The Dark Knight Rises New Banners

The Dark Knight Rises is set to be one of the biggest movie events of the year and there is now only a couple of weeks to wait before the final explosive instalment hits the big screen.

Sadly it will be Christopher Nolan final Batman movie but, if the trailers are anything to go by, it is set to be the biggest and the best.

Christian Bale is back to fight evil once again and this time he is facing the might of Bane, played by Tom Hardy as the Brit actor reunites with his Inception filmmaker.

And it is quite the Inception reunion as Joseph Gordon Levitt and Marion Cotillard are both on board while Anne Hathaway takes on the role of Catwoman.

And we have a host of new banners for you to take a look at:

The Dark Knight Rises Promo Art

There are only a handful of weeks to go now before we finally get to see The Dark Knight Rises, director Christopher Nolan’s third and final Batman movie.

I have to admit it is THE movie that I am looking forward to this summer and it promises to be one of the biggest grossing of 2012.

Unfortunately we are going to have to wait a little longer before it is released – however I do have some promo art from the movie for you to take a look at.

None of these shots are from the film itself but boy they do look stunning:

The movie is set eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, the terrorist leader Bane arrives in Gotham City, pushing it and its police force to their limits, forcing its former hero Batman to resurface after taking the fall for Harvey Dent’s crimes.

The Dark Knight Rises Images

There is now movie more anticipated in 2012 than The Dark Knight Rises – perhaps The Hobbit it up there as well – as it has been four years since a Batman movie graced the big screen.

It’s hard to believe that it was 2008 when we were all punching the air whilst watching The Dark Knight and now Christopher Nolan is back for what looks set to be an epic finale.

Yes, unfortunately, this will be the last time that Nolan directs a Batman movie and the final time that Christian Bale will be taking on the role of Bruce Wayne.

This time around Batman has his hands full with new villain Bane, played by Tom Hardy.

Eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, the terrorist leader Bane arrives in Gotham City, pushing it and its police force to their limits, forcing its former hero Batman to resurface after taking the fall for Harvey Dent’s crimes.

This is set to be THE movie of the summer and I smell another $1billion hit on the horizon!!

The Dark Knight (2008)

What was so exciting about The Dark Knight back in 2008 was seeing the character The Joker return to the big screen for the first time since Jack Nicholson.

Now Nicholson’s performance is still one of his greatest for me and I did wonder if it would ever be topped… but Heath Ledger’s incarnation of Batman’s nemesis did just that.

And director Christopher Nolan cleverly used the Joker in the poster campaign to add even more hype to a movie that everyone was already excited to see.

“Why so serious?” is Ledger’s most famous line in the movie and the fact that it is written in blood shows that, this time around, the Joker is more of a villain than perhaps in the past.

Also the excitement was ramped up even more as the Joker himself is actually blurred and we don’t get a good look at his face.

And all the hype was totally justified as Heath Ledger gave the performance of his career! A well deserved Oscar!

First Pic Of Catwoman

Now I have to admit that I did raise an eyebrow when it was announced that Anne Hathaway was cast as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises.

But I am all for reserving my judgement until seeing them in action, some though Heath Ledger would be a mistake and look how that turned out!!

Well filming is underway on the third of Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies and a first look at Hathaway in action has been released.

And it looks like the actress is set to kick some serious ass, if this pic is anything to go by, in what promises to be the biggest movie of 2012.

Christian Bale is back as Bruce Wayne while Tom Hardy joins Hathaway on the baddie list for the movie.

The Dark Knight Rises is released next summer – take a sneak peak at the pic of Hathaway in action.

The Dark Knight Rises Teaser Poster

The Dark Knight Rises promises to be THE movie of 2012 and it is one that I am already incredibly excited about.

Christopher Nolan is back in the director’s chair and there is only one question surrounding this movie… and he better The Dark Knight?

Yes can he got a step further than the movie that stunned us all back in 2008? Well we really are going to have to wait and see – I personally think that the movie will be a triumph.

Christian Bale is back as Bruce Wayne while Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman all make a very welcome return.

But there are also a lot of new faces on the cast list including Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Tom Hardy.

Take a look at the first teaser poster for the movie:

First Image of Bane In Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises is set to be one of the biggest movies of 2012 – and a film that I am already getting excited about.

