Contraband Images

We haven’t seen Mark Wahlberg on the big screen since his great turn in The Fighter at the beginning of last year.

But next month sees him switch family boxing drama for action thriller with his new movie Contraband.

The movie sees him team up with Kate Beckinsale, Giovanni Ribisi and Ben Foster while Baltasar Kormákur is in the director’s chair.

Chris Farraday (Wahlberg) long ago abandoned his life of crime, but after his brother-in-law, Andy (Caleb Landry Jones), botches a drug deal for his ruthless boss, Tim Briggs (Giovanni Ribisi), Chris is forced back into doing what he does best, running contraband, to settle Andy’s debt.

Chris is a legendary smuggler and quickly assembles a crew with the help of his best friend, Sebastian (Ben Foster), to head to Panama and return with millions in counterfeit bills.

Things quickly fall apart and with only hours to reach the cash, Chris must use his rusty skills to successfully navigate a treacherous criminal network of brutal drug lords, cops and hit men before his wife, Kate (Kate Beckinsale), and sons become their target.

Contraband is released 16th March.

The Mechanic UK Trailer

Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) is the ‘mechanic’ – an elite assassin with a unique talent for eliminating targets with deadly skill and total emotional detachment.

To be the best in the business Bishop has given everything to realising professional perfection, the last and only attachment in his life is to his mentor and friend Harry (Donald Sutherland).

When Harry is murdered Bishop takes on a self-imposed assignment to kill the murderers, using Harry’s own legacy to avenge his death.

Things get complicated when Harry’s son Steve (Ben Foster) emerges with the same vengeful goal and a determination to learn Bishop’s trade.

Unable to turn his back on Harry’s son, Bishop goes against his vow to always work alone and takes on an apprentice; and when the methodical, detached professional takes on the impulsive, emotional student a deadly partnership is born.

But while in pursuit of their ultimate mark, deceptions threaten to surface and those hired to fix problems become the problems themselves.

The Mechanic is released 28th January.

The Mechanic Teaser Trailer

The Mechanic is the latest role for the lovely Jason Statham, which sees him team up with Ben Foster.

Directed by Simon West the movie is a remake of the remake of the Charles Bronson thriller.

Foster plays Steve McKenna, the young man who becomes an apprentice to a hitman played by Jason Statham. Sutherland plays the role of Foster’s father and Statham’s handler.

The Messenger Trailer

Starring Ben Foster, Woody Harrelson and Samantha Morton the latest war movie The Messenger was highly praised when is played at Sundance Film Festival earlier in the year.

Ben Foster stars as Will Montgomery, a U.S. Army officer who has just returned home from a tour in Iraq and is assigned to the Army’s Casualty Notification service.

Partnered with fellow officer Tony Stone (Woody Harrelson) to bear the bad news to the loved ones of fallen soldiers, Will faces the challenge of completing his mission while seeking to find comfort and healing back on the home front.

When he finds himself drawn to Olivia (Samantha Morton), to whom he has just delivered the news of her husband’s death, Will’s emotional detachment begins to dissolve and the film reveals itself as a surprising, humorous, moving and very human portrait of grief, friendship and survival.

The Messenger Images

2009 has been a great year of the war movie after the critically acclaimed The Hurt Locker earlier in the summer.

But now it’s the turn of The Messenger, which brings together Ben Foster, Woody Harrelson and Samantha Morton.

An American soldier struggles with an ethical dilemma when he becomes involved with a widow of a fallen officer.

The Messenger is the directorial debut for Oren Moverman, but he was the script writer behind the likes of Married Life and I’m Not There.

New Pandorum Trailer

Dennis Quaid is having a busy old summer after the success of G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra he is back with Pandorum with Ben Foster.

Two astronauts awaken in a hyper-sleep chamber aboard a spacecraft. It’s pitch black, they are disoriented, and the only sound is a low rumble and creak from the belly of the spacecraft.

They can’t remember anything – who are they, what is their mission? The only way out of the chamber is a dark and narrow airshaft.

Corporal Bower (Foster), the younger of the two, crawls inside, while the other, Lt. Payton (Quaid), stays behind for guidance on a radio transmitter.

As Bower ventures deeper and deeper into the ship, he discovers that he and Payton are not alone.

Slowly the spacecraft’s shocking and deadly secrets come unraveled, and the astronauts realize that the survival of mankind hinges on their actions.
