Birthday Girl Down Under

Hey guys,

So, this week I celebrated my 22nd Birthday right here in Australia! God how time flies when you are having fun! Exactly this time last year, I was sitting on a plane, on my way to Australia…

The plan was to jump on a plane and see where life took me, however, that didn’t quite work out as I thought it would, as just a few weeks later I had a call from the Big Brother producers telling me I was a housemate in BB10, and needless to say, I turned around, hopped back across to the UK and had my life changed in a VERY big way! Well, I say I turned around, I did spend all of 24 hours in Oz, as the BB team booked me on a flight the very next day and *poof,* there I was right there on your TV screens just a few short weeks later! But that’s a whole different story!

This birthday was just a little less dramatic to say the least, but none the less exciting… I was treated to the most gorgeous Dinner at the fabulous Nuevo37, a Spanish restaurant situated in the Docklands area of the City, with its Michelin starred chef and stunning decor, it certainly beat the dried up aeroplane food I was eating this time last year. So obviously, I decided to take full advantage of the night and stepped out in my little black dress and killer heels!

To be perfectly honest with you (and don’t laugh!) I usually don’t like to try new foods, I like to stick to what I know, you cant go wrong there can you? But eventually I let my friends order for me and ended up trying a number of authentic tapas – everything from sautéed tiger prawns to oven roasted capsicum. My, my, I really did have the best night.

Of course, being the party girl that I am, the fun doesn’t stop there either! I have organised a night out at the weekend with friends, so if you’re in Oz and have your dancing shoes on, come party… I mean who says you only need to have one birthday a year?!

Obviously being away from my friends and family again this year was tough for me and I found myself getting really emotional reading the cards from them all – especially the one my baby sister managed to write herself! – But it just hits home how much they have been there for me over the past year and how often they have stood by me no matter what.

I think it is so important to have people like that in your life, being on Big Brother has shown a lot of peoples true colours, and in a sense I am extremely grateful for that as I am now left with the people who really care about me whilst at the same time highlighting the importance of surrounding yourself with loyal people.

My friends and family mean the world to me and even though I couldn’t celebrate my birthday with them, they still managed to make sure my day was special, and that truly means something to me.

Of course I cant forget the fans, I honestly lost count of how many birthday wishes I received on Twitter, and I think its so thoughtful of people to take the time out of what they are doing to wish me a Happy Birthday! So a big Thank You to you all.

I really did have the best Birthday here in OZ, thanks to all the special people in my life who made my day so perfect!

Until next time!

Karly Ashworth Talks Cheryl Cole & WAG’s

It seems like such a distant memory when we think back to the Girls Aloud girlies auditioning for Popstars: The Rivals. When Cheryl was still a young girl with just hopes and dreams… I bet she never could have imagined what was destined to become of her in years to come! From this young girl Cheryl has blossomed into a successful, independent woman, one in which we can all look up to.

One thing I really respect about Cheryl is the way in which she distanced herself from the dreaded tag of being a W.A.G…. although she married a very successful, high profile footballer and was spotted regularly socializing with other ‘WAG’ pals, she pushed herself to be successful in her own right and became famous for her own talent rather than being pushed into the background as a piece of ‘bling’ on some footballers arm.

Although many women did not agree with Cheryl’s decision to stand by her husband after it was first exposed that he had been unfaithful, I have to give it to her, it takes a stronger woman to stay and forgive you man and to keep working on your marriage than it does to simply pack up and walk away! It’s just a shame some men don’t see a good thing when they have it. I know footballers have a reputation for ‘playing the field’ but with news about Ashley cheating AGAIN, I couldn’t help but find myself thinking ‘If Cheryl Cole gets cheated on, what hope do the rest of us have?!’

But good riddance to bad rubbish I  say and I am happy that Cheryl has decided that now is the time to forget about him, and focus on herself!

So, after a busy year, Cheryl has raced up the ladder of success and with collaborations with will.i.am and the keen interest from both the public and industry in America, her music career is yet to soar. Not only that, but I’m sure many other aspects of her career will take off too.

