My Hate/Love Relationship With Kanye

Every time he opens his mouth in public, the man appears like an idiot. His lyrics are egotistical and cruel. Kanye West seems to embody most of what I hate about hip-hop.

Needless to say, I absolutely adore the man.

The man just keeps moving, never standing still creatively. On track ‘New God Flow’ on his collaboration album Cold Summer, he claims that he’s ”fresher than all of my foes.” I’ll be damned if the man isn’t telling the truth.

From College Dropout to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, you’d barely believe it’s the same artist pulling the strings. Jesus Walks was all emotion, Lost In The World is all drumbeat, samples and cold magic.

Needless to say, a sixth solo album cannot come fast enough for me.

Seeking A Friend For The End of the World New Clip

Keira Knightley is back on the big screen this week as she teams up with Steve Carell for comedy/drama Seeking A Friend For The End of the World.

The comedy/drama is a genre that Knightley isn’t that familiar with has she hasn’t really worked on a comedy project since Bend It Like Beckham.

But this movie promises to he heartwarming, charming and funny and we have the latest clip from the movie to share with you.

The movie marks the big screen directorial debut for Lorene Scafaria and she has also penned the screenplay for the film.

Set in a too-near future, the movie explores what people will do when humanity’s last days are at hand.

As the respective journeys of Dodge (Carell) and Penny (Knightley) converge, the two spark to each other and their outlooks – if not the world’s – brighten.

Seeking A Friend For The End of the World is released 13th July.

The Gangster Squad International Trailer

Now I have to admit that I do like a gangster movie and one of the films in this genre that I am most looking forward to the most is Gangster Squad.

And if there is one thing that should get you excited about this movie then it is the eye-watering cast.

Josh Brolin leads that cast and he is joined by Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Giovanni Ribisi, Anthony Mackie, Nick Nolte and two time Oscar winner Sean Penn.

And here is the new international trailer – which does feature a tiny bit of new footage:

Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and, if he has his way, every wire bet placed west of Chicago.

And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control.

It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop – except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart.

Gangster Squad is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.

Gangster Squad is released 9th November.

Something To Help Distract You

This is becoming a habit of mine to be late isn’t it?

But, hopefully these amazing videos will make it up to you. We’ve all heard Call Me Maybe and Somebody That I Used To Know too many times right? Well, how about if one featured Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster and the other was transformed into a fan’s disgruntlement at George Lucas?

Behold the magnificence;

Hopefully that just goes a little bit towards brightening your day. Let me know what you think in the comments below, and I’ll be back here later. Promise this time. Crossing my heart and everything.
