Tips and advice on cosmetics

Mani Monday

Pastel shades are still my favourite for the Spring season, when it rolls round to summer – hopefully – that’s when I favour the brighter shades.

This week’s simple nails were created with two varnishes, one from the Lasting Gel range from Collection. I used the nude shade last week. This time I chose the peachy colour.

Again these varnishes slide on and the colour lasts really well. I used this on my index finger alone.

Then, on the rest I used a beautiful Butter London sage green shade, with gold speckles.

This varnish is a real beauty. Definitely a nail varnish brand I’ll be going back to.

Mani Monday

A nude nail is perfect for a Monday-Friday work look, but it’s finding a nail varnish that will last that long too.

These Lasting Gel Colour varnishes from Collection are just the thing.

Nude gel nails
The colour glides on to nails and the high shine finish gives the impression of a gel nail.
I found these to last about four days before a chip, pretty amazing considering they’re on £3.19 a bottle.

Definitely a nail varnish brand to try!

Mani Monday

I was treated to a lovely Red Carpet Manicure at this past weekend’s High Street Fashion Week in London.

Mani Monday Red carpet manicure

The beautiful gel manicure is fairly similar to the Shellac style, but according to the nail technician the light is a lot more smaller and easier to carry around.

I opted for a bright yellow shade, as I’m still searching for the perfect yellow varnish (do you know of any?).

This particular one is fairly sheer, there was four coats applied to my nail. But with a beautiful shimmer it’s easy to forgive.

I expect this to be a nightmare to remove, but I’m definitely certain it’ll have been worth it. My nails feel super strong too.

You can buy the Red Carpet Manciure Gel Set for at home use too. It takes a few steps to get the nails perfected, but it’s worth the fuss for the end result.

Mani Monday

Mani Monday is made up this week of a bright magenta nail with a silver glitter ring finger.

Bright, bold and sparkly.

Mani monday pink and silver glitter

The pinky/purple varnish is a Nars nail colour from the Thakoon limited edition range (click on the image below to buy.)

The silver glitter is from Barry M. But it’s not all just silver, there are hints of blue green, gold and pink.

The pink is drawn out my the Nars varnish.

Mizz Glitzy beauty blog: Radiance creams

Hi Ladies ….

Well I know one thing this weather is doing nothing for my skin and I bet you are the same, I’ve been looking at different ranges to put the moisture back into our skin to give that radiant glow back and guess what I found the perfect creams…..

BB Stands for Beauty Balm and these can be used instead of moisturiser, also can be used for firming you skin as -well as giving a great base for your foundation. You can also use with a moisturiser, but be careful not to over load the skin as your foundation can slip, this will cause patches with your makeup, if you’re unclear what to use please tweet mizz_glitzy for some advice.

CC Stands for colour corrector to give the perfect base!

I discovered that L’Oreal has a wide range of products that covers most skin ranges at a reasonable price:

Anti-Redness- is amazing for red blotchy skin….or ladies that suffers with roseatia this will give you a perfect base that your foundation will give an amazing coverage

Anti Fatigue- This is for more mature skin to help fill in fine lines and wrinkles!

Anti Dullness- Ladies tired and dried out skin this is perfect for: Especially for them early mornings school runs….. For Mums still to look their best!

4/5

Garnier has a range out, also and again for different types of skin so you need to make sure that it’s suitable for you,

Oily skin: Ladies if you suffer with oily skin this is perfect and will really balance your oils out before applying your makeup, you will notice your foundation will last a lot longer!

Normal/dry skin: If you feel your skin is combination, then gives this a whirl to give yourself a great even base to work with!

Anti-Wrinkle: This is for ladies again with mature skin helps to prevent wrinkles…. Which we know ladies prevention is better than cure!

5/5

Maxfactor CC Foundation is amazing it has all the benefits as well as colour corrects, hydrates and protects it also has a spf 10 with a cooling extract. This amazing CC foundation comes in 3 shades so there is a shade for every lady, this CC foundation also has a light to medium coverage so you have it all in the one bottle lady’s

These three products are amazing and very affordable; well let me know what your thoughts are on the products and any question let me know xx

Mizz Glitzy beauty blog: Finding the perfect eyebrow shape

Hello Ladies,

I am going to focus on eyebrows and how important eyebrows are to your face and can completely change your look

face shapes

This is so important to make sure your eyebrows match your face shape, your eyebrows are such important character to your face, I would recommend you get them done professionally the first time… it’s much easier to keep it up yourself this way, by plucking the hair as they grow back.

