Anna Karenina Trailer

Joe Wright has made quite a splash with his first four movie projects Pride and Prejudice, Atonement, The Soloist and Hanna and now he is back.

Anna Karenina is one of the post-summer movies that I am most looking forward to as Wright brings the famous story by Leo Tolstoy to the big screen.

The movie reunites him with leading lady Keira Knightley for the first time since Atonement as she takes on the title role and leads an all star cast.

And we have the first trailer for the movie for you to take a look at:

The story unfolds in its original late-19th-century Russia high-society setting and powerfully explores the capacity for love that surges through the human heart, from the passion between adulterers to the bond between a mother and her children.

As Anna questions her happiness, change comes to her family, friends, and community.

Jude Law, Aaron Johnson, Matthew Macfadyen, Kelly Macdonald and Emily Watson are all on the cast list of a movie that is not to be missed.

Anna Karenina is released 7th September.

Monsters University First Teaser Trailer

Monsters Inc is my favourite Pixar movie of all time so you can imagine my delight at the announcement of prequel Monster University.

Yes Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are back and so are Billy Crystal and John Goodman on voicing duties.

But don’t get too excited Pixar fans as we will have to wait twelve months before we get to see the movie as summer 2013 is when it is set to be released.

But if, like me, you will struggle to wait that long here is the first teaser trailer for the movie:

Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other.

‘Monsters University’ unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.

Frankenweenie Character Images

I am a HUGE fan of Tim Burton and he is set to return to stop motion animation with his new movie Frankenweenie.

Now we are going to have to wait until October to check out this black and white 3D movie but it does promise to be one of the animation movie events of 2012.

Burton favourites Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara are back to lend their voices to the movie while Martin Short and Martin Landau are also on the cast list.

And we have some new character images for you to take a look at. Meet Bob, Bob’s Mum, Elsa Van Helsing, Mr & Mrs Frankenstein, Persephone, Sparky, Toshiaki and Victor.

Frankenweenie is a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life – with just a few minor adjustments.

He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new ‘leash on life’ can be monstrous.

Frankenweenie is released 17th October.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Clip

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunters blasted into cinemas earlier this week and marks the biggest role of actor Benjamin Walker’s career so far.

The actor takes on the title role in the Timur Bekmambetov directed movie and this is Abraham Lincoln like we have never seen him before.

So if you are not going to see the movie before the weekend we have a new clip for you to check out:

When Abraham Lincoln’s mother is killed by a supernatural creature, it fuels his passion to avenge her death.

Statesmen by day, hunter by night, President Lincoln sets out to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is out now.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard

What did I tell you? Yesterday I said that Johnny Depp wouldn’t be a free agent for long and look what’s happened now, he and Amber Heard have apparently been spending rather a lot of time together on the set of his new film The Lone Ranger. Rumour is, he even bought her a horse so they could ride side by side (bleurgh). Now, we have to remember that it was obvious that as soon as he announced splitting from Vanessa there would be rumours flying left, right and centre about who he is or isn’t dating. So even though the hearts of women worldwide may have tiny little cracks appearing in them, do not fret just yet, you may still have a chance… if you happen to be tall, blonde, bisexual and named Amber Heard.

The Best News Ever For Women Worldwide

First of all, I would like to give my condolences to Johnny and Vanessa, as after 14 years together, they have officially announced their split. Although this is very tragic and must be heart-breaking for their families, women all around the world will be having ‘Johnny Depp Is Single’ parties as I type. Does it make him more attractive now that he his single? Probably not, he couldn’t really get any more attractive (I even had a soft spot for him as Barnabas Collins, and you’re lying if you say you didn’t). Either way, every woman’s day got a little better when they heard this news, and didn’t feel so bad about it because rumours of the split have been flying round for months. However, a man such as Johnny Depp doesn’t stay single for long, so who will be the first in line? Start forming an orderly queue ladies.

