How I’m An Everyday VIP

Ladies, you don’t need to be as skinny as Victoria Beckham or as rich as Paris Hilton to be a VIP these days… look at me, I’m a size 12 and my obsession with (high street) shopping and smelly candles means I can barely afford to pay the bills, but I still make sure I make myself feel like a VIP at least once a week.

I am quite lucky in that I work as a music journalist so get to meet and interview some of the people I look up to in life on a regular basis (as well as a few folk who would do well to take a look at their over inflated egos too!) and let’s face it, what would life be without music? Firstly I’d be out of a job, but secondly I wouldn’t get that warm fuzzy feeling I get when I sit down with a musician of any calibre and have a cup of tea and a biscuit or two whilst we have a good chat and put the world to rights.

It doesn’t take expensive dresses, red carpets and champagne to make me feel special, whilst it would be nice from time to time, there’s nothing like a brew, biscuit and good company to make me feel like the luckiest lady on the planet. Listen up all you comic book movie fans as more X-Menish goodness is coming your way. Ryan Reynolds is already talking about the villains that will appear in his spin off movie Deadpool and the actor is currently looking for a writer for the project.

We all know Victoria Beckham is regarded as one of the most beautiful women in the world, but can anyone actually remember those days in the 1990’s and Victoria Beckham singing? Probably not… it wasn’t pretty.

R&B star Brandy has agreed to pay the two children of the woman killed in her 2006 car crash a shed load of compensation… but the ex of the victim is still refusing a whopping $1.2 million settlement.. well I imagine more money would help, ‘ease his suffering…’ right?

It’s fair to say that when you think British movies you tend to think of little prim costume dramas and Hugh Grant playing himself in every film he has ever been in , you known it’s true. But think horror and the UK film industry has brought some really brutal scenes to the big screen, however I don’t know why Hellraiser has made this list it’s blood rubbish.

It’s been a great day for Fearne Cotton not only did she look stunning on the red carpet for the Glamour Women of the Year Awards last night but she’s also been named Best Dressed Woman in the Clothes Show Style Awards. Not bad for a day’s work!

Ruth’s Wednesday Waffle

Because so many of you agreed with my idea to get David Archuleta to release Apologize as a single, we’ve made a very official-looking petition for you all to sign… come on! get involved so I can take it to his record label!

Ooh, we love a good pop feud, and it seems the latest one features larger than life Beth Ditto and girl kisser, Katy Perry… who ever thought being a lesbian and liking it would cause such a stir?

Peter Andre has so far kept a dignified silence over his split with Katie Price, but for the first time he has spoken out about his infidelity.

It would seem that Richard Dreyfuss is throwing his toys out of the pram and is now refusing to promote Jaws for the 30th anniversary and why? Because they won’t pay him any money for it. This movie made him a true global star just go out and promote this classic for crying out loud, you are hardly short of a bob or two!

There’s no doubt that the band that are set to make headlines for themselves this summer is the awesome Carolina Liar from Los Angeles. With their debut single, Show Me What I’m Looking for as our ‘Song Of The Week, I caught up with the extremely gorgeous frontman, Chad Wolf to talk about music, songs that make him cry, and 90210.

Ruth’s Tuesday Roasting

I always thought Eminem would be able to take a joke considering he is always having a pop at his fellow celebs… but after Sacha Baron Cohen landed on his face at the MTV Movie Awards last night, he stormed out of the show!

Poor old Susan Boyle has found out what it’s like to be a celebrity the hard way, after finding herself hauled off to hospital under the Mental Health Act after losing out in the Britain’s Got Talent show on Saturday night.

I’ve also started my own campaign to get David Archuleta to release a cover of OneRepublic’s Apologize. After someone told me to check out a video of him singing it, I almost dropped off my chair with joy! Show your support for David here!

It seems Vivienne Westwood has finally lost the plot. The kooky designer failed to recall who Daisy Lowe was during a showbiz party this weekend despite hiring the model for her catwalk show at London Fashion Week in February. Daisy was even hailed as the designer’s new muse just a few months ago. Perhaps Dame Viv should lay off the free champagne in future!

Some of the most iconic moments in cinema history have not come from great acting performances, special effects of music but simply from the clothes that were worn. Over the years actresses like Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe have made outfits iconic in their own right.

Ruth Gives Monday A Whirl

Lady Gaga shocked us all with her cover shoot for Rolling Stone Magazine last week, and her cover for her latest single, Paparazzi is only slightly more demure. As she’s actually wearing clothes this time some people may be happy, but some, clearly won’t. personally I think Gaga looks better with clothes on, because that we, we have something to admire, as her outfits are always mind-blowing… whilst bubbles, are, well, not.

We love David Archuleta over here at FemaleFirst, and he just seems to keep getting better and better as he proves he’s not only an awesome singer and the cutest boy in town, but that he also has a generous and caring side.

Kate Moss really needs to make up her mind about her occupation. Supermodel/designer/writer/musician…the list is endless, and now she’s planning to launch a new vintage perfume; is there anything this woman won’t put her name to!?

It would seem Hollywood can’t get enough of the horror movies of the eighties as Halloween, in the for of H2, is getting another outing on the big screen.I don’t wish to be picky but surely there is a scriptwriter knocking about that come up with an original story rather that rehashing this rubbish? Err, hello, but is anyone else completely baffled as to why the hell Geri Halliwell reckons that Cheryl Cole’s booming career, as a TV star as well as a Girl Aloud, is all down to her? For all those that hate Alien and all the movies that followed it as I did, the original is such a disappointment, you will be delighted to hear that there’s another one in the pipeline. But Ridley Scott is doing just that, and he is contemplating a prequel, but with the original films and all the Alien vs Predator rubbish surely it’s time to call it a day?
