“Kanye, I’ma Let You Finish”

So my life was absolutely made last night when I saw that Kanye West got a taste of his own medicine at the BET Awards.

We all remember three years ago when Kanye pulled that ridiculous stunt of interrupting Taylor Swifts acceptance speech for Best Video to tell the whole world that he thought that Beyonce deserved it?

Well at the BETs Jay-Z give it all back by interrupting his acceptance speech for Best Video. The look on the audiences face was priceless and everyone had a good old laugh.

To be fair, Kanye took it well and laughed along too, claiming that he only did it in the first place to have Beyonce’s back.

I can imagine this year’s BET Awards were very enjoyable to watch, for Taylor Swift especially.

Hackney Weekend 2012

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to go but I’ve watched along over the weekend and WOW. Personal favourite had to be Jay-Z, and when he brought out Kanye, it was just fantastic. It’s really true, he doesn’t need anything but himself to make it an electrifying show.

Other favourites were Florence, Nicki Minaj and Ed Sheeran but I especially liked Tinie Tempah, he’s been away for a while but he was brill, really got the crowd going and I couldn’t help bouncing around my kitchen to it.

There was big talk around Rihanna’s performance and as usual, she came out partially dressed and then let a member of the audience play around with her bra, but despite this I actually enjoyed her show. She isn’t the best singer, in my opinion, but her songs are catchy and she does work the stage incredibly.

I love Lana Del Rey, she dresses beautifully and I wish to God I had her hair. I loved her album, it was on repeat in my car for weeks and weeks, but when she sings live, I can’t help but cringe a little. Her set at Hackney was no different, and it completely pains me! Sometimes she had it so right, but when it’s wrong, it’s very wrong.

I don’t think they’ll top it next year, it was a great weekend and had arguably THE biggest names in music headlining, doesn’t stop me yearning for the next one to come round quick!

Celebrity Baby Names

Most parents open the baby names book and go with Adam or Anna, keep it simple and easy because there are too many other important duties to be doing over choosing a name. Not celebrities, oh no.

The celeb baby name choices seem to be getting stranger as the years go on, almost like it’s some sort of competition.

The latest baby in Hollywood is baby Pearl, daughter of Jack Osbourne and Lisa Stelly. Now, I quite like the name Pearl, it’s unusual but pretty so I can live with it but then you look back a few months and that’s when the names get really weird.

Beyonce and Jay Z named their daughter Blue Ivy, now I love Beyonce and Jay Z but come one, who on earth names their daughter Blue?

Then there was Hilary Duff naming her son Luca, it’s like she forgot to right the ‘s’ on the birth certificate and then just went along with it. Lastly, and by far the worst, Peaches Geldof and fiancée Thomas Cohen named their son Astala.

Yes, Astala. No, I have no idea what it means or where it came from either. All I know is that Peaches better put some money aside because as soon as Astala realises exactly how ridiculous that name is he’ll be running straight down to the courts to get it changed.

Expect great things from Beyonce’s maternity line…

Things are never simple in Hollywood. Even the concept of having a child (something that A-listers and everyday people surely do the same) is different.

Yes, of course I’m talking about Babyonce.

In the short space of time since Beyonce and Jay Z have announced they are expecting their first child together, a lot has happened. Not only was it revealed in a pretty amazing way (because you’re just not getting it right if you’re not on stage at a major awards ceremony rubbing your bump anymore…) but since then drama, hysteria and excitement has enveloped for the notorious private R&B golden couple.

Beyone has since launched her own clothing line with her mum for Selfridges, celebrated her 30th birthday with a luxury holiday with her hubby and announced that she would love to design her own maternity collection.

Oh and caused a stir with her supposed ‘fake baby bump’ (and I was sucked in for a moment too myself) and subsequent rumours of surrogates and adoptions – all of which have been slammed by the representatives for the couple (phew…order is restored) and we can all be back on our way, waiting for little junior to arrive in February.

While Beyonce’s House of Dereon received mixed reviews, many saying that the line was trying to do too much and had far too many references to gel together as a collection, a maternity line would be right up her street.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, she said: “All I see now are clothes that are flattering on a pregnant woman. It’s been so exciting for me! I love figuring out designs that make me feel edgy and sexy while pregnant.”

After her red carpet appearance decked in the orange Lanvin gown, I have a strong feeling that this might just be suited to the lovely Miss Knowles…

Who knows, we may even be seeing a childrens’ line in the future too?

Did YOU See Karly Ashworth @ TITP? Here’s What She Got Up To.

T in the Park has always been Scotland’s most successful music Festival and this year was no different as once again it was full to the brim with die hard patriotic Scots, and guess what? I was lucky enough to get myself a Sunday ticket and boy was it worth the hangover the next day!

The rain saw festival-goers and campers drenched head to toe in thick mud but it did nothing to stop the party or dampen the mood, the whole place was buzzing with everyone just so excited and happy to be there!

I had been due to go backstage and interview some up and coming bands for FemaleFirst – including my new friends in Hip Parade – however I could only get up on the Sunday so found myself dancing with nothing more than a Scotland flag on to Dizze Rascal and Jay Z!

‘He’s just a Rascal, a Dizzee Rascal’ were the words to greet us in the crowd and that was it, I was dancing my feet to the bone! The blast of music sent the entire crowd crazy, especially since Dizzee has a bit of a reputation for being the crown prince of rap, but a Prince his is most certainly not… after his blinding performance at T I can tell you he is NO other rappers warm-up man!

Well, apart from maybe Jay-Z, who made the most of a video countdown to add to the tension before he leapt onto stage. As it counted down from 10, 9, 8… I thought my eardrums were going to burst, and they pretty much did when the band strike up and Jay appears. What.A.God.

‘I like the way this is going’ he tells us ‘ you got it up to 10. But this is T in the Park – so turn it all the way up to 99!’ And at that moment, out blasts 99 Problems, the highest of the sets many exceptional highlights. On that point though, I’d like to apologise now to all the peoples toes I stood on from dancing like a maniac!

Once I had danced in the darkness with David Guetta I came out just in time to see the finale fireworks being set off to mark the end of another successful year at T, and the loss of my festival virginity too! This was my FIRST ever concert/ festival I have ever been to and words can’t describe how much fun I had! I’d like to thank my gorgeous boyfriend who managed to get his hands on one of the sold out tickets so I could go and experience my FIRST ever concert with friends!

T in the Park… I WILL be seeing you next year!

Is It Just Me Or Is Collision Course One Of The Best Records Ever?

Today I’m having a rubbish day, I’m in a grumpy mood (despite the fact that it’s Friday AND I became the proud owner of a Vivienne Westwood necklace yesterday) but I’ve whacked on some Jay-Z & Linkin Park and I’m feeling a little bit chirpier.

Don’t get carried away though, my eyes are still sore and the two cookies I’ve just eaten are not helping to do whatever chocolate’s supposed to do in a time like this, anyway… so, Collision Course… f*ck yeah!

I like Jay-Z’s voice, I’m not a fan of rap really, in fact I steer well clear of people who use letters in their stage name (T.I, MIA, T-Pain) as it usually means I’m going to have some ghetto rubbish blaring into my ears and make me want to tie a scarf around my head and stuff a white towel in my back pocket.

Although, I am a fan of Linkin Park – mainly Chester Bennington – and Hybrid Theory was one of those ‘growing up albums’ that I dig out every so often when I’m feeling all rebellious!

Anyway, you’ve GOT to have heard Numb/Encore, which was the single that sparked this collaboration in the first place, if you haven’t then come hang out with me for the evening (but bring wine) and you’ll be certain to hear it as I’ve just set it as my ring tone…

I am aware that I haven’t actually written anything that remotely relates to the title of this blog post yet, so here we go… I really like the way Linkin Park made the whole ‘rap metal’ scene cool, and so to team up with Jay-Z was like a collaborative dream come true for many a fatcat music mogul.

And I really bought into the whole franchise too since getting my paws on the album again on Monday (though originally released back in 2004) I have listened to it about four time a day. Does that make me a bit insane? Probably.

Anyway, if you’re still loving it six years on, hit me up and tell me which track’s your favourite, I think I’d go for Points Of Authority/99 Problems/One Step Closer.

Have a great weekend kids,
