A1 came out around the same time as Westlife, or Westside as they were known back in the day, and were regulars on the Smash Hits Tour scene. Their most famous hit was a cover of Take On Me by A-ha and they also brought out popular slowy Like A Rose….but enough of the music lets get to the nitty gritty of which one of these pop munchkins did you all fancy??

Ben Adams was always the obvious choice with his little curtains hair do and his cute chubby face you just wanted to squeeze. He also did the majority of the singing in the band too and was guaranteed to be greeted with a wave of hysterical screams everytime he went near the mike. We like to call him ‘the bait’…because he reeled in all those horny teenage fans.
Christian Ingebrigtsen was the blonde Norwegian one who ‘thought’ he was the hot one but really he was the random serious foreign member. He took his music far more seriously than his botband status would allow and was often heard saying things like ‘A1 write all their own songs and all play instruments’….come on! We couldn’t of cared less about your musical talents, Christian, we all just wanted you to get your pecs out.
Mark Read was the Tony Mortimer of the group. Girls who wanted more than a pretty face and a hot body fancied him. He was deemed to be the brains of the band and was often pictured sitting knowingly behind a piano…whether he actually played it is another question.
Then there was Paul Marazzi- he was the one who was there for the girls with no self esteem…you know every boyband isn’t complete without one odd looking member. He let the ugly girls thing they had a hope in hell of actually dating a member of A1. All those who claimed their fave was Paul because ‘he seemed to have the nicest personality’- they were lying!
