The Olympic Closing Ceremony

I think it’s fair to say that the entire world (except for Rebecca in the office, who fell asleep. I know!) was watching the incredible Olympic 2012 Closing Ceremony.

Now it has to be said, it was no Danny Boyle ceremony but it was certainly entertaining. The beginning was a bit touch and go, and I feel like it only really kicked off when George came out and got the party started.

Slightly disappointed that he shunned a second classic for his new song, but none the less I was dancing round my living room imitating his dance moves whilst questioning my mother as to how no woman knew he was gay back in the 80’s?

The best bit, by a long mile, was the Spice Girls reunion. Oh. My. God. I was so insanely excited after those black cabs started pulling out onto the stage. It was like reliving my entire childhood all over again! Why they only got one song I’ll never know, they were the best thing there!

Annie Lennox was amazing, loved the pirate theme and the Freddie Mercury bit was fantastic, and then fantastically ruined by Jessie J air-guitaring to one of his songs.

Despite all of this, the most emotional part of the night was when Take That took the stage, complete with Gary Barlow to sing Rule The World. What a guy, with everything that he’s been through these last few weeks, he was still prepared to sing for Queen and country. If anyone, he deserves a medal!

Now, I know I said the Spice Girls was the best bit by a long mile, and I was completely lying, because the absolute cherry on top of the cake was good old Boris having a boogie to Spice Up Your Life. History – made.

Latest 127 Hours Trailer

Danny Boyle took his career to the next level last year when he produced Slumdog Millionaire, a movie which fully deserved the hype and attention that surrounded it and of course the Oscar that it received.

After going rather quiet, he was rumoured to have been offered My Fair lady and the new James Bond, the Oscar winning filmmaker is back with his new movie 127 Hours.

127 Hours is already turning heads as Boyle brings the amazing true story of Aaron Rolston to the big screen, which James Franco in the leading role.

The movie follows the remarkable adventure to save himself after a fallen boulder crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah.

Over the next five days Ralston examines his life and survives the elements to finally discover he has the courage and the wherewithal to extricate himself by any means necessary, scale a 65 foot wall and hike over eight miles before he is finally rescued.

Throughout his journey, Ralston recalls friends, lovers (Clemence Poesy), family, and the two hikers (Amber Tamblyn and Kate Mara) he met before his accident.

Will they be the last two people he ever had the chance to meet? A visceral, thrilling story that will take an audience on a never before experienced journey and prove what we can do when we choose life.

127 Hours is released 7th October. Take a look at the new trailer for the movie:
