Lady GaGa Gets Crazy With Fashion! May 14, 2009

Posted by Laura in : Fashion , add a comment

Now we know this isn’t exactly a new statement, as Lady GaGa has always been a bit bonkers when it comes to her dress sense, but her latest style debut has really caught our imagination…

An orb hat. Or more specifically her ‘GaGa Barrier’ which she wore on Ellen’s show in the U.S. on Tuesday. It was possibly her weirdest accessory to date, and that is by no mean feat.

This lady has rewritten the rule book on style, championing latex undies, bubble dresses, Geisha lips, thigh-high boots and post-it note dresses, which have widely been regarded as pretty darn fashionable.

The fashion pack absolutely love her and I can see why; she different. She’s completely and utterly bonkers when it comes to style, and that’s why we’re all under her little GaGa spell.

You know she’s never going to wear the same thing twice, you know that a pair of jeans are just not an option for her, and you know that you’re going to get value for your money if you ever see her at a stylish event.

Aside from the humour behind her clothes, people generally just seem to accept that she is eccentric and love her for it, rather than ostracize her or try to pigeon hole her into a ’sexy starlet’

I quite liked her orb hat, not least because it made me LOL when she nearly hit Ellen in the face when she went to hug her, but because it made her look wonderfully odd.

Although I’d never dare to give her looks a go, I think she’s fab and someone who is really in control of her own career and style. So, go GaGa, Go!

Wedding Dress Fashion

Wedding dresses as a fashion choice on a day other than THE big one may seem a bit crazy but we’re afraid it may be a surprise trend this summer. If not for us regular folk then certainly for our celebrity counterparts.

To be honest though with some stars choices, they do actually look like they are wearing wedding dress, particularly at last weeks tacky-dress spectacular the Soap Awards. Who’d have thought Hollyoaks’ Theresa McQueen had booked her wedding for the same day and have to rush to the awards in her wedding dress! Oh…she hadn’t you say? That was just her dress of choice? Ooooh….

With skirts getting bigger and poofier and frilly details like ruffles, 3D decoration and feathers taking over the catwalk most dresses only need to be dyed white to look like a bona fide wedding gown.

Our advice to you? When you hear rumours of a surprise celebrity wedding in the press, don’t be too believing they are probably just modelling the latest trend!

Jesus Snubbed My Models April 30, 2009

Wow, there’s a headline I never thought I’d write, but yes it is true. Jesus Luz, Madonna’s toyboy to me and you, has been snubbed by his fellow male models because of his new found fame.

His relationship with Queen Madge has propelled the Brazilian model into International fame, with designers left, right and centre hoping to snap him up for their campaigns.

Anyway it’s this success and apparent arrogance which has upset his fellow male models, with many refusing to speak to him on a recent catwalk show.

They reckon he’s nicked their jobs, which they have worked oh-so hard for and we’re inclined to agree, as before Madge got her paws on him, who the hell had heard of Jesus Luz?

Sure, he’s pretty, but so are a lot of male models and to hear that Marc Jacobs is personally supporting his campaign to stay and work in the country is a bit laughable.

First he went and landed the Dolce & Gabbana menswear campaign and now he’s got Marc on side? Something there does not add up, and with Madonna denying she used her connections to get him the gigs, the question is- how did he get so famous so fast?

With other reports suggesting he’s now trying to charge ludicrous amounts for personal appearances, we reckon he should enjoy this 15 minutes of fame while it lasts, because you know that when Madonna bails on him again, his star aint going to be shining nearly as bright.

Cheryl Cole Scared of GaGa Style April 28, 2009

Cheryl Cole has revealed that she isn’t brave enough to experiment with fashion in the way that Lady GaGa does and can we just say how glad we are.

While we know we have many celeb style icons we need them for different things and while GaGa lets us explore the wild side of fashion Cheryl is the play-it-safe girl. There’s no denying she looks great and she isn’t as boring as some people we could mention (Angelina Jolie) but Cheryl wears the stuff we would wear if we had the money.

A leotard wearing, pants showing, real hair bow-ed Cheryl? We don’t think we could handle that. We’re pretty sure GaGa couldn’t either.

GaGa is all about unique-ness so we’re sure she’d be more than a bit annoyed if Cheryl started tottering around in 3D dresses like her. Cheryl, don’t worry about trying Lady GaGa’s style, we like you just the way you are.

Karl Lagerfeld-Emma Watson Loving April 23, 2009

Yes, the title may be slightly misleading, but what I mean to say is how much these two clearly respect each other in the fashion industry, rather than suggest some entirely inappropriate relationship…

Anyway, the reason that I’m putting my thoughts across about these two fashion lovelies, is the fact that they can’t seem get away from each other at the moment!

Seriously, in the past week alone I’ve read about Emma’s praise for meeting the Chanel Legend, Karl’s response about how great Emma was, and then a bizarre fashion shoot, where the Harry Potter actress seemed to be dressed like a nun, while Karl photographed her for Crash magazine.

