

Rather obvious I know but I am super excited for the latest trip to Middle Earth and the return of Peter Jackson to the director’s chair.

And there if that is not exciting enough then we have a new image for you to feast your eyes on:

Sadly however we are going to have to wait until December to finally see the first instalment of the story.

Excitement over the movie will have reached fever pitch by this point but I can’t wait to see Martin Freeman take on the role of Bilbo Baggins!!

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is released 14th December.

Big Miracle Trailer

Draw Barrymore is set to return to the big screen next month with her latest movie Big Miracle.

The film is based on the inspiring true story that captured the hearts of people across the world as Greenpeace faced a race against time to save a family of whales.

And we have the latest trailer from Big Miracle for you to have a look at here:

Big Miracle tells the amazing tale of a small town news reporter (John Krasinski) and a Greenpeace volunteer (Drew Barrymore) who are joined by rival world superpowers to save a family of majestic gray whales trapped by rapidly forming ice in the Arctic Circle.

Local newsman Adam Carlson (Krasinski) can’t wait to escape the northern tip of Alaska for a bigger market. But just when the story of his career breaks, the world comes chasing it, too.

With an oil tycoon, heads of state and hungry journalists descending upon the frigid outpost, the one who worries Adam the most is Rachel Kramer (Barrymore). Not only is she an outspoken environmentalist, she’s also his ex-girlfriend.

With time running out, Rachel and Adam must rally an unlikely coalition of Inuit natives, oil companies and Russian and American military to set aside their differences and free the whales.

As the world’s attention turns to the top of the globe, saving these endangered animals becomes a shared cause for nations entrenched against one another and leads to a momentary thaw in the Cold War.

Big Miracle is released 10th February

We spend six years doing the chores

The average Briton will spend six year of their adult life cleaning, ironing and trying to get on top of the rest of the household chores, according to a new report.

And if that sounds crazy, a quarter of the population will go further and spend a full decade keeping their house in order. Researchers also discovered that people ironed a bizarre range of items including socks, male underpants, swimwear and someone’s hair.

The new study, by dry cleaning expert Johnsons Cleaners, discovered that we spend an average of two hours and 17 minutes on chores every day. But one in four Brits are more obsessed and spend up to four hours daily cleaning round the house.

Researchers also found that women still do the majority of the household chores. In six out of ten homes the female of the house is responsible for tasks such as the laundry, hoovering and dishwashing.

In a quarter of homes the duties are shared evenly among men and women, and males do the majority of chores in just 15 per cent of British homes.

The survey of 2,848 people across the UK also revealed the chores we hate to do the most are the ironing followed by mopping the floor.

And if the average Briton had the money to employ staff around the house we would pay for a cleaner first, followed by a gardener to keep our bushes trimmed and lawn neat, and then an in-house ironing service.

Paul Ogle, MD Johnsons Cleaners, who commissioned the survey, said: “Let’s be honest, nobody likes to do chores around the house and our study is a stark reminder of just how much time we spend keeping our homes ship shape.

“It is incredible to discover that many people will spend a full decade doing all the mundane but necessary jobs about the house, including the ironing, laundry and general cleaning.

A new contraceptive for men?

It’s definitely one of the more extreme methods of contracepetion, but scientists suggest that in the future, blasting a man’s sensitive area with high frequency sound waves may be the ideal form of contraception.

Just try and get them in the chair first.

They found that 15 minutes of ultrasound on rats reduced their sperm count to levels that would mean infertility in men.

But researchers say they do not yet know how long the ultrasound would work nor whether it is safe to be repeated.

Study leader Dr James Tsuruta. from the University of North Carolina, said: “Unlike humans, rats remain fertile even with extremely low sperm counts.

“However, our non-invasice ultrasound treatment reduced sperm reserves in rats far below levels normally seen in fertile men.

“Further studies are required to determine how long the contraceptive effective lasts and if it is safe to use multiple times.”

A cheap, effective non-invasive male contraceptive has been a goal of scientists.

Latest The Hunger Games Images

The release of The Hunger Games is now just over a month away and it promises to be one of the most successful movies of early 2012.

Now I have to admit I am not familiar with the novels but the movie looks an intriguing one – and it will be great to see Jennifer Lawrence in this type of role.

And with the film release just around the corner we have a couple more new images for you to take a look at.

In a not-too-distant future, the United States of America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war, to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 12 districts.

Each year, two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts, the televised games are broadcasted throughout Panem as the 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch.

When 16-year-old Katniss’ young sister, Prim, is selected as the mining district’s female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place.

She and her male counterpart, Peeta, the son of the town baker who seems to have all the fighting skills of a lump of bread dough, will be pitted against bigger, stronger representatives who have trained for this their whole lives.

The Hunger Games is released 23rd March

New Chronicle Clips

Chronicle looks set to be one of the most exciting movies of early 2012 as Josh Trank makes his feature film debut.

The movie follows three high school students make an incredible discovery, leading to their developing uncanny powers beyond their understanding.

As they learn to control their abilities and use them to their advantage, their lives start to spin out of control, and their darker sides begin to take over.

Dane Dehaan, Alex Russell, Michael b. Jordan, Michael Kelly make up the cast list of this rather intriguing film.

Max Landis has been on hand to pen the screenplay in what is his first movies screenplay after working in shorts and TV.

Chronicle is released 1sy February

Channing Tatum Introduces The Vow Trailer

Now we all love a bit of Channing Tatum and he is appearing in just about everything at the moment.

He may have shown off his action side in Haywire but now he is back in the romantic drama The Vow – which looks set to be a real weepy.

The new movie sees him team up with Rachel McAdams, who is no stranger to this genre, and the actor introduces the new trailer to the movie:

The Vow is based on the true story of a newlywed couple recovering from an accident that puts the wife in a coma.

She wakes up with severe memory loss and can’t remember any of her life with her new husband – so he has to fight to win her heart all over again.

The Vow is released 10th February.

Carnage Clips

One of the movie that I have been looking forward to this year is Carnage – the new movie from Roman Polanski.

When you see a cast list that includes Kate Winslet, Jodie Foster, Christoph Waltz and John C Reilly – exciting to see three Oscar winners together in the same movie.

The movie follows a showdown between two kids about eleven, in a local playground.

Swollen lips, broken teeth… Now the parents of the ‘victim’ have invited the parents of the ‘bully’ to their apartment to sort it out.

Cordial banter gradually develops a razor-sharp edge as all four parents reveal their laughable contradictions and grotesque prejudices.

None of them will escape the ensuing carnage.

Carnage is released 3rd February

Bel Ami Images

Now I will admit that I am not a fan of Twilight Series but I like to see Robert Pattinson in new projects.

And later this year he will be tackling a new movie in the form of Bel Ami.

The movie sees Pattinson team up with Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Ricci as Declan Donnellan and Nick Omerod make their feature debut.

Bel Ami chronicles the rise of penniless ex-soldier Georges Duroy (Pattinson) through the echelons of the 1890s Parisian elite and is a tale of ambition, power and seduction.

Bel Ami is released 9th March and we have a couple of new images from the movie:
