Grammy Award Nominations 2010 – Ruth’s Picks

Okay, so the Grammy Award nominations have been announced, and an awards list just wouldn’t be the same without me picking my favourite! So below with the list of the lucky nominees in each category, and who I’ll be betting my chocolate coins on…

Song of the Year

‘Poker Face’ Lady GaGa
‘Pretty Wiings’ Maxwell
‘Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)’ Beyoncé
‘Use Somebody’ Kings of Leon
‘You Belong With Me’ Taylor Swift

I’m betting a coin on  POKER FACE – LADY GAGA to win – Simply because I HAVE to listen to this song before I go out on a Friday night, it really gets my dancing feet moving.

Pop Duo or Group With Vocals

Black Eyed Peas, ‘I Gotta Feeling’
Bon Jovi, ‘We Weren’t Born to Follow’
The Fray, ‘Never Say Never’
Daryl Hall and John Oates, ‘Sara Smile’
MGMT, ‘Kids’

I’m betting a coin on BLACK EYED PEAS – I GOTTA FEELING to win – Another song I can’t help but dance to, regardless of if I’m in a club, my car or sat at my desk.

Best Rock Album

AC/DC, ‘Black Ice’
Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood, ‘Live From Madison Square Garden’
Green Day ’21st Century Breakdown’
Dave Matthew Band, ‘Big Whiskey And The Groogrux King’
U2, ‘No Line on the Horizon’

I’m betting a coin on GREEN DAY – 21ST CENTURY BREAKDOWN to win – not because I think it’s better than all the other albums in the running, but because I’ve been a Green Day fan since I was about 13, so I’m sticking by them.

Best Rap Solo Performance

Drake, ‘Best I Ever Had’
Eminem, ‘Beautiful’
Jay-Z, ‘D.O.A. (Death Of Auto-Tune)’
Kid Cudi, ‘Day ‘N’ Nite’
Mos Def, ‘Casa Bey’

I’m betting a coin on EMINEM – BEAUTIFUL to win – because he really is beautiful.

Record of the Year

Beyoncé, ‘Halo’
Black Eyed Peas, ‘I Gotta Feeling’
Kings of Leon, ‘Use Somebody’
Lady GaGa, ‘Poker Face’
Taylor Swift, ‘You Belong With Me’

I’m betting a coin on  BEYONCE to win – not my favourite song out of all of them, personally I prefer the BEP’s, but I think this song was amazing, and deserves the prize.

Album of the Year

Beyoncé, ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’
Black Eyed Peas, ‘The E.N.D.’
Lady GaGa, ‘The Fame’
Dave Matthew Band, ‘Big Whiskey And The Groogrux King’
Taylor Swift, ‘Fearless’

I’m betting a coin on LADY GAGA – THE FAME to win – I LOVE this album, it’s never got old… however, Beyonce and Taylor Swift have been pretty lucky with awards this year, so I reckon it will be one of them.

Best New Artist

Zac Brown Band
Keri Hilson
MGMT
Silversun Pickups
The Ting Tings

I’m betting a coin on MGMT to win – however, neither the Ting Tings or MGMT are new this year as I remember writing about them last year…

Best Female Pop Vocal Performance

Adele, ‘Hometown Glory’
Beyoncé, ‘Halo’
Katy Perry, ‘Hot N Cold’
Pink, ‘Sober’
Taylor Swift, ‘You Belong With Me’

I’m betting a coin on PINK – SOBER to win – Pink is my absolute hero, I think if I was going to be like anyone in the music business it would HAVE to be her, she is an utter legend.

Best Male Pop Vocal Performance

John Legend ‘This Time’
Maxwell, ‘Love You’
Jason Mraz, ‘Make It Mine’
Seal, ‘If You Don’t Know Me By Now’
Stevie Wonder, ‘All About the Love Again’

I’m betting a coin on STEVIE WONDER – ALL ABOUT THE LOVE AGAIN to win – you just can’t give it to anyone else.

Do you agree?

Fergie Strips For Allure Magazine – Pictures Here!

Now, we all know that Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas has one of the hottest bodies around, and we all put down the ice cream whenever she comes on MTV… so lets make ourselves feel even fatter by looking at her latest saucy snaps shall we?

fergie_allure_cover

Showing off her amazing figure in this month’s Allure magazine, Fergie left little to the imagination as she covered herself in fake tan and baby oil before whipping her bra off altogether for the rather foxy show below.

fergie_allure3

I hope that this shoot gives the Black Eyed Peas some well deserved positive publicity after Fergie’s bandmate will.I.am and the bands manager are in a spot of trouble after beating up celebrity blogger Perez Hilton on Sunday night.

Come on, who would kill for a body life Ferg?

Ruth On Tuesday

Oh Britney Spears, just when we think you’re getting back on the wagon, you go and take your top off, slap some fake tattoos over your nipples and start writing around a pole… will you ever learn?

Seems that Pete Doherty really is in Wastelands – that’s the name of his new album FYI – after he was found slumped in the toilet of a British Airways jet on his way to Geneva.

Those internet rats are always leaking music videos before they’re actually finished, but because FemaleFirst and the Black Eyed Peas have a special ‘understanding’ they have asked us to give you the official premiere of the, I Gotta Feeling music video.

Sleeping in your make up isn’t such a sin according to Little Boots . The singer thinks she “looks nice” when she sleeps in her make-up and apparently often goes to bed without cleansing. Hmmmm but will she still be saying that when she breaks out in spots?

It seems that Jason Issacs has been looking into some mysterious crystal ball and has come to some conclusion that Daniel Radcliffe will quit acting to be a director. Seeing as Radcliffe really has only had one major role, yes I’m talking about the boy wizard, I think it’s a tad early to be talking about retirement!

Oasis brought their music home to Manchester’s Heaton Park this weekend, with over 200 thousand fans coming to the city to see their ‘homecoming’ over the past three days. We think it’s time we salute one of the greatest British bands of all time.

Ruth’s Wednesday Handful

You’d think Fergie would take her music career very seriously these days, but apparently not, as she swigged bottles of wine whilst recording The E.N.D, so she could show fans what it’s like to party with the Black Eyed Peas. Very professional Fergielicious… what a great role model you are to teens

Prison bound rapper T.I. played a rousing farewell gig to fans on Sunday as he winds down his career before embarking on a year-long stint behind bars. Bye Bye T.I, have a nice, Um, break.

Ok so Inglorious Basterds may have been grabbing all of the Cannes headlines but it wasn’t Tarantino’s war movie that scooped the Palme d’Or as Michael Haneke went under the radar to claim the top prize.

There are not many people who would turn down Roberto Cavalli, especially in favour of Marks and Spencer but Myleene Klass has done just that. The TV presenter said no to becoming the face of Cavalli’s designer labels sticking with the high street favourite. Roberto’s not giving up yet though.

Well, well, well boys and girls, it’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for… FemaleFirst’s Band Wars 2009 is now open for entries and we want YOU!If you’re in a band, or you know someone in a band who might want to get their little mitts on a weekend at a top London Recording Studio, some promotion from Momentum PR and the chance to get your hands on some Glamour Kills merch; then look no further… because July 12 is your chance to sort it out! I am good to you guys…

Taylor Swift To Sell Prom Dress
I know Taylor Swift is getting a bit of a name for herself in the music world at the moment, but I’m not entirely sure she’s that big that she can start selling off her clothes like Ginger Spice.

Bow Wow In Love With Run-DMC Star’s daughter

He’s the man all guitarists aspire to. A legend in the music world, Slash, also known as Saul Hudson, catapulted to fame during his time spent as the lead guitarist of rock band Guns N’ Roses, and added a new chapter to his book of achievements as member of Grammy award-winning super group Velvet Revolver.

For anyone who reads FemaleFirst regularly, you’ll know I have a bit of thing for Scottish bands (mainly Biffy Clyro) at the moment, so when Marmaduke Duke’s latest album landed on my desk, I couldn’t wait to crack it open.
