John Carter looks set to be the first big blockbuster of 2012 and the title role could just well make Taylor Kitsch a household name.
This year promises to be a busy one for the actor with Battleship & Savages on the way later this year.
John Carter is the first movie outing for the actor since The Bang Bang Club and it is set to be the biggest role of his career so far.

The movie marks the live action directorial debut of Andrew Stanton, who already has a couple of Oscars under his belt for Finding Nemo and Wall-E.
The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins).
In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands
