Avon join the fight against Domestic Violence with nail varnish

Avon have recently launched their Forget Me Not Nail Varnish (with proceeds going towards our domestic violence charity partners, Refuge and Women’s Aid) in a bid to fight against Domestic Violence.

Avon nail varnish forget me not

Forget Me Not is only available during the month of August and is part of Avon’s on-going programme to speak out against domestic violence and help reduce the staggering statistic that 1 in 4 women suffer from domestic violence.

The month of August also symbolises the fact that domestic violence is all year round and affects women all year round, not only when there are important dates such as International Women’s Day or 16 Days of Activism.

Show your support and speak out against this silent, ugly issue.

Price £3 with £1 donated to domestic violence charities in the UK.

Ralph & Russo gets new investment

The billionaire founder of Phones4u is believed to have invested millions in London-based couture label Ralph & Russo.

The British billionaire – who sold his Phones4u shares for £1.46 billion in 2006 – is said to have invested a huge sum in the brand, which according to his spokesman represents a “nine figure” valuation of the company.

The label – which was founded by designer Tamara Ralph, and company CEO Michael Russo in 2007 – counts Angelina Jolie, Beyoncé and Sheikha Mozah of Qatar among their clients and is reportedly planning to extend its offering into perfume and accessories following Mr. Caudwell’s investment.

Russo told Vogue.com: “We really weren’t looking for investment at all. We’d been approached before and it wasn’t something we were courting, but this deal felt really right for us.

“John has great business experience and his investment will allow us to execute our expansion and growth strategy more quickly than we had planned. It’s a hugely exciting time.”

Mr. Caudwell added: “Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo have built an extremely successful luxury brand with a great reputation and endless potential. I have no doubt that my investment will continue to elevate Ralph & Russo and I’m very excited about this inspiring and rapidly growing business.”

Despite his significant contribution, Mr. Caudwell has agreed to a “passive investment”, leaving Ralph and Russo in full control of all aspects of the company.

The big natural beauty swap

Fans of natural products can get 25 per cent off all beauty products in Holland & Barrett from 23 May to 11 June, simply by bringing in their old beauty products.

The Big Beauty Swap promotion is the latest in Holland & Barrett’s public commitment to natural beauty products, after banning all toiletries that contained harsh chemicals five years ago.

big beauty swapAs part of the promotion, any old, empty, or partly used toiletries such as shampoo, shower gel and moisturiser can be taken into any of their 720 stores and swapped for a discounted, more natural alternative

All the bottles collected nationwide will be recycled at the retailer’s distribution plant.

Many traditional beauty products can contain chemical preservatives like Parabens and Sodium Laurel Sulphate (SLS) which Holland & Barrett banned in 2009.

Five years on, natural beauty is the fastest growing category in store with most high street branches of Holland & Barrett now containing 1,000 products from skin and body care to natural make up, aromatherapy and popular functional beauty ranges including those that incorporate snail gel and bee venom.

Popular ranges sold in stores which the 25 per cent discount can be used on include Dr Organic, Burt’s Bees, Manuka Doctor, A’kin and Dead Sea Spa Magik.

Lucy Pottinger, Natural Beauty Buyer for Holland & Barrett said “The Big Beauty Swap is designed for people who might want to try a natural alternative to their normal beauty products for the first time. Every product we sell is natural and chemical free but still works as well as other high street brands.”

Jennifer Aniston reveals her hair icon

Jennifer Aniston may have inspired legions of fans with her own ‘Rachel’ hairstyle in the 90s but now she has revealed her own personal hair icon.

The actress is a huge fan of supermodel Kate Moss’ tousled blonde locks and prefers the dishevelled look to Duchess Catherine’s perfect curls.

Talking to Glamourmagazine.co.uk about her style icons, she explained: “What do they say? ‘The grass is always greener’. I always loved Kate Moss’ hair.

“Somehow that got misquoted as I love Kate Middleton’s hair (which I think is an absolutely gorgeous head of hair by the way) – but I definitely said Kate Moss. And I love Gisele’s hair – it’s so gorgeous. I just love no-nonsense hair; I think it’s sexy.”

Jennifer chopped off her luscious locks last year and was seen sporting a bob, and her hair has since grown back thicker.

She added: “I love long hair, I really love it, I always have. Sometimes I have those moments when it’s nice to change it up, cut it off and really bring it back. My hair from this last haircut has grown back so thick.”

Beverley Knight announced as the face of curly haircare specialists

The partnership will see the songstress represent the professional haircare range in all key salon and press marketing materials to highlight how the premium products and treatments help women with curly hair textures achieve beautiful, healthy looking hair.

Beverley comments: “It feels wonderful to be the MIZANI ambassador. The brand exemplifies everything that I’m about; freedom, movement and sleekness. The MIZANI woman is a strong woman; she knows her own mind. She knows where she is going. She is quite typically a powerful woman but not overpowering. She is confident, she is fun, she holds herself beautifully; she’s regal, positive – and that’s what I feel I am. Which is why the partnership with MIZANI is a perfect fit.”

The brand, which launched in 1991 and is part of the prestigious L’Oréal Professional

Products Division, hand-picked Beverley to be the face of MIZANI throughout 2014 and early

2015.

“Selecting Beverley Knight as the new MIZANI celebrity ambassador is thrilling,” says Tumi

Soyinka, MIZANI Senior Product Manager. “Not only is she a household name but she genuinely loves the brand. I am personally very excited to work with her and feel that her drive, dedication and passion for all projects she involves herself in – past and present – will also shine through in her new appointment.”

Beverley continues: “My favourite MIZANI product at the moment is the H20 Intense Night-Time

Treatment (RRP £9.80, 142g); it works like an absolute dream. I’m also a huge fan of

Supreme Oil Sulfate-Free Moisturizing Shampoo (RRP £12.90, 250ml) and Conditioner (RRP £13.35, 250ml). The point is that they work! They completely moisturise Afro and curly textured hair. And our hair, whilst it’s versatile, it can be quite brittle and quite fragile, so you need to pump as much moisture in it as you can. MIZANI products do exactly that.”

Stockist Information: MIZANI products are available from MIZANI authorised salons. To find your nearest stockist, please visit www.mizani-uk.com.
