Best Movie Posters: Chinatown

Chinatown (1974)

Jack Nicholson teamed up with Roman Polanksi in 1974 for Chinatown – a movie that also starred Faye Dunaway and John Huston.

A private detective investigating an adultery case stumbles on to a scheme of murder that has something to do with water.

There are a handful of great posters for this movie but it’s the classic American version that, I think, is by far the best.

There is a real art deco feel to the design and there is a real throwback feel to the old style detective novels.

But there is just something really arty and classic about this poster – which sets it apart from other artwork of this time.

How Do You Know Blooper Reel

We haven’t seen Reese Witherspoon on the big screen since Four Christmases back in 2008, however she did lend her voice to Monsters vs Aliens, but she is back this week with her new romantic comedy How Do You Know.

The Oscar winning actress leads an all star cast of Jack Nicholson, Owen Wilson and Paul Rudd in a movie that is directed by James L. Brooks

Lisa is a woman whose athletic ability is the defining passion of her life, having been her focus since early childhood. When she is cut from her team, everything she has ever known is suddenly taken from her. Not knowing what to do, she stumbles toward regular life.

In this mode, she begins a fling with Matty, a major league baseball pitcher, a self-centred ladies man — a narcissist with a code of honour.

George is a straight-arrow businessman whose complicated relationship with his father, Charles, takes a turn when George is accused of a financial crime, even though he’s done nothing wrong.

Though he may be headed to jail, George’s honesty, integrity, and unceasing optimism may be his only path to keeping his sanity.

Before Lisa’s relationship with Matty takes root, she meets George for a first date on the worst evening of each of their lives: she has just been cut, and he has just been served.

When everything else seems to be falling apart, they will discover what it means to have something wonderful happen.

How Do You Know is released 28th January. We have a blooper rell for you to feast your eyes on:
