More Lawless Images

The first trailer for Lawless was released last week, and if you haven’t seen if you should check it out as this movie looks like one not to miss this summer.

And we have more treats for you today as we have some new pics from the movie for you to cast your eye over.

Lawless is a big screen adaptation of The Wettest County in the World by Matt Bondurant, which has been adapted by Nick Cave.

The movie marks the return of Tom Hardy as he reunites with Gary Oldman once again after Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and The Dark Knight Rises.

The movie also stars Shia LaBeouf, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Guy Pearce.

Set in the 1920s prohibition-era America, Lawless is the true story of the Bondurant brothers.  Brazen and fearless, these young rural bootleggers became legendary criminals.

The youngest brother, Jack (LaBeouf) is ambitious and impulsive, the middle brother, Howard (Jason Clarke), is loyal but reckless and eldest brother, Forrest (Hardy), leads the family with a silent determination.

As the Bondurants’ illicit business and legend grows, so too looms the danger of bigger fish, and it’s not long before the brothers must face the consequences.

Lawless is released 31st August.

Bravo Gary Oldman!!!

Bravo to Gary Oldman as he picks up his very first Oscar nomination for his performance in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

The actor takes on the role of George Smiley in the adaptation of the John Carre novel and his performance has FINALLY been recognised by an American awards.

He has picked up a Best Actor Oscar nod for his great turn – but it’s such a shame that the movie missed out on a Best Picture nomination.

YEs Oldman and the movie as a whole was completely overlooked at the Golden Globes but the Academy has put things right.

Sadly it seems that Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is too grey a movie to really win over American audiences and critics – which is such a shame as it was one of the best movies to hit the big screen last year.

However he faces tough competition from Demián Bichir, George Clooney, Jean Dujardin and Brad Pitt – Clooney is the favourite to walk away with the award on the evening.

However there was bad news for Michael Fassbender as his performance in Shame was overlooked.

The actor picked up a nomination at the Golden Globes, losing out to Clooney, but the Academy has not seen fit to recognise his fabulous work.

But it’s great news for Oldman who deserves all of the adulation that he is receiving for this performance because it really was a super film and turn.

Come On Bafta Back Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was one of the best movies to grace the big screen last year so it comes as no surprise that it would pick up 11 nominations from Bafta.

I, of course, am absolutely delighted as this is a movie that should have been recognised more of the American awards circuit than it currently has.

So it’s time for Bafta to step up and give this superb ensemble movie that awards that is so deserves.

Now I know over the last few years Bafta has become a major event on the awards calendar with many big stars gracing the big carpet.

Even so it doesn’t mean that Bafta has to follow in the footsteps of the American award ceremonies and honour the same movies.

Now there’s not doubt that the likes of The Descendants and The Artist thoroughly deserve all the praise and gongs that have been coming their way – and there’s no doubt that they are the major Oscar contenders.

The Bafta Awards are the chance to honour some of the best of British and it would be great to see Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy walk away with both Best Picture and Best British Movie.

Paddy Considine also produced a stunning movie Tyrannosaur last year and he too should also be recognised for his great work.

So will Bafta recognise British work or will it back the Hollywood?

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy Featurette

Now I caught Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy at the cinema yesterday and the movie is everything that it promised to be – and is, no doubt, one of the best British movies that has graced the big screen in quite a while.

Gary Oldman, who is superb, leads and all star cast that includes Colin Firth, Tom Hard, Ciaran Hinds, Mark Strong, Benedict Cumberbatch, John Hurt and Toby Jones.

If you are yet to see the movie the cast come together to take you behind the scenes of the movie.

There is already Oscar talk surrounding the movie and the central performance of Oldman as George Smiley.

Set in the 1970s, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy finds George Smiley, a recently retired MI6 agent, doing his best to adjust to a life outside the secret service.

However, when a disgraced agent reappears with information concerning a mole at the heart of the Circus, Smiley is drawn back into the murky field of espionage.

Tasked with investigating which of his trusted former colleagues has chosen to betray him and their country, Smiley narrows his search to four suspects – all experienced, urbane, successful agents – but past histories, rivalries and friendships make it far from easy to pinpoint the man who is eating away at the heart of the British establishment.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy & The Devil’s Double Posters

This September the adaptation of John le Carré’s novel Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy comes to the big screen – and it is a cast to die for.

Gary Oldman joins forces with Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, John Hury, Ciaran Hinds, Mark Strong and Benedict Cumberbatch in what promises to be one of the best political dramas of the year.

Baghdad 1987, Latif Yahia (Dominic Cooper) is taken to see his former schoolmate Uday (also played by Cooper), eldest son to Saddam Hussein.

Latif is told that a great honour had been bestowed upon him: because of the great likeness between them, he has been chosen to be Uday’s ‘fiday’ – his body double. Trapped, tortured and fearful for the safety of his family Latif has no choice but to comply.

A chilling vision of the House of Saddam Hussein comes to life as Latif is forced to become part of Uday’s world, witness to the horror of his insane life of debauchery, excess and brutality.

A world entrenched in betrayal and corruption and an experience for which he almost pays with his life on more than one occasion.

The Devil’s Double is based on true events.

The Dark Knight Rises Teaser Poster

The Dark Knight Rises promises to be THE movie of 2012 and it is one that I am already incredibly excited about.

Christopher Nolan is back in the director’s chair and there is only one question surrounding this movie… and he better The Dark Knight?

Yes can he got a step further than the movie that stunned us all back in 2008? Well we really are going to have to wait and see – I personally think that the movie will be a triumph.

Christian Bale is back as Bruce Wayne while Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman all make a very welcome return.

But there are also a lot of new faces on the cast list including Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Tom Hardy.

Take a look at the first teaser poster for the movie:

New Red Riding Hood Clips

Amanda Seyfried returns to the big screen this week, her first movie since Letters To Juliet, in Red Riding Hood.

The movie is directed by Catherine Hardwicke, who has helmed a movie since Twilight, and she has reimagined the popular and well know story.

She has gathered a strong cast that also includes Gary Oldman, Billy Burke and Julie Christie as well as introducing us to Shiloh Fernandez and Max Irons.

Valerie is a beautiful young woman torn between two men. She is in love with a brooding outsider, Peter (Shiloh Fernandez), but her parents have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Max Irons).

Unwilling to lose each other, Valerie and Peter are planning to run away together when they learn that Valerie’s older sister has been killed by the werewolf that prowls the dark forest surrounding their village.

For years, the people have maintained an uneasy truce with the beast, offering the creature a monthly animal sacrifice.

But under a blood red moon, the wolf has upped the stakes by taking a human life. Hungry for revenge, the people call on famed werewolf hunter, Father Solomon (Gary Oldman), to help them kill the wolf.

But Solomon’s arrival brings unintended consequences as he warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them.

As the death toll rises with each moon, Valerie begins to suspect that the werewolf could be someone she loves.

Red Riding Hood is released 15th April. Take a look at new clips from the movie:

Planet 51 Trailer

It’s animation all the way with the likes of Up, 9 and now A Christmas Carol all enjoying major success at the box office and Planet 51 is hoping for the same thing.

American astronaut Captain Charles “Chuck” Baker, lands on Planet 51 thinking he’s the first person to step foot on it.

To his surprise, he finds that this planet is inhabited by little green people who are happily living in a white picket fence world reminiscent of a cheerfully innocent 1950s America, and whose only fear is that it will be overrun by alien invaders–like Chuck!

With the help of his robot companion “Rover” and his new friend Lem, Chuck must navigate his way through the dazzling, but bewildering, landscape of Planet 51 in order to escape becoming a permanent part of the Planet 51 Alien Invaders Space Museum.

As per usual a string of famous actors have lent their voices to the movie including Dwayne Johnson, Gary Oldman, John Cleese and Freddie Benedict.