Christopher Nolan and co are really going to have to push the boat out if they want to taop The Dark Knight – which, in my humble opinion, is the greatest super hero movie of all time.

But Nolan has put together a cast that could do exactly that as filming on the movie has got underway.

Christian Bale, hot from his Oscar win, is set to reprise the role of Bruce Wayne while Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine are also back.

Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Tom Hardy and Marion Cotillard are just a few of the new faces on the cast lists – Levitt, Hardy and Cotillard reteaming with Nolan.

And it’s the lovely Tom Hardy that is the focus of our attention as the first image of him as Bane has been released.

Batman Casting Was Hardy Expected

Not so long ago, Christopher Nolan announced that he would be making a sequel to The Dark Knight and people were just a bit excited about it. Just a bit. Then it was announced the sequel was to be called The Dark Knight Rises and to be honest, that’s not a great name is it?

But after the tragic death of Heath Ledger, whose performance as The Joker in the Dark Knight was nothing short of phenomenal, the big question hanging over this next film was what villain would terrorise Gotham next?

Then there were rumours floating around about Inception’s Tom Hardy being the next big baddie. Rumours of him playing Doctor Hugo Strange to be precise. Doctor Hugo Strange is one of the oldest Batman villains, even outdating The Joker and would probably fit in well with the gritty, realistic Gotham Nolan has created. But a baldy with a huge beard and John Lennon glasses… Doesn’t exactly fit the Tom Hardy look does it?

Personally, after seeing Hardy at his fighting-best in Bronson, the character of Bane immediately came to mind. Bane being a mask-wearing, hardened South American criminal with superhuman strength due to controlled exposure to ‘venom’, an experimental drug. Bane is the only character in Batman’s history to put him out of action for a considerable amount of time after “breaking the bat’s back”.

And then this week… Well this week it was announced that Tom Hardy would be playing… Bane. Not Strange. In fact it doesn’t even look like Strange will even make an appearance. In addition to this announcement, it was revealed that the beautiful Anne Hathaway will be playing Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, although in Warner Bros’ press release no reference was made to Catwoman. But then, when Aaron Eckhart was cast as Harvey Dent in the last film, there was no reference to Two-Face either, so let’s ignore that.

So we have Bane and Catwoman. Catwoman, although she most likely needs no introduction, being a latex-laden thief of the night and, in many incarnations, Bruce Wayne’s love interest. So, the chances are that after the death of Rachel in the last film, Hathaway could be stepping into Maggie Gyllenhall’s shoes. Who knows.

Bane has been in a previous Batman film, the ultra-terrible Batman and Robin, starring George Clooney in a suit that had nipples on it. Big, black, unnecessary nipples. In this film Bane, along with pretty much all of the rest of the characters, was essentially turned into a joke.

A veiny, green, giant with a silly costume and close to zero dialogue besides the odd grunt or roar, it won’t be difficult for Hardy to top the performance, but making Bane realistic enough to be acceptable in Nolan’s Gotham certainly will be. After all, a man in a luchador style mask with a suit designed to administer drugs at the push of a button isn’t exactly something you see every day, but this is Christopher Nolan we’re talking about here. He’ll figure it out somehow.

It’s the same with Hathaway as Catwoman. Fanboys/girls from here to the ends of the earth were in semi-uproar when her casting was announced, and to be fair she isn’t the first person you’d consider of when you think of the role. Catwoman has also been made into a joke in the past, most notably so in her own film starring Halle Berry. A film that sank into nothingness/bargain bins due to being, for a lack of a better word, a mess. But like we said, Christopher Nolan has proven time and time again that he knows what he’s doing, so we’ll just have to trust his decision.

If the last two Batman films (and Inception for that matter) are anything to go on, then The Dark Knight rises should be yet another a fan-satisfying, highly successful outing. And anyone with any doubt out there should perhaps watch those films again to reassure themselves. These casting announcements, although unexpected, are incredibly exciting. We can’t wait to find out more.

Inception LA Premiere

Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan directs an international cast in an original heist actioner that travels around the globe and into the intimate and infinite world of dreams.

Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable.

Cobb’s rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved.

Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible–inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one.

If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming.