After we have the perfect shape we then have to shade them in just to give a little more definition ……. After shading take an eyebrow brush and push the hairs up and along and to hold them in place use clear mascara or benefit highbrow!

Benefits Brow Zing is a powder and comes with wax and amazing definitely 5/5 simply just follow your eyebrow shape and you can’t go wrong…. And will last 6-12 months amazing!

Clinique Instant Lift for eyebrows this is a crayon I love this pencil as it isn’t too harsh for me and it does stay on also …. No sharpening as it simply just twists up; also it has a highlighter on the other end for your eyebrow bone 5/5

Rimmel is a pencil that does need sharpening but has got a good range in colours and the lid has a brush attached to it also, it also is a long stay make up pencil! 3/5

No7 is an amazing range for colour and also has an eyebrow brush on the lid and is also an amazing long stay! 3/5

Ladies any questions just tweet me….. mizz_glitzy!

Prom hairstyle guide

From finding the perfect dress to deciding on a glamorous hairdo, there is a lot of preparation involved in getting ready for prom – but worry not, we have the help from Pauls Hair World, online fashion retailers Serina Sophia and Forever Unique to make sure you look gorgeous from head to toe.

When it comes to choosing your prom dress, the choice really is endless when it comes to dress styles. To make this choice a little easier, online luxury fashion boutique, Serina Sophia, have shared with us their key summer dress styles. This year it is all about feminine pastel hues. Loved by the catwalk and celebrities alike, a pastel maxi dress is the ultimate fashion weapon to ensure you stand stylishly out from the crowd.

Fellow celebrity favourite brand, Forever Unique, have also provided us with a few ideas about which dress styles to keep our eye out for this season. From dramatic dip hem dresses to girly lace skater dresses, Forever Unique dresses will ensure you receive serious style credibility at your prom.

Once you have decided on the dress, you should style your hair into an equally gorgeous hairdo. Pauls Hair World have compiled a list of our favourite classic hair looks to complement this season’s hottest dress styles…

The ultimate prom hairstyle guide

If you’re wearing a One Shoulder Dress…

Grecian inspired and effortlessly classic, we recommend styling your hair into an updo so that the focus remains on the classic shoulder detailing. For an updo in minutes, look no further than the super chicBeauty Works Ballerina Style Bun Hair Piece. Simply style your hair into a ponytail and clip your hair into a bun, next attach the bun hairpiece by clipping it into place. The plaited detailing around the hair piece makes this a winning hair look.

If you’re wearing a Maxi Dress…

To continue the super feminine style of a maxi dress, why not go for gorgeous loose curls. To work the look, simply tong sections of hair into curls using a curling wand and don’t forget to spritz plenty of hairspray to hold hair into place. For instant prom queen style, finish the look with a shimmering crystal tiara.

If you’re wearing a Peplum Dress…

Peplum dresses feature a flare of fabric over the waist that works to flatter your figure. At Pauls Hair World we think that a sleek ponytail is a sophisticated accompaniment to the peplum dress. If your hair isn’t long enough for a long sashaying ponytail then the Beauty Works Sleek Clip-In Ponytail is just the ticket. To use the ponytail hair piece, simply style your hair into a high ponytail, next clip the ponytail hair piece over your own hair, adding any extra grips for support if required.

Mani Monday

Matt Suede nails 2This week’s Mani Monday is a simple nail, that’s quick to do, but definitely not boring.

For this manicure I used an In Vogue Matt Suede effect varnish.

All of these different styles of varnish, feather, leather, gel etc, make a beautiful and interesting nail with as little effort as possible.

This varnish glides on to the nail and dries quickly.

The finish is smooth, with the look of a perfectly matte metallic varnish.

It’s a little tough to take the varnish off, but with a beautiful look that was so easy to apply I think it definitely balances itself out.