The Campaign Posters

Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis are back on the big screen in September as they team up for a new comedy movie The Campaign.

Directed by Jay Roach the movie follows Cam Brady and Marty Higgins as they campaign to win the votes of the residents of North Carolina.

The movie has an all star support cast as Jason Sudeikis, Katherine LaNasa, Dylan McDermott, John Lithgow, Dan Aykroyd and Brian Cox are all on board.

Take a look at the two new posters for the movie:

When long-term congressman Cam Brady (Will Ferrell) commits a major public gaffe before an upcoming election, a pair of ultra-wealthy CEOs plot to put up a rival candidate and gain influence over their North Carolina district.

Their man: naive Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis), director of the local Tourism Center.

At first, Marty appears to be the unlikeliest possible choice but, with the help of his new benefactors’ support, a cutthroat campaign manager and his family’s political connections, he soon becomes a contender who gives the charismatic Cam plenty to worry about.

The Campaign is released 28th September.

Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World Images

Steve Carell teams up with Oscar nominee Keira Knightley for the first time this summer as they star in Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World.

The movie is the feature film directorial debut for Lorene Scafaria, who also penned the script, in a movie that looks set to be a welcome break from all the big budget blockbusters and superhero movie that will be gracing the big screen over the next few weeks.

And we have some new images from the movie for you to take a look at:

A 70-mile-wide asteroid is en route to Earth, and the last best attempt to counter it has failed. Also failing is the marriage of soft-spoken insurance salesman Dodge (Golden Globe Award winner Steve Carell); the breaking news that the world will end in an estimated 21 days cues his wife to leave him on the spot.

Dodge is a man who has always played by the rules of life, while his neighbor Penny (Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley) is an extroverted woman who hasn’t. From these opposite perspectives, both initially choose to navigate the impending end of the world with blinders on.

Dodge declines joining his friends in increasingly reckless behavior, while Penny fixates on her relationship issues with a self-absorbed musician.

The two misfits meet first when Penny has a rough night and then again when she belatedly delivers Dodge a lost letter. That letter could alter Dodge’s future; it’s from his high-school sweetheart Olivia, the love of his life.

When a riot breaks out around their apartment building, Dodge realizes that he must seek Olivia out before it’s too late while Penny makes the decision to spend her last days with family in England.

Seizing the moment, Dodge promises to help Penny reach her family if she will provide transport for the two of them in her car immediately. She agrees, and they escape.

On the road together, the unlikely travelling companions’ respective personal journeys accelerate, and their outlooks – if not the world’s – brighten.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is released 13th July.

New The Expendables 2 Poster

The Expendables 2 promises to be one of the most action packed movies of summer 2012 as some of the greatest names in the genre once again come together to kick some ass.

Now I will happily admit that I was a fan of the 2010 film as it did exactly what you expected it to and Expendables 2 looks set to do the same.

Sylvester Stallone is back as Barney Ross and he is joined on the cast list once again by the likes of Jason Statham and Jet Li.

We only briefly saw Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger two years ago but second time around it looks like there will be much bigger roles for these action stars.

And Jean Claude Van Damme and Liam Hemsworth are just a couple of the new faces that are on the cast list this time around.

Take a look at the latest poster for the movie:

Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) — with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Nan Yu) aboard — are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job.

The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them.

Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time — six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world.

But that’s nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way….

The Expendables 2 is released 16th August

Rosie Joining the Cast of Mad Max

People say looks don’t get you everywhere, but in this case that statement is false. Somehow, someone somewhere was given permission to cast Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in the new Mad Max movie. Given her horrific performance in Transformers, I can only assume that it’s her looks that got her that part because it cannot have been based on her acting abilities, well, lack of. She’s supposedly playing one of the wives so her part should be relatively small (fingers crossed), come on though, how can you put her in the same film as Oscar winner Charlize Theron? Someone needs to be cut from that casting team pronto. Stick to the modelling Rosie, I don’t want any more films I’m excited about to become tainted with bad acting.
