Aiden Grimshaw – Is This Love Video

Aiden Grimshaw’s debut single ‘Is This Love’ will be released on RCA on June 3rd. Written by Aiden, ‘Is This Love’ is taken from his debut album ‘Misty Eye’ which will be released on August 13th. The album contains all original material, co-written by Aiden and was produced by Jarrad Rogers (Lana del Rey, Tinchy Stryder).

Aiden appeared as a finalist in The X Factor in 2010. His audition is one of the most watched on YouTube – a striking a cappella version of Kanye West’s Gold Digger.

And this is the video for his new track:

Aiden said of the show: “I didn’t really know what I wanted from it. I love music, and I knew I could sing, but I didn’t think I was X Factor material.

“I’d been given this opportunity and I didn’t want to waste it. But I had no idea what sort of music was really me. Everyone else had their own ideas, but all I knew was what I didn’t want.”

Following his appearance on the show, Aiden, who is 20 years old, moved from his hometown of Blackpool to London and set up a home studio where he spent two years writing and recording demos with various writers and producers.

He found musical soul mate Jarrad Rogers (Lana del Rey, Tinchy Stryder), and the resulting songs make up his debut album.

‘Is This Love’ is an extraordinary, soaring pop anthem exploding with grinding drum & bass beats, and offers a taste of the light and shade, which Aiden explores in ‘Misty Eye’.

Jay James Picton – Acoustic Session

Five years ago Welsh born Jay James Picton had never sung or played a note in his life. Today, Booker T Jones, Roger Daltrey, Hal David and John Legend are among admirers of his unique soul voice – a voice he discovered entirely by accident.

Jay discovered his voice – albeit by chance. His song-writing emerged soon after, as a long term relationship began to fall apart.

Now, with a clear knack for translating his hard-hitting, fiery heart into song, the result is Play It By Heart, the debut album by a rare and raw talent.

Jay James’s startling vocal range and power conjures up ghosts of soul legends like Donny Hathaway, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye and Al Green as he puts his heart and – yes – soul into a series of self-penned songs that chart the ups and downs of a turbulent relationship and celebrate the start of a new one.

Play It By Heart – due out in 2012 – was recorded between Brooklyn (NYC) and LA with a stellar group of session musicians from the hip hop & soul scenes, co-produced by Jay James, Mike Peden and Malay.

The album features guest appearances by two greats from different ends of the soul spectrum. Soul veteran Booker T. Jones co-wrote, plays and sings on Heads vs Hearts, and current star John Legend plays piano on Oh There She Goes.

The studio band includes Legendary Roots Crew players James Poyser, Jef Lee Johnson (Prince) and Raymond Angry, bass player Jack Daley (Lenny Kravitz, Beyonce, Jay-Z), drummer Stephen Wolf (Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Katy Perry) and veterans Clifford Carter (James Taylor, Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin).

In a musical era of Brit School graduates and X Factor contestants, self-taught, self-trained Jay James Picton is that rarest of discoveries – he’s the real thing.

Harry Styles and His New Car

Okay, firstly, I just need to say that ever since they first came out I’ve wanted an Audi R8. It has been my dream car.

In my eyes, nothing else can compare to it, and I have vowed that no matter how old I am, when I have saved enough money I shall buy one.

So you can imagine my dismay when I heard that 18-year-old Harry Styles has only gone and bought himself one.

Don’t get me wrong, if he can afford one then why the hell not buy it, I would, but it just disheartens me that an 18-year-old can afford a car that I’ll only be buying when I’m 80.

So, Harry, help the needy and donate your car to those less privileged than yourself: me.

Expendables 2 Character Banners

The Expendables are set to explode back onto the big screen later this summer as Sylvester Stallone and co are back with a new mission.

This time around Stallone is not in the director’s chair, instead that task has fallen to Simon West, but Stallone has had a hand in the script.

Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) — with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard — are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job.

The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them.

Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time — six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world.

But that’s nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way…

The Expendables 2 is released August.

More Lawless Images

The first trailer for Lawless was released last week, and if you haven’t seen if you should check it out as this movie looks like one not to miss this summer.

And we have more treats for you today as we have some new pics from the movie for you to cast your eye over.