Cheryl has been recognised as a style icon and revered as a fashionista, I know that I am always keen to see what Cheryl is wearing next, and what hair style/accessories she will be donning and I’m sure all you ladies are the same! Her down to earth charm, inner and outer beauty and the sympathy from women all over the country has seen her popularity grow and she definitely has a place in my heart!

After seeing a picture of Cheryl in this weeks tabloids with a gorgeous new hair do and a smile on her face, I think its safe to say Cheryl’s happiness and career are on the up. She is living proof that you do not need to rely on a man in order to succeed, and as sad as it is to watch your marriage disappear, I’m sure it will be so much more rewarding to see what the future holds!

So ladies, remember : a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle, go out there and define yourself as a sex, confident and above all, successful woman. Hit me up on Twitter if you want to chat – @mskarlyashworth – until next time. Mwah!

Karly Ashworth On Internet Fakers and THAT Twitter Profile

Hey guys,

Today blog has come about after I sat down and plugged my name into the old Facebook search bar to see what kind of stuff popped up. Random I know, but I  hope you all will see my point in the end!

So, for those of you at your computers who have the social networking sites up when you should be working *cough cough*, why not take two minutes to have a break, put the boring emails to one side and check your old faithful Twitter, Facebook, MySpace or Bebo… And tell me, how many profiles come up when you search your name? Only one…PHEW! You can breathe again!

Unfortunately for me, I found out today that there are around 10 fake profiles clogging up the World Wide Web with people claiming to be me and writing a load of old absolute nonsense about a personal life that doesn’t even exist. Nightmare!

Now I know this may sound rather petty to some of you, so I’ sorry, but I do find the whole thing rather disturbing, I mean, how easy is it nowadays for people to claim they are someone else? I was even messaged by one person claiming that THEY were the real Karly and I was to stop ‘pretending’ to be her! (I was even questioning whether or not I was real for a second or two!)

My Official (and only) Twitter

Not only that, but I now have some crazed guy with my name attached to his twitter?! I mean what on earth is that all about?!, I’m sure you all know to whom I am referring right now, but just the thought of someone posing as me, using my name to benefit themselves and publishing information about me and my life which is nothing to do with them – or anyone else for that matter – really aggravates me.

Anyway, with that little rant over, it does actually lead me onto a very serious point; How many young girls and boys out there use the internet nowadays? I’m sure kids as young as 13 have Facebook? I know it’s not quite the same, but my little sister is only five, and I was amazed when I discovered she knew how to turn on the computer!

We are in a totally different technological age now, long gone are the days when playing out in the back garden was fun. These innocent kids are on the internet, assuming they are connecting with friends when really, they could be connecting with anybody!

Look at all the people who added one of my fake profiles – It wasn’t a young blonde glamour model you connected with, it was probably be some fat smelly 50 year old man. Now THAT is worrying.

But what help is there to stop this happening? Apart from reporting someone, not very much. The internet is a very big place and people can publish all manner of things which could discredit others, or lure a young child into a very dangerous situation.

With regards to the fake profiles and the imitation, I should be flattered that someone thinks so highly of me to want to pass themselves off as me, or affiliated with me; to me this just mirrors peoples insecurity with themselves and fascination to become someone else. I suppose in a sense the internet does give one a mask to do this with, but in my eyes its completely wrong! After all, isn’t it  better to be you than someone else? After all, that’s what makes us all so wonderful (or not so wonderful in some cases) and I’m sure that Karly is more than enough anyway! :) So drop the masks people and get your OWN beautiful faces out there!

I want you all to know that I love to keep in touch with my fans, they always have such positive things to say and I find it really inspiring and uplifting to hear from them, and ALWAYS try my very best to reply to you all. What annoys me is these lovely thoughts are getting lost somewhere in the world of internet fakes!

So, for the record, I have one official Twitter account which you can follow me on if you like – @mskarlyashworth – and I find that this, as well as my blog the best ways to connect with everyone. So come and say ‘’Hi’’ to the real Karly Ashworth… I look forward to meeting you.