Chanel were supposedly eyeing up Emma not so long ago for a campaign, but alas it came to nothing and Emma is now just an avid admirer of Lagerfeld and his work.

However, we hear that she’s been bagged by Burberry instead, which just goes to show you Karl, if you wanted her you should have signed her up immediately!

Until you see sense, you can be new fashion BFF’s, as god knows we need some new people to talk about. We’re getting bored of Marc Jacobs and his million best friends he seems to have at the moment…

House of GaGa Revealed April 21, 2009

We freaking love Lady GaGa!

We know she might be a bit “much” and a bit attention seeking for some people but she’s like a breath of fresh air! We’ve had our fill of laid back boho or perfectly preened style and Lady GaGa is the perfect antidote!

Her 3D dresses are quickly catching on as fashion designers around the world are starting to show space age and structured outfits but enough of that, you all know how great she is.

What we want to discuss is the House of GaGa where her fashion creations come to life. We didn’t think this was a real place but GaGa has spoken out about the house, revealing it consists of her and a group of friends working together to make all aspects of her show work together right down to the lighting.

We’d love to be a fly on the wall in there!

Dr. Martens are popular again! April 16, 2009

Remember those fabulous Dr. Martens that were the epitome of 80s cool back in the day? Well, they’re back in fashion and have been given something of a funky makeover.

I say makeover, what I really mean is that they have been glammed up a touch, in addition to adding a few designer collaborations into the mix, and of course introducing the high-heeled version of the classic boot.

Agyness Deyn, Pixie Geldof, Alice Dellal and Fearne Cotton are just some of the big celeb endorsers of the brand at the moment, and they have inadvertently made them popular with more female shoppers, as sales shoot up across the globe.

In the past we wouldn’t really be caught dead working the grubby boots, unless we part of some kind of 80s tribe or culture, and even in the 90s when they had a brief revival, we were all about Girl Power and Union Jacks, as opposed to grungy fashion.

But now thanks to the catwalk, and the likes of Alexander Wang and Giles showing punky fashion in a cool way once more, suddenly we’re all clamouring to own the stylish bootie.

Bright pink, red or paint splattered, the choice is yours, but if you’re any kind of self respecting fashionista, then i’d hop foot it out now and get yourself a pair pronto!

Girls Aloud Fake Eyelashes – Tacky or Cool? April 14, 2009

Posted by jess in : Fashion , add a comment

Before we start lets make one thing clear, we LOVE Girls Aloud, really we do! We want to be best friends with all of the girls, well maybe not Sarah Harding, she’s a bit too attention seeking for us personally, but anyway we digress. So we love the girls but today we are slightly disappointed with them.

The girls are about as stylish as they come and all beautiful so there is no doubt there would be a market for them to launch their own beauty products but we can’t help but think Girls Aloud eyelashes are just a little bit tacky!

I mean we all remember when the Spice Girls put their names to everything going from crisps to deodorant and we really don’t want to see the girls go the same way. We know times are hard and that but still.

Besides if they were going to unveil some of their style secrets to us couldn’t they just have put their wardrobes in the middle of the street and opened the doors for us all to help ourselves!

Myabe you think we’re wrong though and will be snapping up five pairs, one for each school night! We’ll hold off for now but we may be tempted soon enough!

Girls Aloud’s New Style: Hit/Miss? April 9, 2009

I was a bit undecided when I saw Girls Aloud’s new bondage style for new vid, Untouchable, which is why I opened it up to you, dear FemaleFirst Readers.

Apparently most of you loved their new look, and it was just a natural progression for them, but me personally, I’m not a huge fan.

They’ve kind of been there, done that with a previous video, so it left me wondering, are Girls Aloud running out of style steam?

They’ve been croupiers, mechanics, salon technicians and bikers, to name a few, in the past, and now for this video i’m not sure what they are exactly. PVC queens?!

Bring back the tongue-in-cheek looks they sported in the beginning I say, and ditch the OTT sexy style.

You’re five gorgeous ladies, who don’t need to try to get our attention anymore, so let your fashion choices reflect that!

Cheryl Cole Mania Continues April 7, 2009

Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole has topped yet another fashion poll, this time she has been named Style Icon of the Decade by The Style Network.

What is it about Cheryl that gets men and women across the globe excited? Well she has got great style, a gorgeous face and beautiful glossy hair but at the same time she has made us smack our heads on our desks in anger when she continues to stand by loser husband Ashley Cole.

We’ve always been big fans of Cheryl but we can’t help but worry that the bubble could be about to burst.

Although we were big fans of the X Factor last year we prefer to see Cheryl on Girls Aloud duty, with the four other girls, who we bet are getting a teensy bit tired of the hype surrounding their friend.

Let the great outfits continue but can’t this hype all die down a bit so we can get back to loving Girls Aloud and stop worrying that Cheryl been catapulted to super fame is going to split up the group.
