Richard E.Grant Talks First Night

We have already seen Richard E.Grant on the big screen this year with Horrid Henry: The Movie but now he is back with First Night.

He leads a cast that includes Sarah Brightman, Edyta Budnik and Oliver Dimsdale with Christopher Menaul moving away from TV projects to direct.

In the latest video for the movie the actor talks about his character as well as the plot.

Adam (Richard E. Grant) is a rich industrialist and frustrated opera singer aspiring to a more cultured world.

Spurred on by playful jibes that he’s just a City suit living a capitalist dream he decides to stage an opera in his lavish country retreat.

He feels sure the shallow taunting will end once his friends see him in full voice. In fact his singing might even help him win the hand of Celia (Sarah Brightman) the female conductor he’s been pursuing, especially since she is the first to be recruited for his showpiece.

First Night is out now.

Sarah Brightman teams up with Richard E Grant for the theatrical new movie First Night – which is directed by Christopher Menaul.

This is a movie which fuses the stately grandeur of Gosford Park with the magical music of Amadeus for a unique story of love’s fluctuating fortunes, set against a sumptuous backdrop of visual and vocal beauty.

As the cast, drama and score all tread the tightrope of tone between humour and pathos, what unfolds is a timeless romantic comedy.

Adam is a rich industrialist, who aspires to a more cultured world. Spurred on by playful jibes that he’s little more than a city suit living the capitalist’s dream, this frustrated amateur opera singer decides to throw an opera in his lavish country retreat.

Once his friends see him belting out the notes, he feels sure it will spell the end to their shallow taunts.

In fact, it might even help him win the hand of a female conductor he’s been pursuing whom – it just so happens – is the first to be recruited for his showpiece.