Lawless is a big screen adaptation of The Wettest County in the World by Matt Bondurant, which has been adapted by Nick Cave.

The movie marks the return of Tom Hardy as he reunites with Gary Oldman once again after Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and The Dark Knight Rises.

The movie also stars Shia LaBeouf, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Guy Pearce.

Set in the 1920s prohibition-era America, Lawless is the true story of the Bondurant brothers.  Brazen and fearless, these young rural bootleggers became legendary criminals.

The youngest brother, Jack (LaBeouf) is ambitious and impulsive, the middle brother, Howard (Jason Clarke), is loyal but reckless and eldest brother, Forrest (Hardy), leads the family with a silent determination.

As the Bondurants’ illicit business and legend grows, so too looms the danger of bigger fish, and it’s not long before the brothers must face the consequences.

Lawless is released 31st August.

William and Kate’s One-Year Anniversary

It’s nearly one year since William and Kate engaged in a blissful wedding ceremony at Westminster Abbey, where the entire nation watched in awe as Kate Middleton married her Prince Charming.

We’re still in love with the dream Royal couple and have watched over the past year as they have stepped out together representing our country.

She’s the down the earth Duchess who dresses impeccably and he’s the honourable Prince, so I’d like to take a moment to thank Wills and Kate for being the superb Royal couple that they are and wish them the best for years to come.

Congrats to Wills and Kate!

Snow White And The Huntsman Featurette

If the superhero movie genre doesn’t tickle your fancy this summer then perhaps the retelling of a classic fairy story will.

Gone are the singing dwarves and the animals that can do the washing up as Snow White and the Huntsman is a darker take on the story then we have ever seen before.

Charlize Theron stars as the evil Queen Ravenna in the movie and this latest video take you behind the scenes and into her throne room:

Kristen Stewart will take on the role of Snow White while Chris Hemsworth, who is having a busy summer, will play the huntsman..

Snow White is the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen – and the queen is not out to destroy her.

But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) who was dispatched to kill her.

Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.

Snow White and the Huntsman is released 1st June

The Dark Knight Rises Promo Art

There are only a handful of weeks to go now before we finally get to see The Dark Knight Rises, director Christopher Nolan’s third and final Batman movie.

I have to admit it is THE movie that I am looking forward to this summer and it promises to be one of the biggest grossing of 2012.

Unfortunately we are going to have to wait a little longer before it is released – however I do have some promo art from the movie for you to take a look at.

None of these shots are from the film itself but boy they do look stunning:

The movie is set eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, the terrorist leader Bane arrives in Gotham City, pushing it and its police force to their limits, forcing its former hero Batman to resurface after taking the fall for Harvey Dent’s crimes.

The Dark Knight Rises is released 20th July

Django Unchained First Pics

Quentin Tarantino has not put his ass in a director’s chair since the HUGE success of Inglourious Basterds back in 2009, a movie that went on to be Oscar nominated.

But all that is about to change as his new movie project Django Unchained is on the horizon – it is being filmed as we speak.

And we have the first couple of images from the movie for you to take a look at:

As you may imagine a Tarantino project brings together a great cast – and this is one of the best that he has ever assembled.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington and Sacha Baron Cohen are all set to star.

Set in the South two years before the Civil War, Django Unchained stars Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Waltz).

Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles… dead or alive.

Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.

Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (DiCaprio), the proprietor of ‘Candyland,’ an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport.

Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Samuel L. Jackson), Candie’s trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them.

If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival…

Django Unchained is released 18th January.

Octomom

Octomom, Nadya Suleman, has been in the news this week after child services were called on her due to beliefs that she was neglecting her 14 children.

When I first heard this story I felt quite sorry for her, looking after 14 kids must be tough and she constantly gets it in the neck for having 8 more children when she already had 6.

That isn’t what annoys me though, it’s happened and there is nothing she can do about it, what does annoy me (and what changed my opinion on this story) is that Nadya is allegedly spending $520 on her haircuts when she’s admitted that she is often short of money and swears by food coupons.

I’m all for people having big families if they can provide for them but when they rely on benefits to feed their kids, it’s a different story.

So listen up Nadya, next time you think you need a trim, grab the kitchen scissors instead and use the money saved to wash, dress and feed your kids, by the looks of the pictures, they need it.
